Pandora

Pandora

Prometheus stole the sacred fire
And you were born
Pandora you were conceived
To punish humans, to be the scorn.
The first one ever created
From the sand or the dust
The gods, all of them crafted
In you so tender and soft.
For you were beautiful
The most beautiful of them all
And your life was graceful
Filled with gifts to make humans fall.
Hephaestus carved your body
There's a flame inside your living
Athena made you crafty
Taught you needlework and weaving
By the goddess Aphrodite
Your's the power of seduction
Lust and pleasure bear you mighty
In your limbs heathen perdition.
Hermes put in you a wicked treasure
Power of speech, a shameful mind
Brilliant, deceitful nature
With your lies can make us blind.
Athena weaved a dress with silver
And your perfect body dressed.
The Charites put golden jewelry
And a golden crown so blest.
The last gift was a big jar
Sworn to be kept concealed
Yet according to the lore
You were curious and unveiled
The jar's content to the air.
All the evils poured to yield
Famishing, plagues, released by err.
Only one thing was left
After Pandora put on the lid
Hope, so precious to be kept
Yet it's captive, never rid.
