Chapter 30
Here's the song I listened to that hyped me up and gave me ideas for the second half of the chapter (in a weird way), so listen if you like~
Loooooong chapter ahead, so little warning here.
_________
The atmosphere was relaxed in the casino. Everyone was in the building but dotted around in different parts. The majority were gathered in Min Seol and Dae-Hyun's office (and now also Taeyang's), sitting wherever they felt comfortable. A table had been brought down for both extra seating and a mini boardroom table.
Kyoji sat at the table, his head resting on his hands and his mind wondering elsewhere. Sohee was sitting next to him just picking off white hairs from his dark clothing.
"She has a cat or something, doesn't she?" Sohee asked as she flicked another loose hair on the ground. Kyoji glanced at her before nodding and staring at the blank wall again. "Thought so."
Dae-Hyun was feeling better and more himself, it's just his voice seemed to have become permanently raspy and slightly hoarse. The cause was assumed to be from all the screaming he did when his body was attacking itself for days. He didn't mind though. Leo liked it.
Kai Ling was chatting to Min Seol as she tried to finish paper work for the casino. Since she got shot, Kai Ling seems to be talking more to Min Seol. Not that Min Seol minds, she's glad if anything as she feels they've never been on the best of terms, but when she's trying to get important work done does she wish she could just tell her to leave without pissing Kai Ling off.
Jae Eun was just sitting on Dae-Hyun's desk, mindlessly tidying the mess. Dae-Hyuk glared at Jae Eun's hand as it put his belonging in their correct place without even thinking, but he dropped his stare as he noticed Jae Eun was daydreaming. He just let the guy tidy since he didn't want to annoy him.
Yeonhee walked in and walked over to Kyoji. She smiled down at him as he glanced up at her. Her smile made him nervous.
"Have you heard?" She asked quietly. Kyoji shook his head, not sure what she's talking about. Sohee kept picking hairs off his shirt and pretended not to be eavesdropping on the conversation that wasn't even private. "Ah, I know something before you~!" She sang and pulled a tongue at him childishly.
At that moment Ryota walked into the room and leaned on the table Kyoji was resting on.
"Guys I have important news." He declared, making all eyes focus on him. Turning to the side a little, he gestured towards the door he entered. Everyone's eyes looked to the door and a tall, slim, and dark haired boy walked through. "This is our new recruit." He stated. The boy stopped and bowed politely at the audience in front of him.
"Isn't it a little inappropriate to have a new recruit when we can't trust anyone?" Kai Ling asked bluntly. The new guy fidgeted at her question.
"We need all the help we can get." Ryota stated before stepping back and placing a hand on the new boys stern shoulder. "Anyway, I know we can trust him. The firm is closely tied with his father. Just a little field experience wouldn't do him any harm."
"Well, getting shot and maybe killed might." Dae-Hyun said in a sarcastic tone. His comment made Min Seol throw one of her fluffy pens at him, hitting him right on the forehead. "It's a joke." He muttered as he rubbed his forehead feeling sorry for himself.
"So, everyone, meet Jeon Jungkook. When out in the field though, since this guy's a bit of a pyromaniac his codename is Phoenix" Ryota said and Jungkook bowed again. "He'll be working in Demolition. Which is convenient since I have another announcement. Well, more like a plan." He said, grabbing a chair and sat down. "I've had confirmation that there will be a Nobody van filled with a lot of drugs. They intend to sell it and use the money to buy weapons to use against us. Inha and I have come up with a plan to destroy the cargo and also some Nobody vehicles. Demolition will be needed for this as we want to make a statement." Ryota explained.
Jae Eun and Yeonhee looked at each other with small smiles. It's been a while.
"You'll inform Hyerim and then take Jungkook with you. He can have his first task done then." Ryota said, motioning to Jungkook standing behind him.
"Throw him right in the deep end why don't you." Sohee laughed.
"What are we doing exactly?" Jae Eun asked, his eyes scanning Jungkook's well build form.
"The van shall be surrounded by other Nobody vehicles for extra protection. We need to eliminate them in order to actually get to the van holding the drugs. Since we don't want the police up our arses again and save Dae-Hyun and Min Seol here some paperwork and bribing, we'll do it in a place where not so many people can be killed. So this shall take place when they're on the motorway. I know people driving will be injured, but it lowers the risk of cars driving into buildings and exploding." Ryota explained, everyone nodding with his words in understanding. "So you four in Demolition will have to use explosives as a way of taking out the other vehicles. Since we're making a point here, explosives usually crate the loudest of messages."
"We using RPG's here or..?" Yeonhee asked, her eyes bright and excited at the word 'explosives'.
"Sticky bombs would be best as you can get them on the vehicles and get far enough away before you detonate them. I don't want you guys injured like last time as you couldn't get far enough away after detonation." Ryota answered. Yeonhee and Jae Eun shared a empathetic glance before focusing back on their Boss. "Which vehicles do you want? I don't know what would work best."
"Using cars wouldn't work. We won't be able to get close enough and put the stickies on. Why don't we use motorbikes?" Jungkook suggested.
"Ah that's a shout." Dae-Hyun agreed. "Also they look cooler." He added with a playful grin.
"Bikes it is then. You all know how to ride one?" Ryota asked and they all nodded. "Good. We're set then." He finalised and looked at Kyoji. "Go and find four bikes and have them left by the back of the casino by 8 tomorrow." He ordered and his brother nodded and stood up from his seat. "Inform Taeyang about this also."
"When do we head out?" Yeonhee asked in a happy tone.
"8:30PM. The estimated time that the van will be on the motorway is 9PM. You should get there around then." He said and stood up himself. He placed a hand on Jungkook's shoulder again and looked at Jae Eun and Yeonhee. "Show him around and teach him what we're like. I don't want him going in blind." He ordered before patting Jungkook's shoulder and disappeared upstairs again.
Yeonhee smiled brightly at the new guy and motioned for him to follow her, which he did.
"Am I the only one who is still hung up about the fact we don't want police up our ass, yet were using explosions?" Min Seol asked, sounding utterly confused. Yeonhee looked at her and put a finger to her lips and hushed her.
"Come on Jungkook. I'll give you a tour." She chirped and practically skipped out the office, not saying a work to confused Min Seol. Jungkook followed her out the room and as he closed the door behind him, the office fell silent for a few moments.
"Well. I wasn't expecting a new member." Sohee stated, breaking the silence. Everyone hummed in agreement.
"He's fit though." Jae Eun commented and carried on cleaning Dae-Hyun's messy desk.
"I thought you were seeing that Yogi guy. I forget his name." Kai Ling said in slight shock.
"It's Yugyeom, and we split up about a month ago." Jae Eun explained, still focusing on the mess in front of him.
"I though you've been on your phone less." Sohee joked, earning herself a brief glare from Jae Eun.
"Well, now that Yogiyom is out the picture, maybe Jungkook can fill his place." Dae-Hyun suggested and winked.
"Fuck off." Jae Eun sighed and hopped off his desk. He headed for the office door to find Hyerim but looked at Dae-Hyun before he left. "We'll see." He added before winking back. Dae-Hyun and Sohee laughed at his comment before everyone went back to their usual routines.
"He seems happier than usual." Min Seol commented as she continued working.
"A new guy joins with a face and physique like that and you're newly single, wouldn't you be?" Dae-Hyun chuckled as he started filling in paper work.
________
Kyoji took one last look at the four black, sleek, and new bikes that were propped up in the back alley of the casino. He turned and walked down the dark hallways towards the office, Taeyang in front and leading the way.
"How did you get the bikes at such short notice?" Kyoji asked out of curiosity. Taeyang glanced back and let out a short laugh.
"You of all people should know about the whole 'I know people' situation." He commented before pushing open the office door.
He glanced at the four Demolition members dressed in the same dark leather clothes, but each one looked different. Yeonhee had her black leather jacket open, showing off her white tank top. Her tight leather pants ripped on the thighs.
Hyerim had her leather jacket zipped up, but the sleeves rolled up to her elbows. Her pants lined with silver zips that seemed to be more for decoration than actual use.
Jungkook had his leather jacket open also, and like Yeonhee he had his white tank top on show. His pants however were void of any decoration, but were just as tight.
Jae Eun had his leather jacket tied around his waist and unlike the others, he had a black tank top on instead. His tight leather pants were ripped on the knees and his black combat boots made him look like a fashionable motorist. He was proud of the look.
"The bikes are ready." Kyoji stated and the four nodded. Taeyang pulled four new earpieces out of his jacket pocket and handed one to each member of the leather clad.
"I'll tell you what needs to be told, I assume you all know what to do anyway. Just try not to get yourselves killed." He sighed and smiled weakly. They nodded and he wished them luck before walking over and sitting himself at his desk in front of the four monitors.
"You know what to do?" Ryota asked them seriously.
"Yes." They all said in unison.
"You've got everything?"
"Yes."
"You'll look out for each other?"
"Yes."
"Okay." Ryota said and clasped his hands together. "You better get going then. Good luck." He stated. The four nodded and grabbed their black helmets and backpacks full of explosives and headed out.
The four walked down the corridors and walked out into the cool air, their bikes gleaming in the dim light given off by the street lamps nearby.
"We look so cool." Hyerim stated as she sat on one of the bikes and placed her helmet over her head. Jae Eun rolled his eyes with a smirk at her comment as he shrugged on his jacket.
"Hell yeah we do." Yeonhee agreed as she and the other two put their own helmets on too.
They all revved their engines and Jae Eun led them out onto the roads.
The roads were busy as it wasn't too late and it was also the weekend. They easily weaved through the cars that were too slow for their liking and quickly reached the motorway.
"You've made good timing." Taeyang's voice said into their ears. "The convoy is ahead of you guys by a bit. Shouldn't take you long to reach them."
The four started to accelerate more at his words and it wasn't too long before they could see the squad of black and blue cars. The black van with a blue stripe stood out as it was taller than the cars surrounding it.
Jae Eun's eyes narrowed onto the vehicles and he leaned down and sped up, the other three copying him. As they got closer they could see that the cars of innocents had left a considerably large gap between them and the convoy. They obviously knew something was odd with it.
"Let's split into two's. Whoever is behind me will go to the left, and the other two go to the right. Start putting them stickies on as subtly as you can and say when you have." Jae Eun said. He doesn't like not having a plan.
"I'm behind you." Jungkook's voice answered through the earpiece.
"Follow me and stick what you can on the cars, when you can." He said as he sped up and got closer to one of the Nobody cars.
All four of them pulled out small sticky patches with explosives built into them. Without much effort, the cars surrounding the priority van were teeming with the small explosives.
Jungkook had one last sticky available and had his eye on one of the vehicles that was slightly lacking. He revved the engine of his motorbike and leaned down, creeping up on the now suspicious vehicle. As he got closer and reached his hand out, his fingers just about reached the black metal. Jae Eun was worried by his risky move as the henchmen were suspicious as they had slowed down slightly.
When Jungkook placed the final sticky bomb on the car he slowed down and joined Jae Eun again. He seemed quite relaxed where as Jae Eun was more alert than before.
Out the corner of his eye he could see a tinted black window start to roll down. He gasped as he saw the gleaming of a metal object point in their direction. From what he could see, the gun was pointing directly at Jungkook.
"Phoenix!" Was all he could say before he had to act. He didn't hesitate and sped up, heading towards Jungkook who was cruising ahead of him. As Jae Eun approached the relaxed boy, he pulled the handles of his speeding bike up, so the front wheel was off the ground.
The sound of a gun shot echoed through the open and already noisy area, followed by the pang of the bullet hitting metal. The cars that were already driving quite a distance away from the convoy, completely stopped at the sound.
Before Jungkook could register what had happened, all he saw was Jae Eun's bike wobble uncontrollably and watched as he was flung over the handlebars and onto the road.
"Ace!" He yelled, slowing down and looking behind him as Jae Eun skidded and rolled on the concrete before coming to a hault. Jungkook turned the bike around and raced to Jae Eun who was groaning as he lifted himself off the flat ground.
Jae Eun yanked his scratched helmet off and shook his head, ruffling his messy hair. He raked a hand through his ash blonde locks before he frowned at the wet feeling on his scalp.
"Agh, fuck." He hissed as he looked down at his arm and saw that his jacket had moved as he tumbled and there was now a serious scrape on his exposed forearm and the back of his hand. He swore he saw some white mixed in with the crimson in his wound.
"Ace." Jungkook's voice said and Jae Eun's vision was blocked by the guys out held hand. He grabbed it and groaned as Jungkook helped him to his feet. "Get on." He stated, Jae Eun didn't need telling twice.
Kicking his helmet out the way he got up and swung his leg over the seat and gladly wrapped his arms around the new guy's waist. He could feel the guys abs that were clearly defined. He didn't bother hiding his smirk since Jungkook couldn't see his face anyway.
"I'm so sorry about that. I didn't realise-"
"Let's not apologise. Why don't we just get our own back instead." Jae Eun suggested. Jungkook was silent for a moment before he answered.
"Whatever you say." He answered, a hint of playfulness in his tone.
The pair sped up again and quickly caught up with the explosive convoy. Jae Eun looked to his side and saw Yeonhee and Hyerim quite a distance behind the vehicles.
"We're gonna detonate now." Hyerim's voice said into their ears. "We're running out of motorway." She added.
"You're far enough behind, it's all good to go." Taeyangs voice confirmed. Jae Eun got out the small remote in his pocket (which he's surprised didn't accidentally detonate when he fell) and rested his thumb on the red button.
"Well lets go then." He chuckled. He looked over to the girls who nodded at him. He took this as a signal and pressed down on the button. Two seconds later the sound of multiple explosions filled the air and traveled for miles.
Jae Eun shielded his head and pressed the side of his face onto Jungkook's back. He could feel Jungkook moving as he laughed at the sight of fire and smoke.
The cars had exploded at random times and were now engulfed in flames. The smoke spilling out of the burnt metal frames of the vehicles. The four Demolition members drove past the now immobile cars and narrowed in on the lone van.
"Lucky or Yoshi, take out the passenger. I have a plan." Jae Eun said.
"Don't get us killed~!" Yeonhee sang as the two sped up and went onto the side the passenger would be on and were out of their sight.
"Are you stable on a bike Phoenix?" Jae Eun asked Jungkook. He adjusted himself so he was in the right position before he got an answer. No matter the answer, he would have to do this anyway.
"I've grown up on bikes. So yeah, I like to think I am." Jungkook replied, sounding a little cocky which made Jae Eun roll his eyes.
"Great. I'm not sorry about this." He declared before wrapping his strong legs around Jungkook's waist, lying down so he was flat and bent his torso to the side. "Oh and have this." He added as he took his backpack off and looped it around Jungkook arm as he asked him to do so, so he had Jae Eun's backpack now on him as well as his own.
His injured hand reached and grabbed one of Jungkook's strong arms and he pulled, making him rotate around the guy's body. Now he had turned, he was able to grab the bike instead of the man's body. He pulled again and then was in the position he wanted to be in. His legs wrapped around Jungkook's torso and he was lying down flat so his head was resting on the bars that connected the hand grips.
"Well, that was unexpected." Jungkook stated. Even though his face was hidden behind a black tinted visor, Jae Eun could tell he was smiling. Jae Eun just chuckled and arched his back slightly so he could tilt his head back and see in front of them.
"Get right behind the van, I need to undo the latch." He ordered, pointing to the area he was describing.
"You're gonna try and get the drugs?" He asked, speeding up as he knew where to go.
"Of course. Why not steal the drugs they were gonna use to get weapons to kill us with, and do the same thing but use the money to kill them instead." Jae Eun answered. Jungkook just hummed at his explanation.
The bike got closer to the van and Jae Eun reached his hands out to try and grab the rusty handle. The bike couldn't go any further since the wheel would be touching the back of the van, so Jae Eun had to strain to even get close to it.
"I feel like I know you on a whole other level now Ace." Jungkook said as Jae Eun repositioned his legs around his body, and wriggled to move up the bike. Jae Eun laughed as his fingers brushed the metal latch.
"Same. It's nice to be able to feel how strong you are rather than take your word for it. I know you're not-" he replied, stopping as he grunted when he pulled the handle down and the doors opened. "-lying about these things." He finished, looking down and sending a cheeky grin to Jungkook.
"How you gonna get in?" Jungkook asked as the other door flew open since Jae Eun didn't grab it. He didn't get a verbal reply, instead Jae Eun just moved his legs and rolled over onto his stomach. He wrapped his legs around him again to stable himself before moving them so his feet were pressed against Jungkook's stomach. "Right." He laughed as Jae Eun stretched his froggy-like legs and pushed himself up the bike again.
His free hand latched onto a metal bar on the inside of the van door. Using this he pulled himself up and when his body was off the bike, he kicked his feet and rested them on the edge of the open holder. He wobbled slightly as the door wanted to sway, but when he got his balance he quickly dived into the solid back of the van.
Grunting when his body hit the floor, he blinked and saw his face was centimetres away from a bag filled with white power. He laughed and quickly stood up, rushing to the open doors.
"Throw the bag to me!" He yelled, forgetting he had an earpiece in and was welcomed with groans from Hyerim, Yeonhee, and Taeyang about behind too loud.
Jungkook laughed and took the extra bag off with ease and threw it into Jae Eun's outstretched arms.
As soon as the backpack was in his hands he ran and grabbed as many bags of the drugs he could, stuffing what he could fit inside. When the bag was full, the van was still stuffed with the powder.
"Oh shit." He muttered to himself as he remembered there was a Nobody henchman driving that was still alive. He moved through the stacks of drugs and stopped as he came to a small window, the view through it being the driver who was constantly looking at his side mirrors.
Jae Eun gently tapped the screen dividing them, finding out its glass he without thinking balled his fist up and smashed it through the glass sheet.
"Fuck!" He groaned as glass entered his already bad wound, but pushed it to the back of his mind.
The Nobody member looked at Jae Eun but it was too late. The Malevolent member had already reached over and grabbed his head, and turned it to the side with a quick snapping motion. He sighed as the drivers body fell limp in his hands.
"Shit shit shit..." he muttered, crawling through the small opening quickly as the dead drivers foot started pressing down more and more on the accelerate pedal. He saw the dead passengers body and reached over it, opening the door and pushing the body out the moving vehicle.
"Running out of road dude." Taeyang's voice said in his ear. As the van got faster and faster he instinctively grabbed onto the steering wheel from the passengers seat he plopped himself onto.
"Phoenix, pull up to the passengers side." Jae Eun said. Jungkook sped up and drove alongside the van, keeping up with its increasing speed.
Jae Eun made sure the van was going straight before he let go of the wheel and reached into a small pocket on his backpack. He pulled out a larger explosive and placed it in the dead drivers lap.
Quickly he opened the passenger door again and saw Jungkook there. He noticed the motorist couldn't get close to the van due to the door in the way. He groaned before standing up so half his body was out the van, and the other half inside and gripping on tightly to anything that was sturdy.
Using all his strength, he started kicking the car door by its hinges. The old looking van door started to loosen and move away from the frame of the vehicle. Jungkook noticed what he was doing and moved out the way so he wouldn't collide with a falling door.
"There we go." Jae Eun muttered to himself as the door flew off the van and skidded down the motorway road, a trail of sparks chasing after it as it grazed the tarmac. "Let me get on." He said to Jungkook.
Jungkook moved as close to the van as he could without it being too risky. He shuffled forward on his seat so there was more room for Jae Eun to get on.
"Are you steady?" Jae Eun asked, raising his eyebrows. "If I fall this time, I die." He stated in a serious tone.
"Just trust me Ace." Jungkook said firmly. Jae Eun sighed and decided he would die anyway. He tried to push the slight trust he felt for the new guy away, it's just his survival instincts kicking in. Surely.
Jae Eun grabbed onto the frame of the van and reached his leg out, his other hand grabbing onto Jungkook's shoulder to steady himself. When he realised he was going to have to jump a little was when he started to panic. He's already dodged a horrific death once, and being in that situation again terrified him.
Jungkook must have noticed the blonds unsure and scared expression as he moved closer to the van, even though it put his life at risk as one wrong jolt of the steering and he would be dead too.
"We're running out of road here." Jungkook stated. "Just trust me." He said finally. Jae Eun looked at the bike then at Jungkook before impulsively leaping.
Jungkook moved away from the van as he knew Jae Eun jumped and couldn't risk crashing into it as the bike would inevitably wobble. Using his foot to push the bike away from the uncontrollable van, with only a cut from the sharp piece of metal jutting out from the rough removal of the door causing a problem.
Jae Eun wrapped his arms tightly around Jungkook's body and pressed the side of his face against his shoulder, watching the van speed away as they slowed down. He grabbed the detonator for the bomb planted in the vehicle and pressed it quickly before the van could go over the railings and off the motorway.
The drug filled vehicle burst into flames and the two watched as it skidded across the stretch of road, tumbling as it couldn't stay flat due to its momentum and now lack of wheels. Jungkook stopped and they just watched the orange flames lick away the black and blue paint, causing it to flake and crumble into ashes. When it finally came to a stop, the sound of sirens were loud and clear.
Jae Eun's eyes were focused on the amber sparks that blew up into the black sky and floated into invisible whispers. A tap on his arm dragged him back to their reality.
"Let's go before the cops see us. The girls left while they could." He said and started the engine again. Jae Eun hummed and rested his chin on Jungkook's shoulder so he could see in front of him. He closed his eyes and let the wind brush over his hot face, cooling him and also provided some relaxation.
"Thanks for not letting me die." Jae Eun said quietly, his eyes opening slightly.
"Thanks for not being annoyed I nearly killed you." Jungkook replied.
"It's all part of the job." He chuckled weakly. His body becoming tired and sore as the adrenaline started to drain from his body. His hand wounds screaming at him but his mind was too tired to even think about a solution.
"I like it." Jungkook said happily.
"Good. Stick around and save me more often, it's nice." Jae Eun joked, knowing how cheesy he sounded. Thankfully Jungkook saw the cheesy side and to his relief, laughed instead of cringed.
"I might just take you up on that."
