Chapter 29
(This is just the song I listened to when writing the last few parts of the chapter, you don't need to listen to it. I just thought I would put it here incase anyone wanted to hear it ahaha!)
_________
The club was a place where Minseo felt at home. He was in control there even though he didn't own it. He knew how to get his way, and used his manipulative mafia side there to do this. Nowhere or anyone is safe from his mafia manipulative side. It's become a part of him at this point.
Hyerim immediately regretted wearing such high heels as her feet were already aching. She just hated busy places like this when she wasn't wearing heels as she's so short. She hates not being able to see her environment as she's swamped by taller people.
She straightened her tight shirt before entering the bar. Minseo grabbed the handle and opened the door for her, with a small smile on his thick lips.
"Thank you." She said with a smile before strutting inside. Minseo followed behind her as she headed towards the bar that was illuminated by blue and pink neon lights. She perched herself on one of the high stools and leaned an elbow on the bar, smiling at Minseo as he stood next to her.
She smiled sweetly at him, but he just stared back with a blank expression. This went on for about 20 seconds until Minseo finally cracked.
"Okay fine." He sighed. He leaned on the bar and got the attention of his good friend behind the bar.
"Minseo!" The tall and incredibly handsome man greeted, his smile reaching his eyes making them seem small. "It's been more than four days since I last saw you here." He said, Minseo shifted as he felt Hyerim's gaze on him. "Thought you finally died or something. I was worried." He joked. Minseo shot him a false smile before standing up straight.
"Hello to you too." He joked and motioned a hand towards Hyerim. "She'll have whatever as long as it's not alcoholic, and I'll have whatever drink has the highest percentage." He said.
"Does 'she' have a name?" The smiley man asked as he rummaged through the drinks, looking for the one Minseo blindly requested.
"I'm Hyerim." She introduced. "And you?" She asked, resting her head on her hand. The man turned around and smiled at her, his happiness seemed infectious.
"Inguk, but everyone seems to call me Gukkie for some reason. Awful nickname in my opinion." He said, before holding up the bottle at Minseo. "I'm sure this isn't in your budget." He stated, making Minseo's face scrunch up.
"How much can it possibly be?" He chuckled.
"Well, it's absinthe." He stated, making Minseo's eyes light up. "70% alcohol." He added. "It's also 28,000₩ per bottle. (£20/$25)" Minseo couldn't help but let out a loud laugh at the price.
"What's the cheapest drink you got with the highest percentage?" He asked. Inguk rolled his eyes and put the bottle back in the cooler, grabbing a bottle of vodka instead.
"The usual then?" He asked, a playful look on his face. Minseo nodded and turned to look at the mass of people dancing to the loud and booming music. Inguk grabbed a glass and filled it with vodka before placing it by Minseo's hand. Hyerim stared at it in shock.
"He drinks it straight?" She asked Inguk, who was putting he bottle back. He nodded at her. Hyerim shook her head. "I'll have whatever looks the most like alcohol but actually isn't." Inguk smiled and went to find her something.
Minseo's eyes scanned every face he could see, but he couldn't see anyone he was interested in. He felt picky tonight.
He sighed and grabbed his drink, quickly drinking it and swallowing before his body could even gag at the strong and sharp taste. He doesn't like the taste at all, but who drinks alcohol for the flavour?
"No one caught your eye?" Hyerim asked as she sipped from the straw in her drink. Minseo shook his head and had another swig of his drink. "You need to pay Inguk by the way." She stated, smiling.
He rolled his eyes and grabbed his wallet and gave some cash to Inguk. Inguk just shook his head and held his hand out for more. Minseo looked surprised and glanced at Hyerim.
"How much was your fucking drink?" He asked in shock.
"More than yours." She said, her tone cheeky. Minseo groaned before handing Inguk more money.
"Thank you." Inguk chuckled. Minseo just huffed before turning around and looked at the people dancing. He was about to sulk until he saw someone stick out, in more than one way.
A faint smile found its way to his lips as he watched the tall dark haired man try to squeeze past people until he got stuck in the centre. Minseo held in a laugh as he saw the guys fed up face as he gave up trying to even get past. He placed his drink next to Hyerim and silently made his way to the centre of the crowd.
Effortlessly slipping past people as if it was second nature, he easily and quickly got to the tall, lost looking man. As he got closer he saw that he wasn't that much taller than him.
"Need help?" Minseo asked with a smirk to the tall dark haired boy. The guy looked down and let out a deep chuckle.
"You noticed huh?" He questioned in a voice too deep to suit his sweet face. Minseo nodded and grabbed his wrist, guiding the man through and out of the sea of dancing bodies. "Thanks." He said sounding a little embarrassed. He moved his wrist from Minseo's loose grip and made his way to the bar.
"What's your name?" Minseo asked as he walked behind the guy. He glanced behind at Minseo for a second before he smiled.
"Yuto." He answered. "You?"
"Minseo." He replied. Minseo watched as he saw Yuto walk behind the bar and start to collect the glasses left on the counter. Minseo laughed as he watched. "Ah I see. You work here with Gukkie." He commented.
Yuto glanced up as he placed the empty glasses in a large sink for washing. He nodded and sent him a toothy grin. When he was done putting things away, he leaned on the inside of the bar and looked at Minseo.
"Would you like a drink?" He asked, batting his eye lashes at the smiling customer. Minseo shook his head.
"If it's on the house, then yes." He said, and Yuto's face went back to normal and he stood up properly. "I'll take that as a no." He stated and looked down the bar to see Hyerim talking to Inguk as he worked. "In that case would you mind handing me my drink that's next to that lady over there?" He asked sweetly, pointing in her direction. Yuto sighed and did as he asked, since it was better than having to buy the guy a drink himself.
"Here." Yuto said as he placed Minseo's drink in front of him. "Anything else?"
"How tall are you?" Minseo asked out of nowhere before drinking the rest of his drink, wincing a little at the horrid taste.
"I'm basically 6'1." He said with a proud look. Minseo narrowed his eyes at the tall barman.
"Age?" Minseo asked. It sounded more like a challenge.
"19." He answered and Minseo groaned and frowned at Yuto. "What?" He laughed.
"You're younger than me, and taller than me." He replied. "That's not a thing. That's not allowed to happen." He said shaking his head in denial.
"How tall are you and what's your age then?" Yuto asked, very amused by this situation.
"I'm 21 and shorter than you." Minseo grumbled, and sighed at the taller.
"How much shorter exactly?" Yuto teased.
"A little." Minseo said, not telling him exactly. He would be a little embarrassed to admit being nearly 3 inches shorter than the 19 year old. "You must be new. I haven't seen you around here before." Minseo commented, trying to drive the topic of conversation away from his height he was once so proud of.
"I started last week. I'm not use to this kind of bar. The one I use to work at was more... relaxed in a way." Yuto answered. Minseo couldn't help but smile when he looked at Yuto. "What do you do then?" Yuto asked, curious of the man with a strange and almost unpredictable aura.
"I import and export goods." Minseo partially lied. Yuto narrowed his eyes at him quickly.
"What you bringing in? Did you get that scar during work?" Yuto asked, intrigued as it seemed like a pretty weird place to have a cut. Even in a fight, it's a strange location and isn't straight like cuts are when used with a straight blade.
"Nosey aren't you?" Minseo stated, trying to say as little as possible. "Shouldn't you be working in places where you can use your height and not nose into people's personal lives? Like maybe stacking high shelves or... Actually that's probably all you would be useful for in that aspect." Minseo said in a sarcastic and salty tone.
"Awh how cute~! Do you feel insecure about your own height because of me? How precious!" Yuto replied in a painfully false and sweet voice. Minseo shook his head and scoffed, he couldn't believe this guy. "Is the little munchkin getting angry?" Yuto cooed and patted the top of Minseo's head.
"Oh fuck off. I'm older than you, you should respect your elders you know." Minseo snapped and pointed at Yuto.
Yuto looked at his pointed finger and reached and grabbed Minseo's hand, moving it so he was pointing up at his smiling face.
"You're gonna have to point a little higher there sweetie, not everyone's as small as you~!" He mocked. Minseo jerked his hand away from Yuto's hold and he sighed defeatedly.
"To think I saved you from getting mobbed just to be insulted."
Minseo reached over the bar and grabbed a bottle of vodka that hadn't been put away and poured it into his glass, before taking a large gulp of it.
"You're gonna have to pay for that." Yuto stated, raising his eyebrows at the drinking man.
"I'll take it as compensation for staff harassment." Minseo muttered as he felt the clear liquid burn down his throat. When the burning stopped, he took another large gulp.
"Alright don't drink yourself silly." Yuto said and tried to grab the drink from Minseo's hand, but Minseo moved it away and out of Yuto's reach.
"Your meant to have long arms aren't you giant?" Minseo teased and finished off the drink before slamming the empty glass back on the bar.
"If you throw up, you're cleaning it." Yuto muttered as he grabbed the glass and put it with all the other dirty and used ones in the sink.
"I'll make sure to aim on you. You'll clean yourself up then no doubt." Minseo said in a bitter voice. "It's a win-win for me. I get to throw up on you and then I don't have to clean it." He said before laughing.
"I'll fucking kick you out in a minute." Yuto threatened.
Hyerim looked over to Minseo and Yuto and smiled. She didn't think Minseo would actually talk to him for so long, especially since he can't actually leave with him as the guy has to work. She chewed on her straw and looked at Inguk after he was done serving someone.
"Why don't you let him off early?" She asked. Inguk looked over and frowned at the lack of work his employee was doing. "Please?" She begged, making her eyes big and Inguk couldn't say no to them.
"Who's gonna tend to the bar?" He asked, knowing he's not actually doing his job anyway so there's no point in paying him.
"I will." Hyerim chirped and hopped off her stool. Inguk laughed and his eyes followed her as she strutted behind the bar. "I've been in plenty of bars so I know how they run." She stated.
"What experience you got?"
"Well, I'm actually banned from going to almost every bar in Seoul as I always start fights. The first time I got arrested was because of a bar fight you know." She said proudly. "But I try not to do that anymore." She smiled as she saw Inguk's unsure expression. "Oh I'll do a better job than him." She whined and pointed to Yuto.
"That's not hard." Inguk joked, causing Hyerim to laugh in offence. "Hey, Yuto." He called over to the dark haired man. Yuto turned and looked at his boss with raised eyebrows. "You can go if you want."
"Oh, no! I'm sorry. I'll-"
"-Just go." Inguk chuckled, turning around to serve some waiting customers with Hyerim.
Yuto looked shocked but pleased by his boss' request. Minseo smiled widely at him but Yuto turned around and picked up a crate full of smashed glasses.
"I'll just take these out and I'll be right back." He said to Minseo pretending he wasn't pleased about this, who nodded and leaned against the bar. His eyes followed Yuto's figure as he easily walked through the crowd as they moved seeing him with a crate of sharp glass cups and bottles.
Minseo waited patiently but after nearly five minutes he grew inpatient.
"If he's fucking ditched me." Minseo grumbled to himself as he weaved through the crowd and went out the back door Yuto went through before.
The fresh and cooling air welcomed Minseo as he stepped outside into a back alley. He took a few breaths of the crisp and sharp air. He hadn't realised how hot it was in there until he came outside.
Looking around he saw the familiar boy standing next to a stack of crates filled with empty bottles, the crate from before still in his hands. Minseo started walking towards him, putting his hands in his black skinny jean pockets. His bare arms starting to develop goosebumps due to the air that felt as if it was getting colder. He regretted wearing only a black slightly oversized t-shirt now.
As he approached Yuto, he noticed another figure standing in front of him. The closer he got the clearer he could hear their voices.
He couldn't make out what they were saying but he could hear that their tones were aggressive and quite hostile. Minseo, stopped and hesitated. Not sure if he should go as he didn't want to be wrapped up in this kids drama. He did an awkward shuffle where he wanted to go towards Yuto but wanted to back into the warm bar with cheap alcohol that was calling his name.
He started to turn around as the thought of vodka won over interrupting an argument to just then insult Yuto himself, but stopped as he heard the stranger yell loudly. He looked over and saw the man's hand ball up into a fist.
Acting on instinct and his mind having no control, he immediately started striding over to the pair. His eyes followed the man's hand as he pulled it back to punch Yuto. Before the man could even throw the punch, Minseo grabbed one of the empty glass bottles from the crates next to them. Minseo pushed Yuto back with one hand and with the other, he smashed the bottle against the strangers skull.
The glass shattered in his hand, the shards flying in all directions and one piece lodged itself into Minseo's hand. The stranger stumbled back and yelled in anger as he felt the warm sensation of blood drip down his temple.
"What the fuck!? Fuck you-" the man started to yell, but couldn't end his sentence as Minseo balled his own fist up and hit the guy with a strong right hook to the jaw. He guy fell over and was flat on his back, gasping as his face was in pain he'd never experienced before.
Minseo took a step towards the man he'd knocked to the ground. He lifted his hand up and saw the large glass shard lodged in his palm. As if it was nothing. He pulled it out and clenched his fist a couple times before looking over to the stranger he really didn't like on the damp ground. He walked to his side and prodded him with his black military style boots.
"What do you think punching Yuto would do? Why did you do that? Oh sorry." He said and chuckled darkly. "Why did you attempt to punch Yuto?" He asked suddenly all amusement void from his voice.
"He would have got what he deserved." The man managed to spit out. As soon as the words left his mouth, Minseo suddenly crouched down and grabbed him by the collar of his shirt and yanked him up into a sitting position. Minseo's gaze was intense and toxic, the man trembled slightly under his tight grip and deathly glare. Even in the dim lighting of the alley, he could see the rage in Minseo's dark eyes.
"What did he do exactly to deserve that?" He questioned. The man's shirt started to become sodden with the blood from Minseo's hand and he hesitated to answer.
"Minseo." Yuto's deep but soft voice called behind him. "Leave him. You would just cause more trouble." He pleaded. Minseo frowned at the man in his hands before standing up and took the man with him.
The stranger whimpered at the sudden movement and his legs were like jelly underneath him. Minseo let go of his collar and looked the terrified man up and down with hooded and furious eyes.
The man glanced at Yuto and then back at Minseo before letting out a sigh in relief as he thought it was over. Minseo didn't like that. Not one bit.
He suddenly grabbed the man by his throat and pushed him back so his body slammed against the brick wall behind him. The man groaned as the back of his head knocked against the slightly damp and mossy wall. Parts of the old bricks crumbled and rained down on the man's bloodied head.
"You come here again, I'll fucking kill you next time." Minseo muttered, poison dripping from his every word. "And don't think that I won't. You don't know who I am, or what I'm like. I'll tell you right now that you really don't wanna know." He threatened. His grip tightened around the man's throat making him let out a choke.
"Minseo." Yuto said in a strained and desperate voice. Yuto's words made Minseo immediately let go and step back. The stranger clasped his throat that was coated in Minseo's blood, and he ran down the alley as fast as his trembling legs would carry him. Minseo watched his every move.
"Who was that?" He asked as he looked down at his blood covered and cut hand. He just wiped the majority of the blood pooling in his palm with the hem of his black tshirt snd turned around to see Yuto who was still staring in the direction the stranger ran off in. "Hey, Yuto." Minseo said in a softer, more human voice. Yuto looked at him, his face looking tired and defeated. "Who was that?"
Yuto hesitated and sighed, looking at his feet. Minseo isn't too good at emotions or dealing with people who are having a hard time, but he moved towards him without a second thought.
"Yuto." He said again. Yuto didn't move. Minseo placed his undamaged hand under Yuto's chin and lifted his head up. The way Yuto's eyes were drooped and sad looking made Minseo feel bad for the guy.
Not knowing what to do as he's never really felt bad for anyone, ever, he diverted his eyes and looked elsewhere. His eyes caught sight of small bruises on Yuto's upper arm that he hadn't noticed before as his tshirt now has shifted on his body.
"Does this happen often?" Minseo asked, his hand moving and gently grazed Yuto's bruised and soft skin on his upper arm.
Yuto quickly readjusted his shirt and covered the marks, making Minseo look back up to him.
"There's nothing you can do. I fucked up, and now I'm too deep into this shit that there's nothing anyone can do." He muttered and turned around to head back inside. Minseo grabbed his arm gently and stopped him.
"You would be surprised what I can do." He said, a slight chuckle at the end of the sentence. His actions are confusing him as he doesn't know why he's helping this cocky boy who he doesn't even know. He just felt like he had to help him.
"Well yeah, I am already. You smashed a bottle over that guy's head, punched him in the face, cut your own hand and pulled out the glass like it's nothing, then choked him and sent him running away like his life depended on it. All for someone who did nothing but insult you." Yuto said, he was slightly amused by what he saw, but he was still more than anything shocked. "I'm sure he's still running. He'll run past us again soon." He joked weakly, but it made Minseo laugh.
"He ran pretty quickly. He should be in Europe by now with that speed." He mused. Yuto laughed at the joke but also at the whole situation, that to him was completely ridiculous.
"Come on. Why don't we sort your hand out and I'll buy you that drink." Yuto suggested and held his hand out. Minseo looked at his outstretched hand and had to keep his poker face. He's not really a hand holder, because he either cuddles people or just skips it altogether and goes straight to sex.
He grabbed Yuto's warm hand after deciding if he stared at it any longer it would be really awkward. Yuto wrapped his fingers around Minseo's cold hand and led him back into the bar, leading him to the staff bathroom. Minseo stared at their hands the whole time. It looked weird to him for some reason.
Yuto stopped and let go, making Minseo a little disappointed it didn't last for long. Yuto grabbed some towelettes and dampened one before taking Minseo's injured hand, pressing the material onto his cut gently.
Yuto stared down at Minseo's hand in concentration, whereas Minseo stared at Yuto. This whole thing was on a level of intimacy he'd never experienced before. This was all new to him and he had no idea how to react or deal with the emotions flooding him.
"Am I hurting you? I'm worried I'm hurting you more than helping." Yuto asked. Laughing at himself for being so cautious with a guy who seemed like he felt no pain at all.
"I've reached the point where pain has become a 7th sense to me." He muttered, looking down at Yuto's hand that was delicately dabbing at the wound. It stopped bleeding after a minute and Yuto went onto wiping the dried blood off the rest of his hand.
"I take it by what I saw today, you don't only import and export goods." Yuto said and he wiped the blood from Minseo's fingers. Minseo only hummed in response. "Am I allowed to know?" He asked timidly.
"It would be best if you didn't." Minseo said. He probably would have told him, but he didn't want to scare Yuto away. He was worried Yuto would leave if he found out he kills and imports and exports illegal guns in and out of the country. "But let's just say I'm good at what I do." He mused, trying to make the atmosphere light.
"How did you get that scar? Can I know that?"
"You really are nosey aren't you?" Minseo chuckled, making Yuto laugh too.
"I'm just curious is all." He defended as he dried Minseo's hand. "Was it given to you by someone in a fight?" He asked looking up from his hand.
"It was self inflicted." Minseo said without thinking. He realised what he said when Yuto's expression dropped. "Not like that. It's complicated."
"I don't doubt that." He tutted and put the bloody towelettes in he bin. "How about that drink?" Yuto asked looking at Minseo. Minseo however couldn't focus on a drink right now. He didn't really know what he was thinking about, he'd never felt so out of control in his life.
He stepped forward and his hand that wasn't injured rested on Yuto's hip. Yuto stepped back automatically but his back was pressed against the cold white tiled wall. He looked down at Minseo who was looking at him with eyes he'd never seen before.
"What about we get drinks next time?" Minseo muttered in a deep voice. Yuto chuckled as Minseo's hand traveled up his back and his face inched closer to his.
"Next time?" Yuto asked as Minseo's nose brushed against his. Minseo hummed in response.
"I'll make sure there's a next time." He said as if it was fact.
"What're we gonna do this time then?" Yuto asked, knowing very well what Minseo had in mind.
"Just shut up." Minseo chuckled before pressing is thick lips against Yuto's. Yuto smiled into the kiss and wrapped his arms around Minseo's neck as he found even his chuckles to be contagious.
