Chapter 20

Min Seol walked through the main Malevolent building, her notebook full of questions for the boss about casino business tucked neatly under her arm. The sound of her heels echoed throughout the 14th floor as it was the only floor where people didn't work, it was the bosses floor.

She walked towards his office and saw the door open slightly. Out the corner of her eye she saw something move quickly. She turned her head in the direction she saw the movement, but only saw the top of someone's head disappear down the stairs. She frowned, as the workers usually aren't allowed on this floor.

She cautiously walked into the bosses office which was empty of life. She walked further in as she had a bad feeling.

Ever since the whole Minho incident, she's been more on edge about Ryota and his safety. If Minho hadn't of said anything, she wouldn't even have a second thought about this situation.

She set down her notebook on Ryota's neat desk and looked around the room for anything suspicious. The feeling of invasion filled her as she looked through his desk drawers, she kept reassuring herself that's it's beneficial though. The tidy drawers had nothing suspicious in them anyway.

She sighed and put her hands on her hips, her eyes scanning the desk intensely. She almost gave up until her eyes latched onto a pen mixed in with a mass of multiple other pens in a small pot. She leaned on the desk and stared at the pen, seeing if there's any reason it would be suspicious.

It was different from all the other identical biros. This one was more of a thick fountain pen, one she knew Ryota never used as he hated when the ink leaked. Picking it up she felt the weight of it, which defiantly wasn't normal. Closer inspection of it made her eyes widen and her stomach to drop.

With Min Seol having a keen interest in high-tech weapons, she knew when something was mechanical. This pen, defiantly had some kind of wiring inside. She knew for a fact that this little pen, was a bomb. She's made enough of them, she knows one when she sees one.

She didn't know how to go about disposing it as the ones she made usually got used by Hyerim or Yeonhee, there was never a need to defuse them.

She hesitantly twisted the top of the pen, only to reveal a bunch of wires inside it. Quickly screwing it back on she paced it out the office and down the stairs.

"Oh my god" she whispered to herself.

Reaching the reception she passed Jae Eun who frowned at her, due to her fast pace and shocked expression.

"You alright?" He asked as she passed, she didn't even stop to answer him nor even look at him properly.

"I'm fine." She called back in a rigid voice and carried on until she was outside the building.

Not even knowing where to go she jumped in the spot holding the pen delicately in her hand, flustered as she was panicking so much.

'Water, find water. A large body of water.' She thought to herself and headed in the direction of the Han river.

She ran through the streets, doing her best to keep people away from her and the explosive in her hand. Swerving through the masses as fast as she could in heels was a lot more challenging than she thought, especially when the Han river is quite the run away from the main building.

After muttering 'sorry' at every passerby that she nudged, the railings that bordered the rivers outline was in view. More determined and motivated than ever she picked up her pace, earning her some strange looks from tourists or just anyone really. She didn't exactly care as she thought a few states are better than part of a building being blown up along with her boss.

As she approached the metal bars she gripped the pen and held her arm back, building up momentum to throw the pen as far away from land as she could. A small grunt left her lips as she threw her arm forward and let go of the pen, her eyes watching it as is soared far and plopped into the cold looking water.

Staring at the spot for a while, she tried to catch her breath. The exhaustion of running mixed the adrenalin draining from her body quickly made her feel tired. She rested her stomach on the rails and leaned forward in an attempt to take some of the weight of her painful feet.

Her eyes closed as the realisation of what just happened hit her, along with the sudden feeling of weakness.

"Excuse me?" A soft make voice asked Min Seol. She opened one eye as it was brighter than she remembered it was before she closed them. The sun shifted and was now shining directly into her eyes. She looked at a silhouette of a guy she couldn't make out as the suns gleam was making it impossible to see his features. "Are you okay?" He questioned.

"I'm not, but it's sorted now." She mumbled, raising up her hand and blocked out the sun from her view. Now she could see him.

The features like his round and almond shape eyes, straight and cute nose, his soft looking lips and kind smile finally came into focus. His soft blond curls fell onto his forehead, framing his face perfectly. He looked like a cherub to her, and she thought he was stunning.

"Oh. You're okay now?" He asked, taking a concerned step towards her hunched over figure. She nodded and smiled weakly at him. "What happened?"

"It's a story that's best kept untold. Sorry." She answered, looking back to where the pen entered the water. She heard the cherub-like man hum before speaking again.

"You look worn out, are you tired?"

"I'm exhausted." She admitted. "No energy."

"How about I take you for some coffee then?" He suggested sweetly. Min Seol turned and looked at him again, shocked at his sudden suggestion. She forced herself to stand up straight and stared at his gently smiling face before hers mimicked his.

"That would be lovely. Thank you..."

"Minghao." He said quickly and let out a quiet chuckle. "And you are?"

"Min Seol." She replied.

"Pretty name, suits you." He said softly and held his arm out for her to grab onto. "I don't want you falling over on the way there. It's just a safety precaution." He explained after he saw her eyes dart from his face to his arm, and back to his face again.

"How sweet." Min Seol laughed, lifting herself away from the railing and took weak steps towards Minghao and his outstretched arm. Her shoes pinching her feet with every step.

She looped her arm with his and he helped her walk at a pace good for her, in the direction of a coffee shop he's in love with.

"Will you be able to tell me about why you were there?" He asked and Min Seol let out a tired laugh.

"You wouldn't believe me even if I told you. Besides, I would probably scare you away."

"Try me." He challenged, sending her a dazzling smile she couldn't help but return back. The little cherubs smile was undoubtedly contagious.

Jae Eun walked up into the comfort room as he wanted to get a drink to wake him up. Sohee was stood there by the breakfast bar, staring at something. He looked to see where she was staring and he saw that her eyes were trained on the back of Hyerim's head.

"You alright there?" He asked as he walked past her and grabbed a mug. Sohee nodded slowly but didn't look away from Hyerim. "Why're you staring so intensely at her?" He chuckled as he started to make his coffee.

"She's just like, muttering to herself. None of it makes sense." She answered quietly. "She's been at it for like, a couple minutes. It's kinda interesting."

"You know Tae would flip if he heard you say that." Jae commented as he poured milk into his cup.

"Yeah yeah, but he's not here is he." She dismissed. Jae sighed and took a sip from his drink and looked over to Hyerim. She was sat there twiddling something between her fingers and just quietly muttered incoherent words to herself.

Hyerim stopped and her whole body froze. Jae suddenly became alert, he was slightly concerned about what she would do. She's known to be unpredictable, especially when in states like these.

Hyerim stood up and started to walk around the area on the other side of the room. She walked until she faced the sofas where she then stopped.

"Why?" She asked nothing. "I don't want to though." She said in a more distressed tone. Sohee glanced at Jae who was just intently watching Hyerim. "No don't do anything to him, please." She begged. "Okay fine, fine... But only because you threatened."

"Go get Tae." Jae told Sohee as they saw Hyerim get out a small pocket knife, which Jae now pieced together that she was twiddling before. Sohee ran out the room and went to go look for Taeyang, as Jae Eun put down his drink and went over to Hyerim.

He kept a distance from her as she had a weapon and wasn't in the best states of mind. Hyerim didn't look at him as she outstretched her arm and gripped onto the blade in her hand.

"Hyerim." Jae said. Hyerim's head snapped up and she looked scared.

"No! Don't come near me okay!" She shouted. "I'm fine! You can go now." She smiled sweetly.

Jae's eyes flickered from the blade back up to Hyerim's face.

"What are you doing?" He asked her.

"I'm just doing something important. Don't worry though, it's for a good reason." She vaguely explained. "It's beneficial." She chirped.

Jae heard footsteps behind him and saw Hyerim's face drop as she saw who walked in.

"Ri, don't go doing that." Taeyang's calm voice said. He walked into the room and went up to where Jae was standing. "Put the knife away, don't do what they've told you okay? They don't tell you to do good things."

Hyerim frowned at his words and stepped back, creating more space between them.

"You don't know what they said!" She protested. "They'll hurt you if I don't."

"They can't hurt me. You've seen me fight, I can take them on easily." Tae lied and took a step forward. Hyerim placed the blade against the skin on her lower forearm, just above her wrist. "No no no Hun, don't do that." He said quickly yet calmly, making sure he didn't raise his voice.

"I can't take the risk." She said, her voice now just as calm as Taeyang's. She pressed down and dragged the blade down her forearm.

"No don't!" Taeyang yelled and ran towards Hyerim who dragged a second line on her wrist, but now going across. He grabbed the knife from her hand and threw it across the room. Sohee rushing to pick it up incase she went to get it again.

"Why did you do that?" Hyerim asked Taeyang angrily. Tae grabbed her arm and examined the cuts that were now bleeding, the scars from the other recent times she's done this were still healing and he sighed.

"You need to stop listening to them Ri, they aren't good." He said to her in a serious voice. "You didn't take your tablets again, did you?" He questioned and Hyerim shook her head. "Come on, let's get these sorted out." He said and wrapped an arm around her shoulders, leading her down to the doctors where she seemed to be going a lot more recently.

Jae watched as they left and Taeyang nodded at both Sohee and Jae Eun. His eyes followed them as the two left the room.

"I forget she gets like that until I see it." Sohee said as she placed the knife on the table.

"Same. She keeps forgetting to take her pills, she's gonna carry on like this if she doesn't start remembering." Jae Eun commented, sitting down at the breakfast bar.

"She's lucky she has someone like Tae though." Sohee added.

"Yeah. He's a nice guy. Annoying as fuck most of the time, like Jesus, can he not try to-"

"-you were saying he's a nice guy." Sohee interrupted. Jae glanced at her and rolled his eyes.

"He is a nice guy. He's patient with her." He commented quietly.

"We all need a Taeyang in our lives." Sohee sang as she started to head for the door. She stopped in the doorway and turned around to look at Jae Eun once more before she left. "Have you seen Minseo anywhere? I've not seen him for a couple of days." She asked.

"Nope. I've noticed it's been a lot quieter so I wouldn't go searching too soon." He muttered and took a sip from his cup of coffee.

"Charming." Sohee said before turning and leaving the room.
