Tik tik
Fellow Filipinos would know what this things are.
Tik tik are mythical creatures that takes the form of a giant bird. However, this things are extremely dangerous. How you may ask? I'll tell you.
Tik tiks are the kind of creatures that mostly haunt for meat to eat, and by meat I mean HUMAN MEAT. They usually prey on unborn children, and one of them tried their luck on me.
When I was still inside my mother's womb, our place used to be a province. Today, you'll see buildings and tiny houses. Before that, this place is like a town in the middle of a forest. Trees grew enormously, enough to hold a tree house. My dad grew up in a province, and mom grew up somewhere else (but not in the province) before they moved here. Actually this is where my mom carried me in her stomach.
Since dad grew up pretty much in the province, he is very aware of the supernatural. Mom can't see them, but she also have a high sensitivity to the supernatural as well. So this one happened while I'm still an unborn fetus.
One night, my mom and dad were asleep. They were near the window, the room being at the very corner of the house. So they can see everything outside. Before, outside that window are our neighbor's house and gigantic trees. A huge vacant lot it is.
Anyways, mom was awakened by dad and moved her from the window to the other side of the room near the dining room. Mom was confused, she saw dad pour salt all over the window. The next day, dad told mom that he heard something from outside and poured salt all over the window for protection.
Mom told me it was a Tik Tik. Tik tiks usually makes sounds like this, "Tik.....tik....tik" hence their name. Salt acts like burning embers on such entity, and so does garlic and other spices.
So, if dad did not knew about this sooner, I probably didn't existed right now typing this story.
