Prologue
A.N. So my prequel, "Odd Squad V.S. the Laser Chickens" was a hit and I decided to make another one. Here's the first chapter! (For those who want the details, it's been since September since I've written anything odd squad related)
Otis's POV
"What me and my partner would like for everyone to take away from this is that you should never ever fight laser chickens alone; they are really dangerous. And leave Ocean to the Arctic room everybody. My book table is over by the sand box where I'll be signing all my copies! Oh, and also, there are chips and French fries in the back with drinks. Just no ketchup, Ms. O destroyed the last tomato in the universe. Olympia out!"
My partner skipped over to her table where she was selling her Odd Odysseus book to the other agents. I read it, and it was quite informal. There was some training information and troubleshooting along with the fiction.
Olympia and I got back from the hospital a week ago, and things started to get back to normal. We didn't know where Odd Todd had gone, but we were sure that this wasn't the last of him.
Olympia had, as she promised, made it up to me after the whole chicken incident blew over by taking me out for some ice cream with Dr. O, Oona, and Oscar. She had decided to write about what actually happened in her book along with her story. She just finished it two days ago and now she was officially publishing it. Well, to Odd Squad anyways.
"Hey, Otis!" Olympia waved me over to her table which was packed with crowded agents.
"Could you maybe help me out a little over here?" She asked with her big puppy eyes.
"Sure, what do you want me to do?" She dropped a load of books into my arms.
"I have a lot of things to do, I can't tell you what yet but could you take over my book table for a little bit? Don't worry, the copies are already signed so you won't have to impersonate my one of a kind handwriting, you'd just have to sell them for me and make sure that Orchid doesn't sneak any- HANDS OFF, GIRL!" Orchids sighed and left.
"I got this, don't worry." She smiled brightly and ran upstairs into the paper room next to Ms. O's office. I wondered what she was hiding from me.
Maybe she's just getting more copies? No, she would have told me that.
I was still by myself an hour later, keeping an eye on the paper room door. She hadn't come out once.
That's strange. Well, everything Olympia does isn't exactly normal.
I knew that that excuse wasn't gonna cut it. My curiosity was going crazy!
"Hey Otis" O'Malley smiled.
"Hey O'Malley. You wanna buy a copy of Olympia's book?"
He nodded. "Yup, Oflanaranahanahan said it was good so I had to check it out. Oh and also, Ms. O wanted me to remind you that your cleaning duties are tomorrow. You and Olympia are assigned to clean the rooms on the first floor from the donut room to the Parallelaland room. Bright and early, remember that Otis!"
"Yeah. Bright and early. So excited." I sighed, cleaning up Olympia's empty book boxes. I glanced over at the clock. 8:34? It's late, maybe I should check on her. No, then that might ruin her secret. Sure she can't keep a grudge on anyone but I shouldn't.
I wondered what the Parallelaland room was, I hadn't ever heard of it before. Maybe it was new. Maybe.....
