Pulmonary Fibrosis
Pulmonary Fibrosis...
A killer with no consequences...
At the of her diagnosis...
It must have read like a death sentence...
Operations only leading to more operations...
Weakening if not just totally taking her will to fight...
She was losing the fight of her life...
Which meant that she was losing her life...
She decided to fight PF with her life...
Research medicine is usually an experiment that hastens an inevitably outcome...
Especially when dealing with terminal diseases...
She decided that since she was going to die that she would die fighting...
We selfishly only wanted to keep her with us for as long as possible...
She...
Only wanted to stop suffering!!!
There was no middle ground...
We had to let her do what she knew was the best thing...
I checked...
A few years back out of curiosity and to make myself feel better...
Pulmonary Fibrosis is no longer the killer that it once was...
Still deadly but survivable...
And while it did help a little, nothing, no knowledge or outcome will ever replace my mother...
As a matter of fact, though I am proud that she had the courage to make a difference...
A resentment welled up in me thinking that if more people had done what she did then maybe she would be a survivor...
It could not have been an easy decision for her and we know that it was what was best....
But watching as she deteriorated was the toughest thing that I have lived through...
