Smile! (Crown x Female! Reader)
Why didn't people like him? This thought ran through (Y/N)'s mind on a daily basis as she gazed at her classmate, Crown. Was it because he was a gijinka? Surely not, since many of them were well liked in the school.
His personality, maybe? (Y/N) shook her head, nearly immediately dismissing the thought. So many of the people at (HS/N) adored tsunderes. So that couldn't be it. She gazed at Crown from her seat, noticing that he was staring out the window, that well-known scowl plastered on his face.
Had she ever seen him smile? Wracking her brain for a memory of what it looked like, (Y/N) came up with nothing.
'That's it!' she thought, smiling to herself. The bell for the next class then rang, causing everyone to gather their things to leave. (Y/N) hurried over to Crown, causing him to jump slightly as he saw her, not having heard her approach.
"What is it?" he grunted, his crimson orbs gazing up at her with a hint of annoyance. "Why don't you smile?" Crown blinked, arching his eyebrows in surprise. "Eh...? What?"
"You're always scowling. If you smiled, you might be able to make friends! Why don't you?" Getting over the surprise, he Crown glared at (Y/N) as he stood, bumping her slightly due to her hovering over him. "I don't need friends" he sneered, hastily grabbing his bag and heading to his next class.
Later...
As lunch came, (Y/N) glanced ahead at Crown, who was a few desks in front of her. His mood had soured (if even possible) since earlier. Surely, it was because of what she said. She saw him moving towards the door, jarring her from her thoughts. Following behind, (Y/N) found that he was headed to the roof.
The loud creak of the rusty hinges alerted Crown to her presence, the boy narrowing his eyes at her. "Oh. What do I owe the pleasant surprise?" (Y/N) looked to the side awkwardly. She'd followed without thinking of what to say.
"I... I'm sorry..." Crown raised an eyebrow at her words. "You probably have a reason for doing what you do, and... I shouldn't have assumed what you wanted." Crown's expression remained the same, as if judging the weight that she put behind her words. Then a large gust of wind came, both teens' hair swaying along with it.
A plastic bag carried by the wind hit (Y/N)'s face, causing her to shriek in surprise, stumbling backwards. She struggled with it for a few seconds until it was removed. A snicker came from in front of (Y/N), drawing her attention. Her eyes widened at the sight.
Crown stood there with a playful grin, his teeth on full display. (Y/N)'s heart skipped a beat as she was frozen in place. "Guess the last people up here left their trash" he stated.
"I... forgive you... I guess." Crown turned, and as if correcting himself, met her gaze seconds later, his usual expression returning. "But I don't want you trying to come up with a plan or something to get me to be 'sociable'. Got it?" (Y/N) nodded, still unmoving as Crown walked past her, down the stairs.
She still didn't understand his reasoning. But just being able to see his smile made (Y/N) feel as if everything would be alright. He had things handled. It certainly didn't have to do with a certain thought that she had, wanting to keep the treasure to herself.
Not at all.
So how is it? Let me know in the comments below. This is the first reader insert I've ever done. I can already see ways it could be better, but all in all, I still like it. Criticism is welcome!
