Prologue
"Asria, are you sure this is what you truly want to do for the rest of your life? Living in a submarine underwater?" Natalie, Asria's mom, asked.
Asria sighed as she zipped up a duffel bag.
"Mom, dad, we talked about this already multiple times. I've already met all of the requirements, plus some, and I've already made up my mind. I mean, marine biology, animals, adventure, danger, oceanic exploration, it's my dream. That's all I want in life. And it's right there too. It's too close for me to give it up now. Why can't you and dad understand that?" She letured as she worked on packing up another duffel bag.
"Baby, you know we just want the best for you and we want to protect you. But we can't do that if your I don't how many fathoms deeo in the middle of the ocean" Gerald stated as he walked in.
"And I get that. But you guys have to understand that I'm not a child anymore. I'm perfectly capable of taking care of myself. I'm a fully grown woman who knows what she wants for her life. And I'm sorry if you guys still don't support it" Asria stated firmly as she packed up some high end electronics into her duffel bag.
Natalie and Gerald both looked at each other and sighed as they finally realized that they weren't going to be able to change their daughter's mind. Not when she was this close to her life long dream.
"Alright then, if this is truly what you want, then you have to make at least one promise to us" Natalie stated.
"And that is...?" Asria said as she paused her packing.
Natalie sighed and walked over to her daughter, embracing her in a tight hug.
"Promise to give us a call every once in a while, please?" She begged, making her daughter chuckle a bit.
"I promise mom" she said, hugging back.
Gerald couldn't hold himself back and rushed in the join the embrace, and the family shared what would be their last hug for a long, long time...
