One Hell of a Meeting

You took your time flying down to get a good look at the other pirate crews and Captains. Cypher chose to keep watch from the top of the castle, wrapped around one of the spires like he was guarding it. You liked the effect it had. Nothing said don't fuck with the Kid pirates like a wyvern occupying the castle.

You lighted down right in front of the doors and saw Killer waiting for the other captains to arrive. Kid was probably off somewhere else, trying to keep his temper in check.

"Hiya hot stuff." You walked towards him slowly, eyes wandering around the surrounding scenery.

"Hi yourself." You could hear the smile in his voice. "I think you're going to want to steer clear of the meeting."

"I know, I just wanted to see what kinds of friends Kid makes in his free time."

"Spoiler; the shitty kinds."

"Yeah...that looks about right."

Killer folded his arms as he watched the two captains approach and you did the same, jutting one hip out to the side and looking like some sort of much less intimidating mini me.

You noticed Scratchmen first. He was bouncing around energetically at he talked the ear off a very bored looking Hawkins. His long arms flailed about as he grinned widely, showing off his strange piano key teeth. Hawkins only had eyes for you and Killer as he ignored his companion. His long blonde hair fell neatly about his shoulders and the expression he wore was all business. There couldn't have ever been a more opposite pairing.

When they were close enough, Scratchmen finally noticed you two. "Where's Kid?"

You were about to say something snarky back but Killer quickly covered your mouth with a hand and answered instead.

"Inside. He'll be with us shortly." You tugged his hand away with a frown and then he addressed you. "(Y/n), why don't you go let him know they're here?"

That was code for 'I need you to go away so you don't say something stupid'. Sometimes Killer knew you all too well.

"Sure." You gave in and turned to head inside. You had one of the doors opened and were about to step in when Hawkins stopped you.

"Those wings look rather.....delicate."

You looked over your shoulder to see him looking through a deck of tarot cards, with a still seemingly bored expression.

"So is Kid's temper if he's kept waiting." You shot back.

"There's a 40% chance they might be irreparably damaged in the near future."

Your wings pressed tightly into your back as you stomped away without a word. Hawkins was known for his fortune telling and he had a knack for being extremely accurate in what he predicted. But his comment made you angry. There was no way you'd let that happen. He had to be wrong about it.

You walked through the halls to Kid's room, where you figured he'd be, trying to convince yourself nothing bad was going to happen. When you got to his door, you knocked probably a little harder than necessary. He didn't answer right away so you did it again. Halfway through, the door swung open and Kid greeted you with a snarl.

"What the fuck do you need?"

"Your damn friends are here. Take care of them." You said and turned on your heel to go stew somewhere else.

"What's got your panties in a twist?" He grumbled a little less aggressively. It seemed your anger was enough to match his.

"Hawkins said my wings might get ruined soon and he better be wrong."

Kid scoffed as he pushed past you. "Of course he is. Quit worrying over it."

Sure. You'd work on that.

----

You spent some time wandering the castle until you felt relaxed enough to hover around the meeting room Killer had set up for this whole ordeal. You sat near the door, legs pulled up and chin resting on your knees comfortably. It got a little loud behind it on more than one occasion. Sometimes it sounds like a fight was about to break out. Other times it was more glee filled, raised voices. Or voice you guess. Scratchmen had a habit of getting a little rambunctious from what you could tell.

Eventually the door opened and everyone filed out. Kid looked grumpy, but not bad all things considered. Scratchmen had a smug, content look on his face, while Hawkins and Killer were as unreadable as always.

"I didn't know you had a woman Kid." Scratchmen said as he peered down at you. You could feel his gaze lingering at the marks on your neck.

"I don't." Kid grumbled.

"Oh." His eyes lit up with interest. "Then you must be–"

"I'm with Killer." You cut him short as you got up, seeing the sudden disappointment in his eyes. There was no way you'd let him think of you as the Kid Pirates' handy whore, which was exactly what he had in mind.

To help drive the point home, Killer wrapped an arm around your waist and tugged you closer to him. Annoyance radiated off of him. So much for him marking you up help keep other men away. Scratchmen almost took it as an invitation.

"That's disappointing." He said as he wandered off.

Hawkins quickly took his place and offered you a slight bow of the head, much to your surprise.

"I apologise if what I said earlier caused you any anger but I thought it was something you should know. It is important to be prepared for any possibility."

"Oh, it's fine I guess..." You were definitely taken aback by the apology. Other pirates usually weren't this polite. Or maybe you'd just gotten used to the oh so friendly Kid pirate attitude.

With that, he left and you realized Kid was gone as well, leaving just you and Killer.

"So am I right in assuming the meeting went well? No one died." You asked Killer as he started leading you down the hall.

"It did. They're forming an alliance and we'll start moving towards taking down a yonko soon enough."

"Do you think we're tough enough for that?"

"Do you think we're not?" You could hear the confidence in his voice.

"I'm just worried that going for a yonko right away is a little risky."

"With three captains we'll be able to do it."

He was so sure of it that it erased some of your own doubts. But you couldn't stop thinking about what Hawkins said about your wings. His apology made it sound like he did have your best interests in mind and was trying to help. Or maybe he was trying to mess with your head. You didn't know what he'd gain from doing something like that but part of you wanted to believe that was a possibility.

Killer took you up to the same spire he had the other day and both of you sat in the open window together, backs against the stone and legs in a tangle as you faced each other. The sun was setting once again as the other two pirate crews made their way inland for the evening. They'd stay the night and then leave the next day. You and everyone else would do the same right after and make your way to the next destination.

Kid would hopefully get a chance to blow off some steam and then you'd begin with whatever exactly the plan was for the alliance. It all sounded simple enough. And with help, maybe Kid wouldn't be running headlong into trouble.

"(Y/n)." Killer tapped your knee with a finger. "You look like you're overthinking things."

"I think I am." You sighed.

"Don't let Hawkins get to you. I won't let anything bad happen to you."

"It's not just that." You stretched a wing through the window ever so slightly before tucking it tightly against your back once again. "We're going to have a lot going on soon."

"Your last captain was never this busy, was he?" He began rubbing along your leg comfortingly instead.

"Busy drinking." You smiled and watched the sun continue to go down.

"We'll get plenty of that in between everything."

Now you laughed. "That sounds nice."

"This is probably all different than what you're used to. We've been taking things pretty easily for a while now. Kid needed time to adjust to losing his arm but now he must feel ready to move on."

"On with what?"

"He wants to be king of the pirates, to find the one piece treasure. It's time to get moving so he can do that."

"A lot of people are looking to do that." You murmured. Kid wasn't a special case. It'd take a lot for him to be able to compete with the best of the best.

"Not all of them have what it takes though."

"You think Kid does?"

"Of course." Killer didn't miss a beat. "He's my captain after all. We have to have faith in his strength."

"Yeah. You're right there."

With a bit of effort, you scooted around and backed into Killer. He practically scooped you up and got you settled in his lap. Getting adjusted on an open window sill wasn't the smartest idea, but you weren't afraid of taking a little tumble.

"As long as you're here to keep him from doing anything too stupid."

"Always." Killer rumbled behind you.

He rested his chin on your shoulder, tickling your neck with his breath. It amazed you how much of a softie he could be. Despite all the other crewmate's constant complaints about how open you were with each other around the ship, Killer did a good job of keeping "work" and his more personal life separate. You were almost positive that besides you, Kid was the only other person who had seen how sweet he could really be.

"Hey Killer?"

"Hmm?"

"You're the best, you know that?"

He laughed silently as he squeezed you. "What's that, your way of saying I love you?"

You blushed. That was something neither of you had said to each other yet. Killer preferred showing you versus telling you about his affections and you....well you just didn't know how to get to the point of saying it. You sure felt like you loved him though.

"I, uh well..." You struggled to figure out what to say.

There was a click as he took his mask off. The sun was down and no one would be able to see him if they were to peek up to your spot on the spire window. He kissed up your neck, to your jaw, and finally your lips. You were a sucker for his kisses and it showed. When he pulled away you finally found your words.

"I love you Killer."

"Love you too feathers."

You pouted at the nickname and that only made his shoulders shake as he laughed.

"Do you really have to call me that? Literally everyone else gives me enough shit about my wings."

"You know I love them."

He palmed the base of your wings until you squeaked and blushed. They could be very sensitive depending on how they were touched and Killer knew that all too well. He ran his fingers through your feathers until he tugged out a loose one. There was one giant silver splotch on it that caught the moonlight perfectly, making it look like a pool of liquid metal.

"We'll tackle everything one day at a time." He said twirling the feather around. "But for now, I think I've earned that reward."

"Well, no one died." You noted.

"And that's a job well done with Kid around."

"You could say that again." You giggled as you slipped off the the window sill and back into the castle, Killer following close behind.

Sorry this is so late in the day. I've been having truck problems for months now and finally got the problem figured out and the part installed today. Now there's something else to fix. Go figure.
