Frost's POV

I slashed around almost blindly. I was scared that if I flew out of control, it might destroy everything. Snapper was attacking faster than anyone.

I could hardly see his sword but I managed to dodged effectively. Just as I felt a glow of hope, Leaf suddenly pushed me down. She stabbed me hard with her sword. Darkness flooded over me.

Leaf's POV

Snapper was challenging the girl. She was quite skillful, I must admit. I realised that Snapper was becoming tired. He needs help! I thought.

I carefully sneaked up behind the girl and attacked her. I saw her eyes widened with shock. Blood poured out of her wound. I stared, horrified at what I have done.

I stabbed her. "I...I didn't mean to kill her," I stammered, shaken. Even when fighting against the squids, I never killed before.

Frost's POV

Darkness. I tried to remember what happened. Leaf. She came out of nowhere. Stabbed me.

You will not die, my inter self reassured me. Thanks, I thought sarcastically. The void's darkness. But a light glow in front of me. I immediately bounced into it.

I woke up. I saw dried blood on the grass. I blinked and saw Snapper talking to Leaf. She looked so distraught. The stab wound disappeared.

When Leaf saw me, she gasped, "You are alive!" I felt too dizzy to reply. Snapper glared at me. "How are you alive? This is a hardcore world. Why can you be alive and others can't?"

"I am an Ancient," I muttered half sarcastically. He turned away with a snort of disgust. "Whatever is it, you will be die because of siding with the evil squids!"

"What evil squids? Ocean is not evil!" I said. "Not evil?" Snapper's voice rose to a scream. "They tortured all of our brave recruits and killed them in front of us when we couldn't save them!"

"Sir, we have captured the squid," someone interupted. Ocean was squealing in fright. "She's not evil!" I shouted. "We shall see," Snapper said. "If that squid can prove it loyalty, it will not be harmed."

Ocean's POV

"What?" I couldn't help myself from screaming. Snapper obviously don't understand for he gave me a smirk.

"You will have to become human," he continued. I looked at Frost's reaction. Her face was strangly expressionless. "You can't do this to me!" I shouted.

"Yes he can," another person retorted. "Shut up, Dane," Snapper snapped at the person.

"Don't worry, Ocean," Frost said slowly and carefully. I tried to protest but I thought better of it and shut my mouth.

Snapper stared at me in triumph and said, "Time to head back to the base." The rest followed him. Why life is so complicated? I thought.
