Ocean Genesis

Avatar: The way of water

Ki' Luyke was a great friend to Aonung. They grew up together, trained together and in the end would fought like brothers together, though as he grew up his eyes wondered to his sister. Li' Aeyana. He himself was one of the youngest hunters of the clan. He was tall, broad and handsome though Li' Aeyana never showed interest in him at all.

He could not understand why- he was everything a girl could want in a mate, he told himself. Not only was he strong willed but also charming. Always believing that he could have any one of the women of the clan but only had his eyes on her.

Li' Aeyana however found him exceedingly arrogant and rude. He would boast amongst young boys, reminding them how less than they were all to them.

She knew her parents had an interest in him becoming her mate, which she refused and she thanked the great mother she fought for her own hand rather than be handed to Ki' Luyke. Not only was he rude but he was incredibly jealous.

Even as children, he hated how much attention she caught from boys. She was beautiful that he could not deny but he wished Li' Aeyana would be more modest.

Not constantly seeking the attention on her. She was a great hunter, if not the best. She sometimes behaved in a way he could not find attractive- unwomanly as his father told him, but she was the daughter of Tonowari. So he kept his complaints silent. That was until she was presented to Eywa after taking her own hand.

He could have made peace with the fact that she would be promised to another- but herself?! To Ki' Luyke it was unacceptable, a humiliation to their way of life. She had to be betrothed to another- but why herself and more importantly why not him.

He tried so many times to win her affection but to none avail. He tried desperately to show her his interests hoping she would return the attraction but she cared little for what he did. On numerous accounts telling him that he wasted her time- he always assumed she was in denial but the visit of their new guest changed his perspective. Returning from hunting he looked across the sea to see her with them. The Sully's.

Freaks born with demon blood.

It baffled him how much interest she showed in them. They were not worthy of her time or care but it was one in particular that fuelled his anger. The eldest son.

He noticed how much time she spent with him. Flying with him whenever she could, their private lessons as Roxto told him. He walked across the reef as he watched her with him. She smiled at him in a way she never cared to with him. They seemed more than just comfortable with one another.

"You can stop staring at my sister. You know how she feels." Aonung rolled his eyes at his scowling friend as their group walked along the reef. Since claiming her tsurak all Ki' Luyke had done was complain about Li' Aeyana breaking tradition, to the point where even Aonung had grown tired of him

"Does it not bother you? She seems too comfortable around them. All of those freaks!" Ki' Luyke exclaimed

"There was nothing I could do. My father asked us to train them, even if they are freaks." Aonung replied

"What do you know of him?" Ki' Luyke "The Sully boy she's with now." Aonung looked across to see Neteyam follow behind Li' Aeyana as they dived under the waves "Has she you know-" he looked back to his friends "Are they mated?" To this Aonung shoved Ki' Luyke taken a back by his bold question

"That is not your concern." Roxto quickly defended Li' Aeyana "You should stop before she hits you again." The rest snickered and laughed having not forgotten when Li' Aeyana defended herself when he attempted to kiss her. She hit harder than he expected from a girl, his eye bruised for longer than he wanted it to be.

"Speaking of freaks, looks like we've got one here." Ki' Luyke eyed Kiri who was face down in shallow in water as she admired the sand.

Before Li' Aeyana could even make sense of it all she was following behind Neteyam who marched up to the beach. She did not understand what was happening around her, but she could tell by Aonung and Ki' Luyke's arrogant smirks that it only meant trouble. She stood next to Kiri holding her hand as Kiri backed them away.

Neteyam shoving Aonung as he stood toe to toe against her brother "Back off." He warned them as she could tell by her brothers amusement, he would not.

"Aonung, don't." To which he rolled his eyes. Ki' Luyke had spend the day ingraining it in his mind how his sister not only humiliated him but Aonung himself.

How she had proven to be the better warrior- Ki' Luyke was someone who would push his friends to their worst limit only to benefit from it himself. "Father said to be at peace with them. Leave, now." she ordered as he slowly backed away

Neteyam nodded his to her command "Smart choice." he remarked as he eyed them all, in particular Ki' Luyke who's eyes trailed to Kiri and Li' Aeyana "And from now on, I need you to respect my sister."

Ki' Luyke sneered as Li' Aeyana hissed "Leave all of you." as she released Kiri's hand to approach her brother , firmly gripping her twins shoulder "You and I are are going to talk, right now." She gripped his shoulder tighter as he slapped her hand away turning to Lo'ak, Kiri and Neteyam

"You can go, I'll handle them." she replied to which Kiri stuck her tongue out to Aonung and Ki' Luyke. Barely turning around as she saw Lo'ak make his way back to them

"Lo'ak." Neteyam called

"I got this bro." Lo'ak replied stepping in front of Aonung. Li' Aeyana taking a stand aside as eyed warning to Neteyam and Kiri "I know this hand is funny." He held his five fingered hand to Aonung

"I'm a freak. Alien. But it can do something really cool, watch. First I ball it up real tight like this, see? Then-" Before Li' Aeyana could break the tension arising Lo'ak fist struck Aonung's face "It's called a punch bitch!" Aonung fell backwards in the sand as he looked stunned to the youngest Sully boy "Don't ever touch my sister again!" Lo'ak spat as Aonung's friends did not take kindly to this.

They charged towards Lo'ak as they hurled punches to him. She stood irritated next to Kiri as she watched Aonung and Lo'ak drag each other by the ears and tails. She glanced to Neteyam who shrugged as he signed

sorry, I have to-

it's fine. Aonung is being stupid again. she signed back

Neteyam rushed to his brother as he was tackled by Ki' Luyke. This scared Li' Aeyana as he was viciously trying to hurt Neteyam to which the Sully boys quickly overpowered them. Ki' Luyke pulled Neteyam by the hair as his fist hit Neteyam gut, screams and cries could be heard between the boys as Li' Aeyana had grown more than frustrated.

"So stupid!" Kiri scolded them all unable to hide her laugh watching Li' Aeyana pull Lo'ak, Neteyam and Aonung and Ki' Luyke apart. Her hands pinching tightly on Aonung's ear

"I said enough! All of you!" The fight dispersed when the shadow of her fathers tsurak flew over them. Tonowari walked from the ocean to see the dispute. The blood spilt between the boys told him more than he needed to know. Looking to Li' Aeyana and Aonung

"That is enough!" he called "From all of you!"

Inside their Marui pod Tonowari looked between his eldest children clearly disappointed in the truth that revealed itself "Aonung, you disappoint me. They are sons of Toruk Makto. You will apologize to his children-"

"But father-"

"Enough." Tonowari coldly replied "Go now." Aonung sighed in defeat as he left their pod leaving father and daughter alone. Unlike Aonung, Li' Aeyana was still in tact with not a scratch or blood on her skin as she looked to her father "It was good of you to stop them. It could have gone worse."

"Yes, it could have. Ki' Luyke was there too." she answered "He could have hurt h- them. He could have hurt them." She changed her words as she realized the name that almost escaped her mouth, her father taking notice as his face softened

"You seem protective over them. Especially-"

"Father please." she begged

"Did I say anything?" he playfully asked wrapping her arm around his daughter's shoulder as they exited the pod

"You were going to and I would not like it."

"I did not say anything." He laughed "There's nothing wrong with it. He seems like a nice boy from what I can tell. His father is very proud of him." Tonowari prompted as Li' Aeyana could hid her face in her hands from her father "I ask you to just please not mate him."

"No! I don't want to hear this!" she cried unable to look her father in the eye

"What? This is something we must discuss-"

"Father please stop!" she laughed revealing the tears from her laughter "You are the last to speak of this to me!"

It had become a regular habit for Neteyam and Li' Aeyana to meet each other at the cove. It was their unspoken special place, the only place they could escape their family. The two realizing that they had more in common than they thought.

"Didn't think I'd see you so soon here." his voice is shaky and hoarse despite his efforts to mask it.

Li' Aeyan smiled gently taking a seat next to him as she noticed the bruising on his middle. "I hope you and Lo'ak did not get into too much trouble because of Aonung. Feel like I should say sorry because of him."

"It is fine." Neteyam quietly answered.

"Neteyam, what's wrong? Is it your father? Is it Kiri?" she asked turning to face him as she sat closer to him. Hesitating as she decided to take his hand.

"Yes, everything is fine." He answered, not even being able to convince himself "No, its not." He retracted his words "My father is upset but he understands. I just wished I could make it easy for all of them. They're not freaks like everyone says. Not to me." He kept his eyes cast on her hand "I just wish things were easier. For all of us."

It was rare for Neteyam to open up. To anyone. He'd grown so used to swallowing his emotions that it came to a surprise to even him how easily he opened up , perhaps because it was her. He normally hated being vulnerable, doubtful even. "What's worse is nothing I say or do helps, at all. I feel like I fail my brother and sisters sometimes." He deeply confessed as Li' Aeyana held his hand tighter

"Never." She disagreed "If it were anyone else who mocked Tsireya, I would have fought too. Anyone can see you protect them, even them." She consoled him "You are failure to no one."

"You're just saying that."

"No, I'm not. I'm never this nice to anyone." She quickly answered "You carry too much on your shoulders because you love your family. Not everyone is like that." She indirectly referred to herself

"You're best is more than enough, even though no one tells you so." She looked down to their hands unable to look him in the eye. Each day Li' Aeyana found it harder to deny the possibility that she could have feelings for him. Everything felt easy and safe with him and her mind could not tell her why she felt this way.

Her eyes rose to his eyes. "Neteyam..." she could not deny it anymore. She felt something, something she had never shared with anyone before "I see you." She signed to him unable to find the words to describe everything she thought and felt toward him. To this Neteyam did not hesitate to reach his hand over her heart, a small smile breaking through the sadness.

I see you. He signed back. Both realizing that something felt different between them now. It did not feel like a friendship anymore, it felt like something more. Something deeper.

Authors note:

Tonowari being a dadgirl, yeah that's Canon because I say so.

Second of all tysm to all the votes and comments, I did not expect this book to receive this much attention like at all
At this point I'm just writing so much filler because I do not want to get into the plot of the movie, like it's too sad and I haven't figured out how I wanna end the book so enjoy these chapters
