Chapter 47: Returning Class
Second update of the day.
*Izuku's POV*
The day after Shoto and I went on our date, our fellow students began to return to the dorms. Iida was the first to arrive back. He bowed and apologised to Shoto, Kacchan and I profusely before we told him it was ok and he could stop bowing. I was quite concerned about his back health with how much the poor boy bowed. The next few people to return were the Bakusquad and Kyoka. They burst through the door energetically and bounced into the kitchen where Kaminari and Sero wreaked havoc by attempting to cook on the stovetop. Only for a tea towel to burst into flames because they didn't take it off of the hob. Shoto had to put it out with a chilly breeze. Next Ochako walked through the front door with a wide smile on her face, although she seemed to have a different aura around her. She just seemed stronger. After Ochako, all of the rest of my classmates returned quickly, most of them filtered off into their own rooms or their friend's rooms. Only Kyoka, Kacchan, Ochako, Momo, Shoto, Tsu, Mina and I remained in the sitting room. We were all talking about our internships.
"It was awesome. Gunhead is so sweet! He taught me how to disarm someone who's attacking you with a knife. Oh, also he taught me martial arts, only a little bit though. It was so fun! What about you Yaomomo?" Ochako was bouncing in her seat. Her and Tsu were sharing a sofa with Mina who was poking fun at Kacchan whilst simultaneously asking Kyoka to give her singing lessons. Yaomomo fiddled with her hair slightly before losing her upright posture and slouching into the sofa. "I must say that I was expecting a bit more from my internship. Uwabami made Itsuka Kendo and I do a hair spray commercial. I didn't get to see any sort of hero work being done, just Uwabami being swarmed by her fans." Momo sighed in defeat. Kyoka patted her arm gently in reassurance, her face was slightly red as she did so, her crush couldn't be any more obvious. Yaomomo, whilst smart, didn't seem to realise Kyoka's feelings for her and just blushed in return. "My internship was quite eventful, kero. I helped Selkie take down some smugglers. It was an eventful fight, kero. Selkie fought very well." Tsuyu croaked. My eyes shone as I heard about my friend's internships. "What about you three? I heard you came across the Hero Killer: Stain!" Mina shouted enthusiastically. Kacchan tutted and let his head roll back so that it was leaning against the sofa. I had noticed that Kacchan was reluctant to speak about the incident. Whenever either Shoto or I brought it up he snapped at us and told us to shut up about it. I had a feeling that Stain's words were getting to Kacchan. Kacchan hated being doubted and Stain kept saying he wasn't worthy of being a hero, it had really put Kacchan down. "Yes, we came across Stain. It wasn't a pleasant experience by any means. We were all injured and Iida lost litres of blood. The experience was traumatic and it will forever be on my mind. I have no doubt that it will contribute to the PTSD that we will most likely develop when we graduate from school." Shoto drawled monotonously. Everyone looked at Shoto in shock. He had put a big damper on the general mood of the room. I looked around at everyone and saw the solemn looks on their faces. I laughed, sort of hysterically, and thumped Shoto on the arm. "Wow, Shoto! You're so funny! Geez, kill joy much!" I laughed trying to raise the atmosphere of the room. Everyone broke out of their horrified trances and laughed awkwardly before turning to the people sitting next to them and talking.
"You really need to work on reading the room," I whispered to my boyfriend. Shoto looked confused for a second before comprehension dawned on his features. He looked down at the floor somewhat embarrassed, "Sorry. I'm not the best at social interactions." he muttered abashedly. I smiled at him sweetly and took his hand into my own, "There's no need to apologise. Everyone does something a bit awkward. You'll pick it up soon enough." I assured him gently. He nodded slightly, a small smile working its way onto his face. He laid his head on my shoulder before quickly pecking my cheek and squeezing my hand. "OH. MY. FUCKING. GOD!" Mina screeched like a pterodactyl. Everyone flinched at the volume of her voice. I covered my ears for a second whilst making sure that Mina wasn't going to assault my eardrums again. "Wanna explain why the fuck you found it necessary to make my ears bleed!" Kacchan roared at Mina. She ignored him and started excitedly pointing at Shoto and I's intertwined hands. "Are you two dating?" She asked excitedly. We both nodded reluctantly, we didn't want to make a big deal of our relationship but Mina had just blown that plan. "That's so cute! Y'know, I thought that Todoroki would end up with Yaomomo and Izu would end up with Ochako but this is so cute as well. I didn't even know that you both liked boys. OMG! I could have totally helped you get together! I'm so happy for you.OMG! I can't wait until you get married! You should totally do a winter wonderland themed wedding!" Mina rambled. With every sentence she spoke I became redder and redder. I wanted to disappear from existence. Somehow, Shoto didn't seem very affected, he just looked into space and rubbed his chin. "If I hadn't met Izuku then I probably would have pursed Momo. She is very attractive after all, however that would never have worked since she's a lesbian. I'm not sure about Ochako and Izuku, if they had gotten together I would most likely have been very jealous." Shoto literally outed himself and Yaomomo without even batting an eyelash. "SHOTO!" Yaomomo and I exclaimed at the same time. Both of our faces were red with embarrassment. Shoto once again looked around the room in confusion before his brain caught up with his mouth and he had the audacity to look embarrassed. "Oh, I wasn't meant to say that," he whispered. I wanted to facepalm so hard at that moment. I looked over at Ochako to see that her face was red as well. Tsuyu had her hand on Ochako's thigh in what looked like a reassuring gesture. I narrowed my eyes and decided to ask about it later, seeing as Dad was yelling for everybody to serve themselves dinner from the food he and Papa had cooked.
"That was delicious, Aizawa Sensei!" Kirishima yelled enthusiastically. Dad merely nodded his head and continued to eat his food in the kitchen. I was sat next to Shoto and across from Kyoka. Kacchan had been dragged further down the table by Mina to sit with the Bakusquad. "So you've written a new song? If you let me see we could probably try to practice it. What's it called?" Kyoka asked as she swallowed her chicken. I finished my rice before placing my chopsticks down and replying to my best friend. "It's called 'Devil Town' (by Cavetown)," I answered her question. Kyoka nodded and asked me to send her and Kacchan the music for it so that they could analyse it before practice the next day. I was turning to address Shoto when several people gasped. I'll give you three guesses as to who was creating all the noise. "Is that a ring, Aizawa Sensei!" Sero gasped excitedly. The entire classes heads swivelled to look at my dad, like seagulls looking at a beachgoer with chips. "Oh yeah! You didn't have that when we left!" Kaminari piped up, staring at Shota's hand with a confused expression on his face. Mina spoke next. "Did you get married? Do you have a wife or husband?". Question upon question was thrown at my dad by the Bakusquad and a couple of the girls in my class. Ayoma even asked if they were as fabulous as him. Eventually, Dad seemed to have enough of the classes constant questions because he activated his quirk and glared at us all menacingly. Everyone was silenced by his glowing red eyes. "My love life is none of your concern now ple-" Dad began to chastise the class but the door to the Dad's room was thrown open and Papa walked out.
"SHOTA! Emi said she's gonna beat your ass because you didn't tell her about our engagement yourself!" Papa shouted loud enough for the people two dorms over to hear. Now you tell me if that seemed planned or not. Papa knew that the class was eating dinner, he was helping to prepare it, so why would he shout that unless he wanted the class to know? A majority of the class gasped at the revelation of who gave the ring to my dad. Of course, Kacchan, Shoto and I didn't react. Kyoka wasn't aware of their engagement and by the evil look she levelled at me when she got over her shock, I knew I was in for it. Yaomomo gasped delicately beside Kyoka. "Oh. That does make sense, they are quite close. Aizawa Sensei just never seemed the type to be involved with anyone romantically." she whispered to herself. If I hadn't been living with Shota for the majority of my life, I would have agreed with her.
Once everyone got over the initial shock of the revelation, whispers ran rampant amongst the assembled students. Most of these whispers originate from Mina, Kami, Kiri and Sero. Shinso and Kacchan just sat there looking bored as the 4 people around them whispered excitedly. "Be quiet you lot." Dad sighed. Everyone shut up and stared at Shota expectantly. "Let's just get this out of the way. Yes, Present Mic is my fiancè. It doesn't concern you and therefore I will not be answering questions. If anyone asks me any questions, I will send every single one of you to bed early." Shota deadpanned. The class didn't say a word. Dad nodded slightly before leaving the room, grabbing a beaming Hizashi by the ear and dragging him into his bedroom. The dining area was silent for a minute before everyone began to talk to their friends again, some people filtering into the living room or upstairs to their rooms.
"Izuku," Shoto whispered to me. We had been sprawled on his bed, our limbs entangled together as we watched a film on my laptop. Shoto's room was very classically Japanese. It's traditional, minimalistic style was very refreshing and made the room feel airy and light. "Yes, Shoto." I replied, my eyes were glued to the screen as I watched some cliche action film which always inexplicably drew me in. "Do you think Momo is angry with me?" he whispered. A rare display of emotion was intertwined with his voice, he only ever showed emotions when we were alone together, and normally said emotions were happiness and adoration. Shoto was becoming more open with the class, but he still rarely displayed emotions. "Why do you think she'd be angry with you?" I asked softly. I paused the film and sat up from between Shoto's legs so that I could face him and take his face into my hands. He placed his own hands on mine and leaned his head into my hands. "I accidentally outed her as a lesbian to her friends. She didn't want people to know because she was scared of their reaction. I knew that yet I still couldn't keep my mouth shut." Shoto sighed solemnly. I felt touched by the sincerity in his voice. He was genuinely beating himself up over the fact that he had let Momo's sexuality slip. "Don't worry, Sho, I'm sure Yaomomo is ok. I suggest that you speak to her tomorrow before or after school. Just to be 100% sure that she's ok. You didn't let it slip to the entire class, just a select pool of us. I'm sure nobody has told anyone else." I reassured my boyfriend with a gentle kiss on the crown of his head. Shoto nodded slowly. I looked over at the alarm clock on Shoto's bedside table and groaned at the time. It was 9: 50 pm. "I should go to my room. My dad is really strict when it comes to these sorts of rules." I groaned. Shoto nodded and let my hands go, allowing me to flop off of his bed and slip my slippers back onto my feet. "See you tomorrow." I smile at him, he returns the smile, making my heart flutter, as I close the room to his dorm. "Woah, dude. Are you and Todoroki dating?" A familiar voice asked quite suddenly from behind me, making me jump ever so slightly. I whipped around, laptop held securely to my chest, to see Kirishima standing behind me, a glass of milk securely in his hand. "K-K-Kiri! I didn't see you there!" I stuttered nervously. Kirishima looked at me slightly confused and opened his mouth to ask the question again but I quickly dodged the question by scurrying to my room. "Well, I should probably be getting to bed. You know how late it is! I'll see you in the morning!" I practically shouted, running into my room and slamming the door behind me.
I let out a sigh of relief as I slumped against the door. I wasn't opposed to people finding out about mine and Shoto's relationship. It was just a surprise seeing Kiri stood right there. I panicked and ran. I placed my laptop on my desk and prepared for bed. Pulling on my pyjamas and brushing my teeth before flopping onto my bed and staring at the picture on my bedside table. I fell asleep looking at the shining eyes of my departed mother.
My favourite part of this chapter was probably Mina rambling on about Shoto and Izuku's relationship. I don't have much to say this chapter. Anyway, thank you for reading chapter 47 of Occurrence and I hope you have a wonderful day wherever you are.
