Appearance: Boasting an impressively muscular frame [but not overly, WWE-style muscular; think Nozaki from Gekkan Shoujo Nozaki-kun if you've seen it] and an equally daunting height, Lakota is built for the adventurous lifestyle he leads. His tan skin is pockmarked with faded white scars, so much so that there's hardly an inch of perfectly intact skin left on his body. The only noticeable scar on his face is a thin white line that cuts through his lips, starting just under his nose, continuing over the curves of both lips, and ending at about the middle of his chin. His thick, lightly curled brown hair is long enough to shadow his green eyes. Typically, Lakota can be seen wearing a sleeveless brown hooded sweatshirt, lined with white fur and outfitted with extra pockets, khaki shorts, adaptable brown shoes, and a cowboy-style hat. His trusty whip is wound through one of the belt loops of his shorts for convenience.
Personality: Having been raised almost exclusively in the wilderness by his flighty parents, Lakota understandably lacks the usual manners of a man raised in society's good graces. As such, he can come off as crass without meaning to. He doesn't quite understand social norms, and so ends up irritating people when he refuses to shake hands, forgoes forks and knives, drops honorifics around pretty much everyone, etc. When people look past his untamed nature, however, they see that he's a lax man with little to no temper on most occasions and a charming smile (made somewhat endearing by his chipped canine).
Lakota does have several strange tendencies, such as his initial reaction to vicious predators (he often calls them "cuties" without regard to how easily they could tear him limb from limb) and his dulled, delayed reaction to pain (often only displaying his pain or discomfort at least thirty seconds after being assaulted). He's seen as slow for these habits, but in actuality, he's very perceptive, and can analyze a situation effectively and swiftly. He relies a great deal on his instincts, having honed them since he was young and in the company of numerous animals, and trusts his eyes less than his other senses.
Preferred Method of Fighting: Lakota more often than not works in conjuncture with Risu, or any other animal he's managed to bond with depending on his location, but on his own he's just as dangerous. His only true weapon is his whip, but he's perfected the art of handling it and can manipulate as if it were another of his limbs, making him terrifyingly accurate in his attacks. Additionally, he's fairly proficient with a number of firearms, and can make use of them in dire situations, though he no talent whatsoever for any type of blade.
Devil Fruit: Tsūshin-Tsūshin no Mi (Communication-Communication Fruit) Allows him to speak any language, even animalistic ones. As it has no practical combat purposes, he mostly uses it to simply communicate with the local animals and Risu, his saber-tooth tiger companion.
Short History: Lakota has no knowledge of his home island, as his parents traveled for most of the year and rarely returned to their island of origin, always bringing him and his older sister with them. His family is renowned for their ability to tame wild animals, and naturally, Lakota was gifted with the same talent, made only more successful by his Devil Fruit's abilities. His family hopped from island to island along the Grand Line, studying the local fauna and sometimes helping out with troublesome critters that threatened smaller villages and such.
When Lakota reached eighteen, he broke away from his family, setting out on his own journey much like sister had down several years prior. He happened upon Little Garden early in his travels and it was there he discovered the abandoned saber-tooth tiger cub, whose parents he'd concluded had been killed by poachers of some sort. Lakota instantly grew attached to the feeble cub, and decided he could raise it himself, and thus he carried the little cub around with him, naming it Risu after its perpetual grin.
Dream: Basically, he'd really like to wipe all poachers from the Grand Line (he doesn't specify whether he'd simply like them to be jailed, or if he has a more creative punishment set aside for them).
Miscellaneous
Likes: Animals of all kinds, warm, sandy beaches, the rustle of leaves on a quiet night, Risu (especially), annoying his older sister whenever they cross paths
Dislikes: Poachers, meat (he's a vegetarian)
Other: The scar slashing through his lips is from a time when Risu was just a baby and tried to hug him unexpectedly.
Character Song: Lion [Hollywood Undead]
