Appearance: Tall and slim, with chiseled features and entrancing golden eyes, Midas is quite the looker, a fact he uses to his advantage whenever possible. His tousled blonde hair has been grown out to shoulder-length, with the purpose of transforming himself from his past princely self in mind; it's often found obscuring his face from prying eyes, and he rarely ties it up unless he feels he's fairly safe in doing so. Typically, he dresses plainly, in a loose white-cotton shirt, partially tucked into long black pants, and sturdy black boots. He keeps a worn-leather satchel slung over his shoulder at all times, as it contains his few valuable possessions.

He's yet to gain any unsightly scars, though he occasionally has the stray thought that perhaps he should pick a fight and earn himself one, if only to further his constant disguise.

Personality: In the two or so years Midas has been on the run, he's seemingly changed very little in regards to his personality. He remains the arrogant, self-indulgent brat that first stole his Devil Fruit on a whim, a man who'd rather spend his time hopelessly flirting with the local girls than doing anything even remotely productive with his life. People who have the misfortune of crossing paths with him describe him as childish and crass, and feel better knowing they won't have to meet with him again. He's the type who seems as though he'll eventually run himself into the ground through drink or debauchery of some sort.

However, beneath his superficial layers, Midas is a man yearning for the past. He's undeniably selfish (that bit hasn't changed, and likely never will) but he's been tainted by regret and despair, and that, too, is something he can never quite come back from. When alone, Midas has a tendency to slip into his memories, brooding over his awful mistakes and what he might have done differently if he were allowed a second chance. Depression rocks him hard in those moments, and sometimes he questions why he's running at all, considering it's not much of a life he's leading.

Preferred Method of Fighting: Midas doesn't fight, period. He'd much rather make use of his impressive assets in order to persuade someone to do the fighting for him. If he is forced into confrontation, he's quite sly and will try to slip in and morph his opponent into solid gold before they can cause any harm to him. If that fails, most likely he would taste defeat rather quickly, as he little to no practical combat skills.

Devil Fruit: Kinzo-Kinzo no Mi: Model: Gold (Metal-Metal Fruit). [Its name is derived from kinzoku, the Japanese word for metal, because I wasn't sure of a good two-syllable word] Midas' Fruit grants him the ability to turn whatever he lays his hands on to gold, the effects of which can be reversed only if doused in seawater. He can't turn himself into gold, but he is capable of accidentally transforming his clothes (something that happens all too often for his tastes).

Short History: Hailing from a prominent royal family on the Grand Line, Midas grew up in the lap of luxury, wanting for nothing, fearing no one. The little prince's greatest trouble was the monthly galas he was forced to attend, which he knew were really a cliche cover for finding his future wife. On one such occasion, Midas had spent the majority of the day at the docks, chatting with soldiers who'd just returned from an expedition meant to benefit the kingdom. They'd "acquired" a great deal of gold from a neighboring island and were set to take it to the royal treasury when Midas noticed something a bit different from the gold - a strange fruit, dappled with even stranger designs, with a knotted stem and a golden sheen. Being the selfish fool he was, he stole the fruit for himself and later consumed it, thinking it might be some rare delicacy from a foreign land (something he immediately regretted, as it tasted distinctly foul on his tongue).

Later that evening, he was dressed for the gala and was currently enthralled in a conversation with the latest competitor for his hand in marriage. They got on well, and Midas was even starting to believe he may not mind an arranged marriage if it was with someone like this, when he reached out and touched her arm - and the girl instantly turned to gold.

It was only later that Midas realized he'd gained the powers of a Devil Fruit, and that he'd likely ruined the remainder of his life; the father of the girl he'd petrified was a high-ranking official in the World Government, and he ordered that he have Midas' head in recompense for the atrocity done to his daughter. Valuing his life, Midas fled the kingdom before he was captured, and even since he's sailed along the Grand Line, trying to keep from drawing the eyes of the Government again.

Dream: To somehow rid himself of his accursed Devil Fruit without giving up his life in the process

Miscellaneous

Likes: Girls, alcohol, extravagant meals (or perhaps just what they used to signify for him)

Dislikes: The ocean, gold, solitude and silence, his own face (as it reminds him painfully of the life he had to leave behind)

Other: Midas has an unshakable habit of singing to himself, something he even does with others around, though he isn't always conscious of it. His favorite songs are the ones his caretaker (a woman who stood in for his mother when - all too often - she and his father were away on official business) used to sing to him as lullabies.
