Ultimate Fallout pt. 1

"So let me get this straight, Peter...J. Jonah Jameson knows your big secret and not only is he not going to tell anybody, but he gave you a job and the freedom to come and go as you please?" Rachael asks from the other side of the booth, stirring her tea.

"That's exactly it, Rachael." Peter says taking a bit of his sandwich. They were sitting in a small cafe near the school they stopped at almost everyday.

"Do you trust him?" Rachael asks still surprised, J.J.J had been up his ass since they first met.

"Here's the thing, I kinda have to." Peter says with his mouth full.

"Well, that is true." Rachael nods.

"And I kinda have to believe that if he was going to out me, he would have done it already. I can't fathom a reason why, if he wanted to, he wouldn't have done it with a 'stop the presses!'. Whatsh?" Peter questions taking another full bite of his sandwich.

Rachael blew lightly on her tea, making it just cold enough to still feel uncomfortably warm to her. "I'm just very happy. I never thought we'd get back together."

"And I honestly can't think of the reason why we broke up, in the first place." Peter smiles.

"It probably had something to do with our stressful double lives." Rachael says taking a sip from her cup.

"You know, I thought of that, but I have a theory-" Peter says getting interrupted by his phone ringing.

"Who is it?" Rachael asks.

"I don't know, but I'm not picking it up." Peter says checking the unknown number.

"It's probably a telemarketer. You know if you pick it up and tell them to stop calling they have to legally stop calling you." Rachael says, Peter rolls his eyes. "Just pick it up and tell them what's what."

"Not giving them the satisfaction." Peter says stubbornly.

"Look at you always fighting for truth and justice..." Rachael went to pick it up, he hit her hand away. "Pick it up!"

"No." Peter says trying to grab it before she can.

"Maybe it's important. Give it." Rachael giggles.

"No." Peter says rolling his eyes.

"I have a way with people-" Rachael says as he grabs it.

"I'll answer it." Peter chuckles at her disappointment.

"Tell them you're Johnny Storm." Rachael giggles.

"I got it." Peter says answering it. "You're on the air."

"Look out the window." Came the familiar voice from the other side of the line. "Put on your uniform, soldier. It's time for booty camp. Meet me at 1st Calvary Forest Hills Cemetery in fifteen minutes."

"Oh my God." Peter gasps, watching Steve turn from looking at them through the window and starting to walk away.

"What was that about?" Rachael asks confused.

"I may have forgotten to tell you but I have training-" Peter says.

"I know."

"You know?"

"Dad told me what happened." Rachael says.

"I gotta go."

"Yes, you do."

"I feel bad."

"That's your default feeling, I'm okay." Rachael nods.

"I love you." Peter sighs, getting up from his seat.

"I love you too." Rachael smiles.

Peter landed next to Steve, in the graveyard. They were both fully suited up.

"This is exactly why I don't date goth girls." Peter says looking around the cemetery, having been there so many times before. He knew that place like the back of his hand.

"Stop talking and look." Steve says annoyed. "Life And Death. I don't think you've considered it in a real way. And if you have I see no evidence of it. You need to know soldiers, like you, have faced life and death for this country since before there was a country. And I know you may not see yourself as a soldier, but you are. You wear a uniform and you fight. But, and this drives me insane, you don't fight like you're life depends on it. You act like a teenager who doesn't think his day will ever come. And that, I'm sorry makes you a fool. Now this next part, you're not going to be too happy to hear..."

"What? You're going to say something more insulting?!" Peter exclaims throwing his arms in the air.

"Carol Danvers came to us and asked us what we thought she should do about you. Tony and Thor gave you the thumbs up. I did not. I said you should be benched. I was outvoted. That's why we are here. To teach you. To train you. Because there are two ways to run into a burning building. Two ways to fight a maniac who won't lie down. Two ways. One is smart and courageous, and one is immature and foolish. Because we are all going to end up here eventually. And it's your responsibility to make sure- and listen, this is the most important thing I can tell you...No matter what you..."

Something started to come through on Steves coms.

"Huh? No matter what what?" Peter asks.

"Hold on." Steve says motioning with his hand for Peter to be quiet.

"This is Rogers." Steve says pressed down on the com in his ear.

"There's a priority situation."

"What is it?" Steve asks, glad Peter couldn't hear the other person talking.

"It's a...motherfucker! We had a security breach at the Triskelion. But that's not for you. Fury's Black Ops team has gone rogue in the city."

"You're kidding." Steve sighs.

"They are in the city. I'm sending you coordinates. The alpha team will rendezvous there."

"On my way." Steve answers starting to walk over to where he parked his motorcycle.

"Are you with the kid?"

"Yes." Steve replies.

"Order is to ditch him."

"Yes, ma'am." Steve nods, before starting to get on his bike and turning to Peter. "We'll have to do this another time."

"Why? What's going on?" Peter asks confused.

"Level one emergency." Steve answers vaguely.

"Can I come?" Peter asks hopefully.

"Not this time. You're not ready." Steve answers.

"Not ready? After all I've done?" Peter scoffs.

"There will always be other chances." Steve sighs starting up his bike and riding off.

Peter huffs frustratedly. "Well you can't stop me from following you, can you?" He started to swing after him.

Peter landed after a few minutes to answer his phone watching Steve drive off towards one of the bridges. "Can't talk, Ned, I'm in the middle of the whole-"

"Have you seen the news?" Ned asks quickly.

"I think I'm seeing it now..." Peter answers watching a large explosion happen down town.

"Norman Osborn escaped! They all did." Ned says worried.

"Norman Osborn is dead." Peter says his voice cracking just thinking about how many lives that horrible man had destroyed.

"No, I'm telling you- him, Electro, Octopus, the sand guy. They all escaped. They're going to come after you, Peter! They're going to kill you! Where ever you are you have to save your family." Ned says frightened for him.
