The Grand Finally
(This is the last one I swear)
Ultimate Fallout pt. 9
Johnny and Rachael headed up to the main floor of the compound about two hours after everyone else had returned.
Steve was the only one who never returned. He was gone. America's favorite son quite his job because the guilt got to him. Not that anyone's surprised.
They both walked back to Rachael's room, stopping at Baby Maria's first to check on her first, then continuing on.
Nick Fury stood by the bay window of her bedroom looking out into the grounds. "Fury. What are you doing here?" Rachael asks confused, Johnny took a protective stance beside her as they walked in. She waved him off to go outside, Johnny obliged but just stood outside the door.
"I thought you and I should talk face-to-face." Nick says clasping his hands behind his back.
"What are you going to do? Arrest me?" Rachael scoffs, still upset with him.
"I'm here to talk to you." Nick repeats.
"So you just walked into my room?" Rachael asks.
"Sit." Fury says. Rachael didn't obey. "Sit your ass down, Stark 3."
She listened this time sitting on the edge of her bed.
"What are you going to do with me?" Rachael sighs looking at her shoes.
"I loved him." Nick says turning away from her.
"What?" Rachael says her head shooting up to look at him.
"I met him when he was just a baby, even younger than you were when we met. His parents worked on a project for us." Fury sighs.
"His parents?" Rachael says shocked standing up, they spent an entire month trying to find any information on them that they could, but there was nothing.
"Yes." Nick sighs.
"I didn't know that, we didn't know that." Rachael says.
"When his parents died I wondered if there was any way I would be able to do right by them. And then I was so excited when he had that accident that gave him his powers. Now I could do something. I was grooming him, you know. I was so sure he would grow up to be the man his father always wanted him to be and so much more. This brave, one-of-a-kind genius little boy." Fury sighs taking a deep breath trying to hold back tears. "I should've taught him more. I should have slowed the world down so a boy like that could become the man he was supposed to become."
"You knew his parents but never told him about it?" Rachael says softly.
"I understand that you're looking for someone to blame for this...My point is- You blame me...and I'm here to tell you...You're absolutely right." Fury says turning back to her a few tears falling from his eye.

About a year passes and everyone has finally begun to get used to the new way to do things. Johnny and Rachael have become practically inseparable. He had taken over most of Peter's duties and any leftovers were split between Tony and MJ.
Rachael had fallen asleep a few hours ago while rewatching season three of Warehouse 13 for the fiftieth time and waiting for Johnny to get back. They basically shared her room at this point, they had originally tried to give him his own room next door but her anxiety and nightmares are easier to stop the closer you are.
A soft knock came from the window that she used to keep open and unlocked 24/7. After Peter died she kept it locked shut except for when big brother Johnny was to lazy to walk through the compound.
Rachael woke up hearing the noise after it was repeated multiple times. She got up throwing one of Peter's old Mathletes sweaters over her closes walking over to the window.
"I swear to God, Johnathan just use the elevator..." Rachael mumbled but failed to notice through her fatigue that Johnny had returned an hour or so before hand and was sleeping on his makeshift bed on the other side of the room.
She unlatched the window and opened it looking up at the person climbed through the window. Rachael gasped audible taking a step back. The figure who showed up was not who she was expecting. They were the last person she ever would have expected but there they were.
"Peter?" Rachael gasped placing her hand over her mouth shocked.
