Slushees and Crochet?
(This used to be Break-Up Recovery, but I just went back to rewrite it and it turned out completely different so...have this new story in it's place)
"I heard you and Petey-Boy broke up."
Rachael shut her locker door to find the infamous Harry Osborn leaning against the lockers beside her's. He looked good. She had to admit that, with his swoop of curly hair that fell strategically over his left eye and long jet black trench coat that always smelt of warm expensive cologne. It really made her wonder why they broke up in the first place. "Yeah...what's it to you?"
"I just wanted a confirmation, since you can never trust the fallacious rumors that get dispersed around this hell hole." Harry says, crossing his arms .
"Well the rumors are true." Rachael sighs, hugging the binder to her chest, she'd just removed from her locker.
"I'd say that's sad to hear, but I'd be lying." Harry scoffs, looking around the hallway briefly.
"Harry...no offense, but why are you talking to me? After everything I did to you... I didn't think you'd want anything to do with me anymore..." Rachael asks, her gaze moving to the floor.
"I thought that at first too. You know all the irrational thoughts and murder plans flooded through my mind, but once I got past those. I realized it was all a part of the game we're playing and that this was just you changing the rules. But it seems like you're ready to start the game over, and play be the right rules this time." Harry says, as he moving closer to her.
"What?" Rachael asks, contorting her face in confusion.
"Nothing, never mind. Just know that... I don't blame you for anything that happened." Harry sighs, sticking his hands in his jacket pockets. "Okay?"
"Okay..." Rachael nods, fiddling with the hem of her gloves.
"So uh...do you maybe I don't know wanna do something tonight? To take your mind off of everything?" Harry asks.
"I don't know..." Rachael mumbles looking up at him through her chocolate brown bangs.
"How about after school we stop at 7-Eleven, grab a slurpee and some snacks, then head back to your place to play a hardcore game of crochet. I'll let you be blue." Harry suggests, brushing a piece of hair behind her ear and then stroking his hand gently against her cheek gently. "How does that sound?"
"Sounds like the ideal date..." Rachael answers, looking up at him.
"I don't remember saying it was a date." Harry teases.
Her face dropped and panic set in throughout her. "I-what? I-I didn't no...I didn't say it was a date either...It's-it's not a date. It's a-It's a...?"
"A young bachelor being supportive for his recent infatuation's during her time of need?" Harry suggests, innocently, in an attempt to aid her struggling.
"Yeah, I guess that's better..." Rachael sigh's embarrassed, making Harry chuckled a bit. "Hmm?"
"Oh sorry nothing. It's just that color spreads through your cheeks when you're flustered." Harry smiles, brushing his thumb across her flushed skin. "It really contrasts against the colorless canvass your small frame is wrapped with."
"That was a really fancy way to say I'm pale..." Rachael mumbles, her breath hitching when he touched her. She really had missed this, missed them.
"I wasn't saying you're ivory. I was saying you're beautiful." Harry smirks, gripping her chin lightly, before releasing her.
"Oh well...thanks..." Rachael smiles a bit, her bangs falling back into her face characteristically. They spent a good moment just staring at each other in a love struck manor. It wasn't an awkward or uncomfortable exchange it was quite the opposite actually. It was intimate and understand, almost as if they were having a conversation with nothing other than their eyes.
A few seconds later the bell rang signifying that the next class had began. Their little moment was interrupted and reality set back in. They'd been taking the whole four minutes in between classes and neither of them had even realized it. "Shit...well I should get to class..."
"Yeah, Okay." Harry nods with a chuckle, his chest shaking from the vibration of his joyous laugh. "Sorry."
"Sorry about what? You didn't do anything." Rachael asks almost forgetting the bell had rang.
"For making you late." Harry laughs at her and how lost in her own little world she was.
"No, no it's fine honestly. I'd probably be late anyway since my class of on the other side of the building." Rachael says quickly, starting to back away.
"Alright. See you later, Rachael." Harry smiles, giving a small little wave.
"Bye!" Rachael responds waving back, before they both turned in opposite direction, heading to their fifth period class.
