Just Think About...

(Honestly this took a really dark turn quickly and I'm not sorry, I'm crying but I'm not sorry)

Imagine what happened to Gwen happening to Rachael. She was just hanging out in her civies with Mary Jane and Betty Brant having a girls day, and she becomes a target for one of the few villains that know Spidey's secret identity. The girls are just sitting outside a café gossiping when the villain just grabs her from behind and drags her off towards one of the bridges nearby, because that's where every Spider-Man villain goes for some reason.

The villain just stands on top of one of the bridge pillars waiting for Peter to show up, to try and take back the love of his life, who has been drugged so she can't fight back, not that she would have to the fullest extent for her abilities to keep her identity a secret, but she still would have been able to escape. Peter races his way to save her after a frantic call from MJ about what had happened, he makes his way to the bridge landing on the pillar to see the villain waiting for him holding Rachael over the edge threatening to drop her.

Pete is full on panicking at this point, he can't let this happen again, not again, he'll be able to save her and redeem himself, he's played over this scenario over in his head millions of times he can do this, right? And he does, he manages to swing around and grab her starting to swing off just to get her away, but he gets hit from behind and flies forward, his grip on Rachael releasing from the shock of the hit as they barrel forwards into the air falling at intense speeds that only an enhanced individual would be able to survive, and Peter was barely hanging on himself let alone how Rachael was doing. He manages to catch himself with one of his webs after a minute. Rachael was still falling and Peter shot out a web to catch her but it wasn't fast enough she crashed head first down into the concrete sidewalk, his web missing by a centimeter. Either way would have had the same outcome.

He dropped down to the ground below running over to her a crowd already gathering. How could he have let this happen again, he-he doesn't understand. The Parker Luck really can't be this cruel? Can it? He doesn't know and it doesn't matter anymore. Peter pulls her motionless body into his arms holding her tightly and shaking her trying to wake her up but she doesn't respond, screaming her name at this point desperately, his mask is soaked with tears and it's starting to become noticeable. He holds her to his chest running his hands through her blood soaked hair.

The police have arrived at this point, clearing out the crowd that had surrounded him. Them.

"Why haven't we arrested him! Look what he did, that menace killed that innocent girl!" The deputy yells at the sergeant.

"That's not a murder son, that's a man in pain..." The sergeant says remorsefully, removing his hat. "Son, an ambulance is on its way-"

Peter laughs though there is no joy in his voice, just pain, plain unadulterated pain. "Ambulance? She doesn't need an ambulance, she needs a miracle..." He's panicking on the inside what is he going to do, how will be ever be able to live with himself knowing he let this happen. Know that he put her in danger, that ultimately ended in her demise, how?

"Son, You should leave unless you want to be blamed for this..." The sergeant says respectfully.

Peter started panicking more, police! All those people touching her, grabbing at her trying to figure out what happened, all those strange men and women. He couldn't do that to her, he won't do that to her. "Don't worry, Cinderella, kid, sweetie, beautiful-" He spouted off all his nicknames for her out of his panic. "I won't let them hurt you..."

He lifts her carefully as not to discomfort her, even though she won't feel it. The sergeant calls off his men to let Spidey do what he needs too. Peter shoots a web and swings her under the bridge she had just been dangled over less than thirty minutes earlier, setting her on the ground gently. He kneels down beside her, holding her to his chest letting the floodgates go and starting to cry harder than he ever had before. What does he do? Who does he call?

He shakily pulled out his phone removing his mask and dialing. "T-Tony...I-i don't know what to do...i-i need help...please I...it's about-please! I need- I don't know what I need! Ive messes up hard! This is all my fault..." Peter cried into the phone. The IronMan suit could be heard starting on the other end of the line.

After this Peter stops getting close to anyone he rejects sympathy and care from others. He stops going out at all, vigilanteing comes to a holt and he just stops believing that anything good can ever happen to him, and eventually it pushes him over the edge, much like it did about two weeks after Gwendy, But back he had someone there for him that never took no for an answer, this time though...

May comes home after work one day to find him on the bathroom floor unresponsive, she holds him and calls 911 frantically. She and Ben had never wanted kids before Peter, but once he was left on their doorstep it didn't matter anymore, he was their little boy. The waited for years for his parents to comeback who never did, and whether if they had died or just ran away from their problems it didn't matter, Peter was May's son now no matter what anyone said.

The police arrive after a while ruling it a suicide attempt and rushing him and May to the hospital. May calls the friends Peter has left and they rush their asses over all five of them consisting of Harry, Mary Jane, Flash, Michelle and Ned. A few of them comfort May while they pace and stew outside in the waiting room, eager for news.

After about an hour or two, the Doctor comes out and tells them, that they managed to get him into a stable condition and that he's away now if they'd like to visit.

"Like to visit of course I'd like to visit!" May thought frustratedly.

Peter was being monitored and on the seventy-two hour watch to make sure he wasn't planning on injuring himself again. He sat up in his bed roughly, wincing with every movement. May ran to him hugging him tightly not even paying attention to his whines and winces from her actions.

"Oh, you are so lucky that you have enhanced healing, bugboy, or I was going to have to resurrect you just to kill you myself!" May says sternly but was really just trying to hide her worrying.

"I know, mom. I'm sorry..." Peter sighs. "I just...missed them a lot..."

"You could have came to me talked to me...you know, I'll listen to anything you have to say, Peter!" May laughs without and humor in her voice, throwing her arms in the air emotionally.

"I know...but I needed to see them...and I saw them May, I saw them." Peter starts to cry.

"Sweetie, what are you talking about?" May asks sadly.

"They're the reason I came back...Mom, I'm so sorry..." Peter cries, May envelops him in another hug letting him cry into her shoulder.

"It's okay...it's okay..." May sighs kissing the top of his head. "It'll get better...I promise..."
