Backstory:
Maria was an insecure and closeted seventeen year old lesbian. While she was going through a rough patch with her secret girlfriend and unsafely slept with a boy as an experiment only to discover she didn't enjoy it. Upon finding out that she was pregnant she told her girlfriend which caused more tension between them than was already there. When she told the boy he wanted nothing to do with her and didn't plan on speaking with her after the funeral (which will be explained and expanded on later). She had to tell her parents and they made her keep the baby and raise it on her own with the help of her family of course.
