High School Days pt 1

"Come on Kai! This will be fun! We'll be able to see other schools! Isn't that awesome?" A beautiful girl with angelic white wings spoke happily as she looks at her brother. The two of them where wearing UA uniforms as they walk with the rest of their school. The whole school was going on this "field trip". It was something that all schools in the district had to participate in yearly. Basically just some important hero goes up on this stage and gives an assembly celebrating the end of the school year, then afterwards there is a big festival for the students to enjoy.

Kai and his sister had a rather rough start of the school year... their parents died on his first day of highschool. Kai remembered it like it was yesterday. He had been so excited and happy to make new friends and to talk to his parents about how much fun he had... only to come home to police men explaining that his parents had been killed.

"I just want to get this over with..." Kai mutters coldly, looking away from his sister. Though Akira continued to smile.

"Maybe you'll see that boy that you saved from those bullies! You know, the small one with the deer antlers and the fluffy deer ears. He had green eyes with brownish red hair I think?" Akira says hopefully. "Liam right?"

Kai thought about it. "Yeah... maybe.."

At the stadium

~*~*~*~

"Wow it's UA!"

"Look at their uniforms! So coooool!"

"Oh look at that cute guy-.... OH MY GOD HE LOOKED AT ME—"

"I heard that UA is one of the top schools..."

Students from other schools started to mumble amongst themselves as UA entered the stadium, each of them wearing their UA uniforms. They all looked like they where all professionals and full of wealth.

"That's Kai and Akira right..? Didn't their parents die?"

"Wow really? That's rough..."

A boy with fair skin and black hair accompanied by black rabbit ears, a black rabbit tail, and red eyes looked at the crowd of students. He didn't go to a hero school but he was at a school within the district. "Now now, it isn't nice to go talking about other people's lives so openly like that." The rabbit boy spoke, an ever so slight Australian accent revealing itself when he spoke. "I bet him and his sister have been through quite a lot, I'm sure they will want to avoid the topic of their parents if they can..." He explains calmly, a sympathetic look shining in his eyes.

All the attention was on UA at the moment, but somewhere off in the other side of the room was a small boy, standing upon the tips of his toes to try and see. "Excuse me... please.. I.. I n-need to get through.." He mumbles, trying not to bump into anyone.

"Oi! Let my friend through!" A girl growled. She had rust-red colored hair with tan skin. Wolf ears where upon her head along with a scorpion tail attached to her lower back. The tail swayed threateningly.

"Hey! Watch it! Your tail almost hit me!" Someone shouted.

"Eh?! What was that?! You think I don't know that? You must be fucking blind of you think that I can't control my tail! You got any other words up your ass that you wanna say to me?" The girl yelled back but the people around her fell silent. "That's what I thought. Now let my friend through." She growled before bringing the boy to the front of the group with her so they could get a better look at the UA students. "You okay Liam?"

"That really wasn't necessary, Christine..." The boy mumbles, getting second hand embarrassed from his friend. The group next to them was full of girls who went to a private school that is strictly girls only. They all started to giggle at Liam's embarrassment, though one stood out amongst the rest. Literally. She was taller than most, her hair died glorious shades of purple and magenta, dyed black at the tips. Her skin was lacking pigmentation but still had a tone to it, almost like it was faded and she hadn't laughed either. But what was most surprising about her appearance was her eyes. They where completely black, like an alien or a bug.

"Could you two quiet down? No need to yell. You're hurting my ears." The bugged eyed girl spoke. She looked like a spider honestly.

"Ah, s-sorry..." Liam mumbles quietly as he fiddles with his fingers. She looked so tall... so intimidating...

"Who the fuck do you think you are? You—"  Christine growled before getting cut off by Liam who was gently tugging on the sleeve of her shirt to get her attention.

"Christine, please... let's just let it be..." Liam says quietly, hoping his friend would just drop it and let it be.

Christine huffed, annoyed but complied. "Fine..." Though she was glaring daggers in the spider-eyed girl's direction.

~Back to Kai and Akira~

(I'm going to make up a teacher so just stick with me here okay?)
"Now, I expect you pups to be on your best behavior. Don't go sniffing things you shouldn't. I know you guys are curious, so am I. We have never been here before. But remember that you are representing your school." Mrs Howling spoke. She was the Sensei who taught the hero course class that Kai was in. She is related to Hound Dog, the school's security.

"Yes Sensei!" The class said in unison.

The room soon feel silent as a hero walked on stage and started to talk, making a speech about how wonderful this school year had been for all the schools. In fact some students got called up on stage... including Kai and Akira.
The hero took turns talking about each student that they brought upon the stage. Kai toned most of them out until they started talking about him and his sister.

"And these lovely siblings are Kai and Akira who are at the top of all their classes, achieving excellent scores in each of their classes. They will definitely become great heroes! But... they've already had to go through hardships that most professional heroes go through... the loss of loved ones... So let's give these two a moment of silence in hour of their parents who died the death of heroes, protecting their people...!" The hero explained.
The room, as was told, stayed silent in honor of the fallen heroes.
Akira was absorbing the attention like a sponge, while Kai wished he could just disappear... He already missed his parents, why did they have to make a whole speech about it? They are only making things worse...
Soon the mic was passed to Akira and Kai, giving them a chance to say something in return.

"Thank you all for the love and support. It's really helpful in the hard times that me and my brother are going through. I'd also like to thank the staff of UA for all the support that they have given us. But most of all, they helped my brother stay strong through this..." Akira spoke with a smile.

Kai's eyes widen slightly, the mic being handed to him. He simply stared at it. There was no fucking way he'd be able to even make a speech half as good as his sister's. He wasn't even that thankful honestly. He wished people would mind their own business and just let him be moody and allow him to wallow in his sorrows. But it seems what ever god there was had other plans for him. The blinding lights of the stage shown down on him, blinding him as the audience of judgmental teenage monsters waited for him to say something. Oh how desperately he wanted to just say nothing and to hand the mic back over to his sister and then walk off stage and vanish within the crowd of people, maybe say hi to a few walls and shadows too- maybe find an interesting spider on a corner or prey upon someone's fears. Anything but this.
Oh fuck- he's been silent for too long-

"I-.... uhm..." Kai started off rather awkwardly, nervously rubbing the back of his neck. He took in a deep breath before letting his thoughts flow out of his mouth, deciding to be honest. Thankful... but honest. "Thank you... for that Akira, I honestly didn't expect that nor did I expect to be put on the spot by such an amazing speech. Adding onto what my sister has said, the teachers at my school have been a great help and... I .. honestly don't know where I'd be without them.." Kai lied smoothly, no one expecting a thing as he forces a smile onto his face.
The crowd erupted in cheers and applause, causing Kai to jump slightly before handing the mic back to one of the heroes. He then walked off stage as fast as he could with Akira quickly following him.
After wards, the hero made a quick comment about how they will now start the festival and that this is a time for the students to enjoy themselves.

Kai toned the hero out as he thought about how he definitely made a fool of himself in front off all these schools. But he physically got knocked out of his thoughts when he felt someone bump into him from behind. He turned around, being able to see the tips of cat ears at the bottom of his peripheral vision. He looked down to see what the ears belonged to. Upon tilting his head downwards, he saw a girl with light brown hair that could easily be mistaken as blonde. She has white cat ears and a white cat tail. Her eyes where mainly a crystal blue color along with shades of light teal, yellow, purple, and pink. Her eyes practically looked like a galaxy. Her pupils where a dark purple.

"Oh I'm sorry!" She squealed out, taking a few steps back to try and give Kai some space only to accidentally bump into more people. "Ah- sorry!" She apologizes. Kai immediately recognized her. She was a new exchange student that arrived at his school. Though no one knows where she came from. The school forbid the students to talk about the information. So she was a big mystery. Thankfully he remembered her name. Mitsu, it was a rather bland name but he's heard of worse names. ... Imagine being named YL- haha- anyway-

"It's okay, no worries." Kai says to her as he places his hands in the pocket of his hoodie, trying to get comfortable despite the crowds of people surrounding them. People shoving eachother out of the way to get to a certain part of the festival or to find a friend. In fact Mitsu was so small that people didn't see her until they bumped into her, she almost got knocked over a few times. Poor thing.

Kai watched for a longer amount of time than he should have before gently taking her hand and leading her away from the crowds.

"O-Oh t-thank you.. ... uh... sir....?" Mitsu trails off, realizing she didn't know his name yet.

"Oh uhm... It's Kai. No need for formalities so don't expect me to state my last name." Kai says softly, stopping once the two made it to a less crowded area.

"H-Hey wait! I-It's you! You're the one who saved me..!" Liam ran over to Kai, practically out of breath before bowing respectfully. "T-Thank you f-for that day.."

"It's fine, really." Kai responds sheepishly. "It was nothing much."

"But- Y-You saved me. If y-you hadn't arrived then those bullies would have strangled me to death and—..." Liam trails off as he finally notices Mitsu. He stayed quiet, processing the beauty in front of him before his face quickly becomes a bright shade of red as he stops bowing, immediately standing up straight. "H-Hi." He says nervously.

"He sure got over that fast..." Kai thought to himself as he simply watched this happen.

"Hi! My name is Mitsu? What's yours?" Mitsu introduced herself happily, having no sense of stranger danger at all.

Liam smiles nervously. "I-It's L-Liam.." He stuttered out, his fluffy deer tail starting to wag nervously. He then notices that Mitsu is practically hanging onto Kai as though she is attached to him. And honestly Kai didn't give a shit— "Oh... w-was I interrupting s-something? I- I saw you two walking off b-but I ... if you t-two where looking for some privacy then.."

"What do you mean? Privacy?" Mitsu asked innocently, not fully understanding the undertone hints of Liam thinking that Kai and Mitsu are together.

Kai who had just been silent finally spoke, "No, we aren't together. I was just helping Mitsu out of the crowd since everyone here is blind and kept bumping into her. I'm surprised she wasn't flattened."

"I- I see. Sorry for the misunderstanding." Liam apologized, looking down at his feet. Mitsu seemed saddened at seeing him sad.

"Don't be sad! It's okay! I don't know why you're sad... But I uh- I can give you a hug! Will that help?" Mitsu asks as she sends Liam a worried look. The deer boy immediately jolts in surprise and embarrassment.

"N-No it's fine-! I promise!" Liam denies her offer of hugs.

"Is this what it feels like to be a third wheel?" Kai thought as he continues to stare at the two, letting them have their weird moment. He then slowly started to walk away, hoping they won't notice. But his hopes burn in a fire as Mitsu and Liam automatically start to follow Kai, as though he is their leader of some sort.

"Where are we going?" Mitsu asks curiously.

"Mm... not sure yet." Kai responds, not too interested in talking to them. Though he hears the sounds of Liam's stomach gurgling over the crowds of people. Liam then chuckles nervously.

"I haven't eaten anything all day...  maybe we can get some food?" He asked quietly, followed by a gasp from Mitsu. Kai could practically feel her immediately turn to look at him.

"Kai!!! We need to get this precious bean boi some fooood!" Mitsu explains while tapping Kai on the shoulder over and over-....... And over- again. The nightmare boy sighs, swiftly snatching a map of the festival out of someone's bag without them noticing. He opens up the map to see where the food is. Both Mitsu and Liam stand on either side of him. Liam's ears perk up upon seeing a restaurant name.

"Hey, can we go there?" Liam asks, pointing at a small food stand on the map. "I heard that this family of rabbit people owns a restaurant and will be the ones working this stand, in fact their youngest son goes to the school that rivals mine. I heard their food is to die for."

"Sure, why not?" Kai says, genuinely not caring about where they go to eat, he just wanted food. The three made their way to the food stand that Liam had pointed out, their mouths watering at the smell of delicious food that wafted from the stand.
Though the only down side was they there was a long line. "Oh... darn~ what a shame~.." Kai coos, causing Liam and Mitsu to become confused. "Well..... Let's go." Kai instructs before walking to the front of the line. He pulls a card out of his pocket as he makes it to the front, showing it to one of the people running the stand.

"Mira! We got another special student, I'm handing him to you!" The person shouted as they look back at all the people who where built making food.

The boy that was mention earlier on this story with the black rabbit ears, black hair, red eyes, and a black rabbit tail made his way over. He was changed out of his school attire and was wearing a formal black and red suit. "Come this way, I can give you and your friends to a bench. Sadly we are all out of tables." He said with a smile. A name tag was on the left side of his chest on his suit with the name Mirage on it.

"Your accent is so cuteeee!" Mitsu said with a bright smile. She couldn't help it, she loved giving compliments to people.

"Oh and your suit looks amazing!" Liam says.

Well fuck- Kai was practically forced to give a compliment now thanks to these two. "Oh-... uh- you uh-...... your eyes are.. pretty....?" Kai mumbles, not sounding to sure of himself.

"Well, seems like I got a group of flirts~  Either you guys are searching for a certain reaction or you guys are genuinely this nice..." Mirage says with a smile, but the smile faulters, "Though I'm doubtful... Here is your bench."

"Why would you be doubtful? You look amazing! Anyone who says otherwise is a meanie! The food smells amazing too! Did you make it?" Mitsu asked, flooding Mirage with more compliments and questions.

Mirage was a little startled by this. "Thanks love, you really are such a treasure. It's been a while since I've gotten compliments like these.. And yes. I made the recipes for all the food on the menu." He explains, a sweet smile slowly forming on his face.

~time skip~

After a while, the three got their food and finished it before paying for it. Mirage was such a sweetheart and Kai was glad to have met someone like him.

"So what should we do now?" Mitsu asks. It was getting late and there where stars in the sky.

"How about you and Liam go do something together, I... I need to go somewhere... I'll meet back up with you guys if I have the time before the night ends." Kai explains, walking off before the two could even say anything in return.
The nightmare boy swiftly made his way through the crowd, practically holding his breath as he kept walking until finding the exit. He quickly ran out the exit, ending up out side as he lets out a sigh. Gosh he hated every bit of that... the crowds... the loud noises, have no personal space, people following him everywhere he went, being asked about his parents. He takes a few minutes to calm down before pulling out his phone and calling his sister.

"Hey..." Kai spoke quietly.

"Hey! Where are you? I haven't seen you around ever since the festival started." Akira says happily, but curious on where her brother was. She then didn't hear anyone else come through the phone accept Kai's voice. "Don't tell me-..... you're ditching this festival aren't you?"

Kai stayed quiet. "..."

"Dang it Kai! ..." Akira said before sighing, a small but sad smile forming on her face. "I just wish that you'd live a little for once in your life you know..? I worry about you..."

"I-... I know.. I just... need some time away from people. Some time to myself. Once the festival is close to being finished, call me okay?" Kai says to his sister as he stares up at the stars in the sky.

"Okay. Just be careful." Akira responds. Kai then hung up, sliding his phone back into his pocket before walking down along the side walk. It was cold outside and he could see his breath. Though the city was about a 20-30 minute walk away. So... he embarked on his quest into the city. He would occasionally hear the sounds of nocturnal animals. As he made it into the city, he noticed it was less packed than it was during the day. While he walked he couldn't help but to overhear the conversation of a couple that was near by.

"Is intercourse all you want from me..?" A guy asked, obviously tired of what ever shit the girl had been telling him. And wow, Kai wished he hadn't heard that. But unfortunately Kai's ears couldn't tone out the conversation.

"You're a love demon or what ever right? What else would I summon you for?" The girl said carelessly.

"Ah... right... I've got no other uses." The demon guy mutters. "... I'm done." He then gets up from where he sat and walks off.

"I- what do you mean?! Oh yeah-? Well I-uh- I'm breaking our demon bond or what ever the heck it's called!" The girl shouts.

"Do what ever the fuck you want... I don't give a damn.." The demon mutters. He had dark skin with black hair. His eyes where a stunning emerald green. His body was built well with noticeable muscles that bulge out. He was ripped. Now it was Kai's turn to accidentally bump into someone as the demon walks in Kai's direct, not noticing him. This demon guy was tall. Kai bumped into the guy on accident. He swore that Neko's habits where rubbing off on him even after only knowing her for a few hours.

The demon guy looked down at Kai, a glare on his face that slowly fell. "Sorry about that... I didn't see you." His voice was tough yet gentle all at the same time. The stranger demon then simply walks past Kai.

Kai went quiet. "Did... she say demon...? There's no fucking way... Is it even possible for a demon to look like that?" Kai's mind wandered before he made up his mind to follow the guy. "Hey wait! The girl... she—"

"What about her?" The demon interrupted. "You know her and are going to defend her?"

"Oh- no. Actually, I happened to over hear... she... called you a demon." Kai says.

The demon sighs before finding a nice alleyway to sit down in. "Yeah? What about it?"

"Are you?" Kai asks.

"... a demon? Yeah. I am. No, this isn't some kind of quirk. I'm an actual demon." He explains, flexing his wings with a bored expression on his face.

Kai didn't know what to say... "Do uh... Do you live around here?"

The demon sighs. "Honestly I don't exactly live anywhere... I just find a place to stay for the night.."

"What's your name?" Kai asked, becoming more curious.

"It's... Its Ace." The demon responds, looking over as Kai sits down next to him.

"I'm Kai."

Ace looked a little surprised. "Isn't it common knowledge to not tell a demon your name? Incase they manipulate you...? Or posses you..?"

"I... I don't care about that... I.. i have a question that I need to ask you." Kai responds quietly.

"You mean questions that you haven't already asked me?" Ace asks sarcastically.

"I- yes- you are connected to the dead right? You can see other ghosts. Have you seen my parents? They died at the beginning of this school year! They look like me! They where well known heroes! Please! I need to contact them! I... I need to talk to them just one more time.. I- I wasn't ready to let go, I never got to say goodbye properly—"

"Wow- wow- wow- calm down- yeah I can see dead people but I don't know about every human being ever that has died. I'm a DEMON. And based on your description, heroes usually go to a place better than hell." Ace explains, covering Kai's mouth with his hand to stop him from saying so many things.

Kai lowers Ace's hand away from his mouth. "Oh... I-.. I see.." Kai says quietly, a sad tone to his voice. "I'm sorry for bothering you... I'll... I'll let you be. Unless..." Kai trails off in thought, remember that this demon got mad at that girl because she only saw him as nothing more that a sex toy. "... Want to be my friend?"
