------------------------------------------------------------------

The month was April, she was in her second year of college, just trying to get through it all. She had slept in after a night of studying for finals. She was practically running to her classes, muttering, "I'm late, I'm so late-". The hallways were practically stripped bare, with a few students here and there. She wasn't looking where she was headed, just knowing the directions by heart. She was answering her friend's texts about how she was late, asking where she was. She took a sharp turn and ran right into this guy. He freaked out for a little bit and helped her up, apologizing profusely, to which she apologized right back. He offered to treat her to some food to make up for it, but she had to get to class. So they agreed to meet out by the front gates after school.

Later that day they did indeed meet by the gates. He treated her to a nice meal, it wasn't shabby or too fancy. She had a good time, they had exchanged names, his was Samuel Liston. He had short chocolate brown hair, the darkest brown eyes, and a great sense of style and humor. They became friends quite easily. They were around the same age, he was 23 and she was 22. He asked for her number and she didn't question it, cause he was nice. Looking back on it, she was pretty naive. After that, they both said their goodbyes and parted ways.

They hung out many times for the rest of that year, becoming closer and closer of friends. They ended up getting in some of the same classes the following years. By their fourth and last year of college, they were inseparable besties. One day they had gone out for ice cream to celebrate completing their finals. Sitting in the sun, on these cheap but cute beach chairs, he looked into her eyes, asking a simple question. "Hey Yasmin, would you date me?" She was astonished and had to think about it for a few days, but in the end, said yes.

They graduated a couple and Yasmin had to find somewhere to live while looking for a job. Samuel had offered her a place to stay, at his apartment until she could find her own place. She accepted easily due to not having anywhere to go, with her parents living multiple hours away. She crashed at his place, night after night for multiple months before she got a job as a fashion designer. Samuel took her on a special date as congratulations on her new job. Everything was great for a long time. She got her own apartment, got promoted at her job, and was earning a very substantial wage. Then Samuel asked her to move into a house with him, being head over heels in love with him, she agreed.

Their house life together was different from living together for a few months in his old apartment. Samuel had changed since then, he was much more of a slob and a lot looser. She had to work late nights, so she wasn't home until 9-10 pm every night to come home to a semi-dirty house and no food on the table. Samuel waited for her to cook and watched tv, sometimes with some beer. But she loved him and kept cleaning up the house and cooking every night for weeks and years. If she wasn't complying with his standards of anything, he would hit her. She thought it wasn't right, but he convinced her, that it was out of love.

One day she was talking with her coworkers about Samuel and telling them all about how he was. Their eyes went wide when she mentioned the beatings, asking her to show them her arms and back. She had quite a lot of bruises from Samuel, but she didn't seem to mind, she told them that it was fine. She told them, "No, you have it all wrong, Sam is the sweetest guy, sometimes he is a little out of it, but he means well!" They shook their heads and told her she needed to leave him and soon. It took quite an amount of convincing to get her to agree to leave him. But that night she went home and did all the normal stuff, cooking and cleaning. Then she packed up her side of the closet, going to leave when Samuel went to bed. But that night Samuel had taken to his loving side, pulling her to the couch and kissing and cuddling her. He looked at her directly, "You wouldn't leave me, right?" She nodded. He got an almost crazed look in his eyes, "Good, 'cause if you did, I would have to hurt you and bring you back here and we wouldn't want that, now would we~." That was the first time it really dawned on her how dangerous Samuel was. She was slightly shaking but nodded as if to agree. She had to get out of there and quick.

That night when Samuel was passed out on the couch, she crept out of his arms, grabbed her suitcase, and got the heck out of there. She thought she was home free, on her way to her coworker's house. Next thing she knew Samuel was right behind her in his own car. He drove next to her, "Where are you going darling?" She had to get away, so she tried to turn on another road, but he cut her off, wrecking her car. She got out and ran into an alley, Samuel following her suit, holding a knife. He cornered her in the alley, slashing at any way to get her to her knees. He had gotten her lower abdomen, arms, and chest. She was bleeding badly, barely able to stand. He was about to drag her back to his car by her hair, when a guy yelled, "Hey, what are you doing? STOP!" Samuel tsked and ran away, leaving her to her own defenses. Yasmin started to feel dizzy, calling out for help before she passed out cold.

She woke up about a week later in the hospital, with a handsome man a the foot of her bed. When he saw she had woken up, he was elated. He was a tall guy with chestnut brown hair and sky blue eyes. He asked her what had happened and she relayed as much as she could to him, then told the cops the same story later that day. The cops did the best they could to find Samuel, but they couldn't find anything on him, their house had burned down and he had skipped town. She had nowhere to go and was injured and bruised. The man who saved her, a famous model, Xieyo Tyn, offered her a room and a cleaning job at his place. She took it gratefully, he helped her get back on her feet. They became good friends and still to this day, they hang out all the time.
