Warrior's Hatching

The first thing she could remember was pain

Pain, and her father's voice.

Telling her the only thing she knew to be true to this day

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

"Sparrow, stop squirming" He had said. His voice was gruff, and his breath smelled of foul blood. Her father was indeed a soldier

She winced in pain again.

"OW! Dad, that hurt-"

"Don't call me that." He had snapped quickly. Not angrily, not even sternly. It was, and order. Her first one.

Crimson looked his daughter in the eyes. His face was stone. And for the first time, within three short months of being alive, she was scared.

"I am to be addressed as 'Sir' or 'Colonel'." He continued, "Is that clear?"

"Yes, sir." Sparrow nodded.

This was the day she had truly known what pain was. Her soldiers, all  around her, were continuing their 'modifications'. Colonel said that this was necessary. She would be a fine warrior from this experience.

And Sparrow believed so. Even if that experience was having black obsidian studded between her scales, and her tail bent and twisted and molded into a triangular point. The others said that Scarlet, whoever that was, would surely accept a warrior as terrifyingly beautiful as her.

Beautiful

Terrifying

Pain

Success

From that point, these words all mean the same in her mind. There could not be one without the others.Success came from pain, and scary was striking.

She'd make her father proud

She'd make all of them proud.

She would be the most beautiful, terrifying, and amazing warrior ever.

And it all had started here. But how would it continue?

And how would it end?

Such questions escaped the mind of such a young dragoness.

At three months, Sparrow, all in all, only knew one thing.

To obey.
