"And why are we in here?" Mazenta asked Fajī as they wandered into a janitors closet.

"Because!" Fajī hissed back excitedly. "Kokoro told me that Uni told her that there are secret tunnels throughout the school! She said that one could be in this very closet! Now, shut the door! I don't want anyone to see us in here!"

Without a word, Mazenta closed the door, the darkness swallowing the mermaid and the neko.

"It's dark in here!" Mazenta whined.

"Quiet!" Fajī replied. "Just give me your phone so I can use its flashlight. I think left mine in my gym locker."

"Um... I think I left my phone in my bookbag..." Mazenta said slowly.

"Great. Just great. Go get your phone," Fajī meowed, annoyed. "And hurry. Study hall doesn't last forever."

Stumbling through the darkness, Mazenta felt around the cramped closet for the doorknob. Her fingers quickly felt the smooth, metallic surface. She turned the handle.

But the door wouldn't budge.

She tried opening the door with all her might, but it wouldn't open.

"Uh... Fajī?" the mermaid asked.

"What now?" the neko huffed.

"The door's stuck. I think we're trapped..."

The dark closet was quiet for a few moments before Fajī replied, "Heh... Just keep calm, Mazy..." She slowly made her way to the door. "We don't need to worry about--" She began to pound and pull on the shut door. "HELP! HELP! LET US OUT!"

This went on for a few moments before she eventually realized that everyone was in class and they couldn't be heard.

"What about that secret tunnel you were talking about?" Mazenta asked, trying to sound hopeful.

"Y-You're right!" Fajī chirped, suddenly feeling around for anything on the wall that could be a hidden crawlspace.

But there was none.

Fajī sighed sadly. "We're doomed." She slumped down onto the cold concrete floor.

Mazenta slid next to Fajī. "I didn't think it'd end like this..."

"Trapped in a closet... In the dark... No food or water..." the neko sighed sadly.

"I'm gonna miss you, Fajī!" Mazenta cried.

"I'm gonna miss you too, Mazy!" Fajī whimpered in reply, hugging her friend.

The two friends began crying and comforting each other in the janitors closet.

And that was when Kashi pulled the door open, seeing the neko and mermaid.

"What the heck are you doing in here?" he asked, extremely confused. "And why are you crying?"

Mazenta stood up. "Omigosh! Kashi! Thank gosh! You've saved us!"

"Huh?" Kashi looked even more confused now.

"We tried opening the door after we closed it. We were trying to look for secret tunnels!" Fajī stood up and explained. "We were trapped because it wouldn't even budge, even after pulling and pulling!"

Kashi snickered.

"What's so funny?" Mazenta asked.

"I pulled open the door from my side," Kashi said. "That means it would've been a push door from your side."

Fajī and Mazenta thought for a moment before sighing, feeling stupid.
