The Clock Was Wrong

Rachel Eliza Darlington had been, like they all had been, affected by the Clock. It had given her powers that she hadn't lost yet. She knew there could only be one reason for this:
The Clock wasn't dead.

Everyone knew it was still there, the spirit still inside it, still looking to possess the next unlucky soul. But it remained dormant at the moment. And for that, no one had an answer.

Rachel, certain that the Clock will strike again, quite literally in both ways, decided to work at the Academy.

That may seem strange to you, but she's there to protect the students. Yes, there are more students. Yes, the school re-opened, even after two of its students had died and the others had fled.

Rachel built a glass box around the clock to stop people touching it. It was something she felt the original teachers should have done in the first place.

So far, it seems to be working.

Another thing, Rachel makes sure that whenever she walks past the clock, she sticks her tongue out at it. Everyone thought this was very strange and funny to start with, but when Rachel continued to do this, since she's a teacher, the students began to copy her.

Most at the Ballet Academy, previously known as Hell, stick their tongues out at the Clock.

Rachel obviously feels very proud.

Rachel also keeps a wristwatch on, always. It's yellow leather with a silver ring around the small clock face that was decorated with a butterfly.

Rachel always did love her puns. In case you didn't get it, 'Time Flies'.

She wears it to show that the Clock is a part of her life, as it always will be. But she also wears it to show that clocks can be controlled by humans.

She uses her phone to check the time. Her watch and the clock in her classroom are always set to the wrong time but they still work at normal pace, so they're not even right once a day.

The students find it very strange but Rachel is, one of if not, their favourite teacher, so they just accept it. She keeps them like that because it is her silent way of telling the Clock it was wrong about all of them.

The Clock was wrong.

The students could look at the clocks in her classroom and know it too.

The Clock was wrong.

And to the noise of the clock's ticking, she'd tap a beat. Her way of saying, you're only helping me, you're only setting the base for my brilliance.

Her way of saying the Clock wasn't in charge.

Her way of saying the Clock hadn't beaten her yet.

Her way of saying the Clock had only made her better.

Her way of saying the Clock was wrong.

She will survive.

She will smile.

She will keep dancing.
