In the Dead of Night (Ave x Zoe)
There were many things Ave hadn't told her girlfriend yet. She was super scared of mannequins, for one; she had a morbid fear of June bugs.... and she also saw how people died. She wanted to hide her horrible hidden ability forever, try and make it disappear so Zoe would never have to worry about it. When she told her parents, they had sent her away to the monster high school even though she was human! She just had to find a good way to tell her...
"Ave?" The teacher called out in an annoyed tone, making the girl jump in her seat, "Glad to see you are back from la la land. If you please pay attention to the lesson?" Ave turned a deep red, nodding, "S-sorry..." maybe after class she could think of the right way to tell Zoe.
As the bell rung for the last time that day, Ave clutched her books tightly to her chest as she watched her beautiful girlfriend walk up, smiling as always, "Ready to walk home?" She asked, "It's a nice enough day for a little stroll."
This was her chance! A perfect time to tell her about what odd and morbid power she possessed!
"S-sure! I would love to take a walk with the most beautiful girl ever," Ave smiled meekly, Zoe giggling with a hint of blush on her cheeks as they held hands and began a cool afternoon walk home. Every time Zoe would make eye contact with Ave, her girlfriend would quickly look away. She could tell she wanted to say something but was nervous and maybe even... scared to say it? The word hurt her heart as she always wanted her love to feel safe to tell her anything.
"You know... Ave, I love you with all my heart and you can tell me anything. I'm an ancient god, I'll be able to handle it," she teased softly, seeing her girlfriend only get more nervous as her grip tightened while she took a deep breath.
"Zoe... I have to tell you something.... that's super important... and that is, that is that... we should, you know, ugh, really think about the future together," she finally got out, her brain feeling like an absolute jumbled mess, her skin tingly with anxiety and fear. Well, at least something came out.
Zoe's whole face brightened as she nodded, "I have, love. Have you been worrying about that?" She placed a gentle kiss on her short girlfriend's head, "No need to worry." She whispered, eliciting a nod from Ave, "Right, Of course."
That night, Ave laid awake with her heart beating hard against her chest as if it was ready to burst out and confess its secret to Zoe itself. She didn't want to make Zoe worry... that would only make her own worry and anxiety shoot up exponentially!! She sighed as she tried to get comfy and catch a few winks before the morning so she didn't seem too weary. But that night held something horrid in store for her, something that quickly put her life on a count down.

Zoe woke up early as usual to start working on breakfast as she knew Ave was not a morning person in the slightest. It was up to her to get them well fed in the mornings and on time to school while Ave took care of dinner and more night time chores. She had been humming a tune while preparing the eggs when a ear piercing scream sent shivers down her spine. It was Ave's voice... she sounded terrified! She raced to their room, her heart felt absolutely paralyzed in fear.
In the bed lay her girlfriend, writhing and screaming in agony with her eyes still closed. She was still asleep! Zoe quickly leapt onto the bed and shook her girlfriend awake, "Ave! Ave! Come on, wake up! I'm right here, it's going to be okay!" She tried to sound calm but she was panicked! This had never happened before! What kind of nightmare could make her react like this? Abe's eyes shot open and as soon as she recognized it was Zoe above her, she broke down into tears, "Zoe... oh my g... it can't be... it just... it can't..."
Zoe could feel her heart breaking ad she took in the devastating scene of her girlfriend, shaking and distraught with tears falling the way that got them fastest to her pillow. What could have scared her this badly? Ave was never one to be a cry baby just a scaredy cat at wax museums. All she could do was hug her sobbing love tight to her, stroking her hair and whisper softly to her. She didn't know how else to help when this was the first time she had ever seen her girlfriend look this scared! Zoe had to keep herself from shaking! She was terrified of what spooked Ave this bad, it couldn't have just been a simple nightmare.
And she was right. It wasn't some simple nightmare about killer clowns or being naked at school, Ave witnesses herself be tortured and murdered. She could feel everything they did as if it had already happened... a horrifying feeling of coldness had overcome her before she woke up. The worst part had been, it was her friends who were going to kill her at some point during the day and there was nothing she could do to stop it. She was no longer worried about telling Zoe about her power, there was only so much time left for her, she had to make it count.
"Zoe, I love you so so much. You are the world to me," Ave whispered, feeling her love shudder against her, "Don't say that... you are scaring me. That wasn't just some normal bad dream, the way you looked when you woke..." she shivered as Ave did her best to sound comforting, "I'm sorry, Zoe. I don't remember what it was... some really bad dream... must have been about the car crash or something. Remember? I had one a few months before we met, i can feel it sometimes in nightmares still. That must have been it."
It was a lame excuse at best for the nightmare but it seemed to do the trick as Zoe nodded against her, "Well... alright.. we better get some breakfast then and get ready for the day, help get your mind off that awful accident." She kissed Ave's forehead and went to go finish up the cooking, leaving the fated one to think for a moment about how Zoe's life would be when she was gone.

Zoe could feel her fear growing as the day progressed at school. Ave seemed to pale and get quiet when they arrived and acted strange around their friends, fidgeting with the straps of her backpack constantly. She had to figure out what was happening! As soon as the bell rung for passing period, Zoe sprinted to Ave's class, quickly blocking her girlfriend's only exit from the room, "Something is going on and don't say it's nothing. You are scared, and I want to know why. You can't leave until you do tell me," she frowned to ensure she seemed as resolved as possible to get down to the truth.
Ave squirmed, fidgeting with her straps, ringing her hands, doing anything to try and keep from... crying... she felt tears roll down her face as she looked at the ground, embarrassed she was crying in front of Zoe, "Zoe... I am so incredibly lucky to have met you a-and I wouldn't change anything that has happened in my life. I have had the best girlfriend in the whole wide world," she laughed softly, mainly out of all her nervous energy as Zoe began to cry as well. She had to tell her... it was only fair, she would soon be dead, "Zoe, I'm... im not going to be going home tonight. I have this um, this power where I can, you know, see people's deaths but in my dreams. And... and well, last night, it was mine. So... my time is going to come to an end today..." she covered her face with her hands as she cried, shaking. Zoe's arms wrapped around her tightly and Zoe wailed in anguish, hoping it was somehow a twisted prank.
She finally found someone who accepted all of her and she was going to lose her! "I-I'll protect you, Ave! You can't! You won't! I won't let anyone take you away!" She blurted our, making Ave's heart sting with sorrow, "Zoe... I can't escape my fate. I love you with all my heart, and I don't want it to be this way... but it is." And with that, she let go of her love and went to face her fate.
