The Intervention (Tadasoka)

For my sibby RavenFire2023 , who made all of the characters involved in this story. You should absolutely read their Fangan, Danganronpa: Exotic Paradise.

Currently, there was a war occurring between two lovers.

Oh! Nonono, they weren't fighting.

The true source of the conflict was that Hisoka Shouhei had recently taught Tadashi Danhai, his boyfriend, how to knit. And, in doing so, he accidentally created a competition to end all competitions.

It started off small— Hisoka found a colorful pair of knitted socks on his desk at work, Tadashi found a beanie tucked away in his nightstand, small things like that. But it very quickly spiraled out of control. Scarves. Pillow covers. Sweaters. Blankets. A knitted rabbit even got thrown into the mix.

And not only was the goal to make more presents than their partner, but it was also to wear as many of each other's presents as often as possible. To truly outlast each other.

"I won't lose to you, Dashi," Hisoka would express cheerfully as he pulled on a pair of wool gloves.

"We'll see, Oki," Tadashi would respond patiently, wrapping a scarf around himself.

Initially, their friends were bewildered at the fact that, practically every day, the boys would be decked out in several knitted items despite it being the warmer end of spring. But eventually Etsuko realized that it was absolutely in Hisoka's nature to do this out of a desire to defeat someone, and she immediately started trying to get her friends to bet on the victor.

Little did she know, every single one of them would wind up pulled into it. Once the boys had so many knitted items that their apartment could've practically been a store, they turned their ire into yet another challenge— who could make more gifts for their friends?

"Sei, I feel like I don't appreciate you often enough. Here, I knitted some butterflies for you."

"Ryu, darling, I made little covers for your potted plants!"

"Look, Damasu, I made wrist warmers. I figure it could be a nice addition, in case you ever get cold while doing your puppeteering."

On and on the war raged, and, after an extensive period of time, everyone was well and properly over it.

When it seemed like all hope was lost that either of them would ever lose enough steam to stop, Honoka came up with a plan. "If you cannot beat them, join them, as they say!"

So, one night, they put said plan into action. Everyone got together for a sleepover. After a long night of furious gaming, during which Hisoka and Etsuko attempted to annihilate each other (and Hiroshi got aggravated by how riled up they were), Hisoka was, of course, rather tired. He snuggled up against his partner, a soft smile parting his lips. "Night, darlings," he murmured quietly before promptly starting to doze off.

Tadashi, normally preparing to knit at this time of night, didn't want to bother his lover. So he put aside his goal long enough to cuddle and then gradually fall asleep with him.

"Are you ready, loves?" Emika asked.

"Ready as I'll ever be," smirked Nao, pulling several spools of yarn out of his bag.

"I'm SO ready, nya!" Shiori squealed with delight. "I have the pictures!"

When Tadashi and Hisoka woke up, this was the sight they were greeted with:

They were both wrapped up tight with yarn, tied together in some sort of giant sweater. Every wall was covered top to bottom with photographs of everything the two of them had knitted. There must have been hundreds of pictures. And their friends were smiling cheekily in the corner, decked out in knitted pieces.

"Oh, you assholes," Hisoka muttered under his breath. Tadashi couldn't help but laugh hysterically at the situation they found themselves in.

"This is an intervention, nya!!!" Shiori cheered, very grateful that the team had let her take that part of the script.

"This has gone too far, boys. As is clearly evident, you have both been knitting pretty much nonstop for a couple of months at this point," Aoki pointed out, keeping their face stoic.

"It's honestly pretty fuckin' obsessive," Etsuko snarked.

"Shut up, bitch!" he hissed in retaliation. But he wore an amused smile on his face despite himself.

"We care about you, and we're concerned. This has consumed your lives," Sei continued, trying desperately not to crack up.

"C'mon, Oki, maybe it's time to give it up," Tadashi declared, wheezing from laughter. "The people have our best interests at heart!"

"You're just saying that because you think you'll lose!" he teasingly retorted.

"Don't worry, guys, I'll shut him up." Tadashi turned ever so slightly in their warm confinement, and pressed his lips against Hisoka's. Everyone was highly amused by this course of action as they proceeded to pepper each other with passionate kisses, even tipping over at one point.

"So what are we gonna do about the excessive presents, Dashi?" Hisoka asked as he briefly paused the make out session for a breath.

"Charity, I guess," he responded, nuzzling his nose up against his partner's.

And that was how a ceasefire came to be. The war was ended, the treaty signed, the soldiers marching home.
