Descriptions of Background Characters

Warning: Massive, Massive spoilers for almost every set of FTEs. The only ones not currently included in that are Wakumi's, Nari's, Sayuri's, Azumi's, and Keiji's, none of whom have background characters with canon names (yet). More characters may (will) be included in this list later, so be forewarned.

Jesus, this took a long time. Also, thank you to LOTUSLOVEMAIL for helping me come up with the names for Fujiko's parents.

Haruto's Background Characters:

Okemia Inoue: Former elementary school teacher. Absolutely awful. Employment status is unknown (but she's definitely no longer a teacher). A very strict, no-nonsense woman with a terrible temper. Very tall all things considered (5'10), quite bony/lanky (roughy 130ish pounds). When Haruto had her, she generally wore a tweed pencil skirt, collared black blouse, and pointed black flats. Dark brown eyes and matching hair in a very tidy bun. Not a hair out of place. Black oval glasses. Eerily put-together. Spoke very articulately.

Fujiko's Background Characters:

Shoji Teruya: Biological Father. Pretty short, relatively skinny (5'3, somewhere between 120-130 lbs). He was even slimmer as a teenager/young adult. Used to be a professional cheerleader (flyer). Is now retired and does cheer coaching instead. Maintains the energy and enthusiasm he had back then, even if he's less active. Golden hair, like Fujiko's, but it's unkempt, unlike hers. Brown eyes. Tan-ish. Yellowish-Orange polo shirt, denim shorts, white tennis shoes. Looks younger than he is.

Koemi Teruya: Biological Mother. A little chubby, even a little muscular. 5'8, somewhere between 180-190 lbs. It makes sense. She's always been a baker, and she owns a cute little local bakery. This very soft, pastel-ish yellow hair, wavy and stomach length, bangs. She wears a simple lavender knee-length dress and a baby pink, lacy apron. Her eyes are teal like her daughter's. White flats. A gentle, generous woman, for the most part, and a hopeless romantic. Will get ever so slightly aggressive if you refuse her sweets.

Hayate Teruya: Biological Older Brother. 5'7, roughly 170 lbs (mostly muscle. He's by far the strongest in the family). A tiny ponytail. Koemi's hair color. Brown eyes. A loose tank top, white with a single lion image. Light wash jeans, grey flip flops. Aviator sunglasses on occasion. He's a university student working toward an architecture degree and he does part-time construction work. Into very stereotypically masculine activities. Used to be kind of a brat, is now much nicer and is extremely protective of his little sister. Still thinks he's cooler than he actually is though.

Mayumi Ōshiro: Former friend/crush. 5'5, roughly 140 lbs. Slight muscle definition. The last time Fujiko saw her, she had a black shaggy bob cut. She currently has a pixie cut instead. Lilac eyes. She wore a black-and-white striped short-sleeved shirt, cherry red overall shorts, and matching red slip-on sneakers. Now that she's older, she wears a grey and black plaid pinafore dress, a burgundy long-sleeved shirt underneath, black leggings, and practical yet stylish black ankle boots. High school student, presumably in the Judo club. Gives off Girl Next Door vibes (and used to literally live next door). Is more cowardly than one would expect.

Kana's Background Characters:

Giichi Omori: Biological Father. Slim, somewhat tall. Kana describes him as wiry. Probably something like 5'8, somewhere between 140-150 lbs. Bad posture makes him look smaller. Hair is greying and he's balding but it's a very graceful, dignified process and he still looks pretty good. Formerly a mid brown color. Dark brown eyes. He's a bank teller. Has a clean, well-pressed, button-up collared shirt, probably a slate blue. Black slacks, black Oxfords. He looks very professional. His personality (at least when not working) is anything but. He's very informal, jokey, and a bit crass. Comes off as intimidating, but he's much better with teenagers than you'd assume.

Tatsuya Omori: Biological Older Brother. 5'9, probably something like 160 lbs. He stole the height genes from his siblings. Taking a gap year, soon-to-be undeclared university student. Is the most responsible and serious Omori sibling, but he is not averse to joining in on/occasionally causing shenanigans. Deep red hair (darker than Kana's). Disconnected undercut style. Brown wayfarer glasses, dark brown eyes. A simple beige sweater, olive khakis, beige chukka boots. His siblings jokingly tease him for being a prep. He doesn't care. A little scared of how directionless he feels.

Emika Omori: Biological Older Sister. 5'6, probably something like 130 lbs. High school student, in her last year, in the yearbook committee. Charming and she knows it. A serial flirt, and uses this to her advantage, but is genuinely nice enough that, if she hurts someone, it's almost certainly by accident. Hair color similar to Tatsuya's. Half-up pigtails, chest-length hair. Dark brown eyes. Long lashes. Kelly green halter top blouse, black leather skirt, black pumps. A beauty mark under her right eye.

Shohei Omori: Biological Older Brother. Emika's twin. 5'6, roughly 135 lbs. High school student, in his last year, in the robotics club. He loves tinkering and machinery, and is a GIANT fan of Rube Goldbergs. Uses his power for evil, and by evil, I mean mischief. All of the Omori siblings like causing trouble, but Shohei is by far the worst. Excellent to go to if you want revenge. Blowout haircut. The only Omori sibling to inherit their father's brown hair. Dark brown eyes. Loose-fitting lime green t-shirt, grey cargo pants (yes, really), and grey sneakers. Sometimes wears safety glasses. A beauty mark on the right side of his chin.

Monterio's Background Characters:

Minato Mukai: Biological Younger Brother. 5'4, 130-140ish lbs and very much still growing. He essentially looks like a younger and less threatening Monterio. Despite being a little broad/muscular like his brother, his hazel eyes are wider. An indigo-colored hoodie and dark-wash jeans. Vivid, tie-dyed high tops. Buzz cut, just like his brother. Elementary school student (nearly middle school). Deaf, extremely well-mannered, and yet significantly more expressive than Monterio. He's a little on the timid side and has difficulties befriending his peers, but he's great with adults and can occasionally have his moments of dry humor. He loves geology.

Ren's Background Characters:

Koyuki Enomoto: Biological Older Sister (Deceased). Was 4'11 at the time of her passing, and roughly 90 lbs. She had whiteish blonde hair before chemo, and she generally kept it shoulder-length and relatively unkept. Pinkish eyes. She wore a straw hat with a light pink ribbon and a flowy white dress with long sleeves, roughly knee-length. Little pink Mary Janes. She had a small gap in her two front teeth. She was a gentle, quiet girl who was very fond of animals and music. She was an elementary school student. Many of her things are completely covered in stickers.

Tamiko Enomoto: Biological Younger Sister. 5'6, still growing, roughly 140-150 lbs. Kind of a tomboy. Middle school student, nearly in high school. Medium brown hair which she perpetually keeps in a high ponytail. Roughly shoulder-length. Straighter than her siblings', but just as messy. Medium brown eyes. A hot pink t-shirt, black basketball shorts, and basketball shoes. A black watch. Extraordinarily scarred legs from various skids on blacktop, but she frankly doesn't care much. Exceptionally outgoing and a little bit wanderlusty. Hates being bored. Loves basketball. Very blunt. Has a bit of a sibling rivalry with Ren.

Tozen's Background Characters:

Junpei Chiba: Adoptive Younger Brother. 5'7 and about to stop growing. Probably around 130-140 lbs. High school student. Has a strange assortment of hobbies. Very good at video games and will gladly talk about them for hours. Also has a weirdly intense affinity with fencing and theater. Has tried dozens of hobbies throughout the years and those have stuck. His hair kind of reminds me of Matsuda from Zero? But without the ahoge and darker. Light blue eyes. Buttercup yellow collared button-up shirt, an open brown vest over the top, brown pants, and brown derby shoes. Also a brown paperboy cap, because yes. Generally pretty laidback and hard to anger. You can do it if you hurt his siblings. Cannot sense lies nor sarcasm, pretty much believes anyone at their word unless it's blatantly obvious (like saying you're fine while crying or claiming to have not eaten the cookies with chocolate smeared on your face).

Ruri Chiba: Biological Younger Sister. 5'2, probably done growing. Middle school student, almost high school. Somewhere between 110-120 lbs. Fiercely protective of her siblings despite being the youngest and smallest. Will bite your face off if you hurt them, do not test her. But she's also surprisingly self-conscious at her core, quick to blame herself for the problems of others. Likes horseback riding, a hobby that her siblings are too afraid to partake in, and is trying out archery. Both siblings share Tozen's habit of cleaning when they're stressed, though he does most of the house chores of his own volition. Mostly golden hair, with some light brown highlights, in two fishtail braids. Golden eyes. A light blue, loose fitting, off-the-shoulder top. Dark wash capri pants. Square-toed red flats and a red bandana in her hair, tied at the top to look like a bow.

Sachiko Nakatani: Ex-girlfriend. Was 5'3 the last time he saw her, but she honestly probably stayed that height. Roughly 120 lbs. Extroverted to the extreme, very genial, and, at the time of being with Tozen, unfortunately shallow and lacking in self-awareness. He is unaware of this because he cut her off entirely (well-deserved), but she now recognizes that part of herself and is gradually working to try and fix the problem. Naturally physically affectionate but has since shied away considerably, nervous about offending others. Is currently in a generally meek, reluctant phase regarding romance as a result of her prior experiences. High school student. Presumably either works on the school newspaper or is in fashion club. When Tozen knew her, she wore a knee-length strawberry pink skirt, a black long-sleeved shirt, and black strappy heels. Her dark brown hair was in a braid with a pink ribbon. Nowadays, it's significantly shorter (chin-length) with a strawberry pink beret. Also a strawberry pink long-sleeved shirt, a white mid-shin length accordion skirt, and similar black strappy heels. A black kitten necklace.

Chimon's Background Characters:

Fumihiro Ueda: Biological Father. Unemployed, former hypnotherapist. 5'5, roughly 160 lbs, slight beer belly. Not at all put together right now. Scraggly navy hair (called black in canon), a little bit scruffy. His bright green eyes have dark bags under them. Only has clean clothes to wear because his wife takes pity on him and does the laundry, but they're sweatpants and tank tops, generally speaking. Perpetually in socks only. Drowning in persistent depression, but it's undiagnosed because he's too stubborn/cheap/scared to get help. Has pretty much given up on everything. In his prime, when Chimon was at his happiest, he was a sincere, compassionate, idealistic man. Back then he was roughly 140ish lbs, his hair was much more tidy (though curlier than his son's), and he had a navy blue button-up shirt with a pocket square (in which he held small candies), khaki chinos, and brown boat shoes. Had the key necklace prior to Chimon. Was (and still is, surprisingly) an avid sports fan, which Chimon does not understand the appeal of.

Joanie's Background Characters:

Marcus Moore: Biological Uncle, Guardian, Adoptive Father in all but paperwork. Professional nanny (hence why Joanie's mom gave her to him), though he mostly takes families with specifically babies and toddlers. A very sensitive man who is a little quick to cry but tries extremely hard at pretty much anything he does. Family-oriented to the max. Enjoys crafts of all sorts (currently very into acrylic pour art and soap making). 6'1 (OMG, a character who hits 6 feet?!) roughly 170-180 lbs, pretty average build. African-American descent. Dark brown eyes. Hair in a line up with waves style. A pretty impressive beard, though it's not long because kiddos are grabby. Rectangular glasses, but he wears contacts at work for the same reason. A black shirt with a copper cardigan over the top. Comfortable jeans and black running shoes.

Rafael Moore: Guardian, Adoptive Father in all but paperwork. Marcus's husband. Director. More strict/better at discipline than Marcus, due to his job requiring him to take charge a fair amount. Even so, considers his husband's sensitivity to be a precious treasure worthy of protection. Loyal and fair. Joins Marcus in the craft appreciation, though he likes soap making less and prefers bookbinding (which takes a hell of a lot of time, so it's a rare treat). Spanish/Latin American descent. 5'8, roughly 180ish lbs. Side-parted pompadour, dark brown hair, on the tannish end. Soft green eyes, not striking like the Uedas' but very pleasant. Wears a dark green flannel, light wash jeans, and black sneakers.

Yuu's Background Characters

Ayame Bando: Biological Older Sister. University student, working toward a degree in advertising with a minor in psychology. Eventually wants to come back and get a degree in graphic design, as well. She doesn't feel skilled enough to be a shoemaker in the family business (though she still works to improve at it), but is dedicated to making it a success through other means. A skilled volleyball player, but she only does intramural. A massive perfectionist, yet too stubborn to cut back on her workload despite her parents' worries. Charismatic and kind, makes many friends. Has OCD and is very anxious, but cares deeply for others, especially her little brother, for whom she provides a place of comfort and understanding. 5'8, 140-150 lbs. Has silver hair, down and waist-length. Choppy bangs. A lime green hair clip. A royal blue t-shirt, mid-length sleeves. Black slacks, a black tool belt and black leather gloves, similar to her brother. Well-crafted one-inch black heels, homemade with Yuu's help. (What? Is her design loosely based on Kei Shirogane? Nooooo /s)

Hachi's Background Characters:

Mika Endo; Biological Mother. Both a florist and a professional crop breeder. Pretty much as short and tiny as Hachi (5'3, 115ish lbs). Is substantially more distant and spacey than she used to be, and generally keeps her thoughts to herself. But her imagination is nearly as rich as her daughter's, and her emotions are much more obviously displayed. When she's joyful, it's astoundingly contagious and honestly kind of beautiful. Patient. Not fond of meeting new people, because it makes her nervous, but she does her best if Hachi ever brings friends over. Similar to her daughter, she does not like to be touched. Raspberry colored eyes, Ashy brown hair done in milkmaid braids. A translucent crystal hair clip that looks like a flower on the left side. A white long-sleeved shirt with raspberry floral pattern, light-wash jeans with some fraying, and gardening boots.

Gou's Background Characters:

Hibiki Iwai: Biological Cousin. Old enough to be out of college, got a sociology degree. Generally pretty open to whatever internships or jobs he can get. 5'9, roughly 165 lbs. A bit more lanky than Gou, but not by much. As the oldest cousin among many, he is by default the leader. Has creative, novel ideas and plans out hang-outs and events pretty meticulously. Loves to debate, and is quite good at it. Tucks away his emotions similar to Gou, presents a facade of confidence. Unhealthily reckless at times; doing dangerous shit is the only way to make it stop feeling like he's just going through the motions of life. Dark hair that's pretty much just as spiky as Gou's naturally, but he tries much harder to tame it. Copper eyes. A dark grey button-up. Reddish-orange odd trousers. Dark brown loafers.

Naruhito Iwai: Biological Cousin (Deceased). Was a middle school student. 5'2, roughly 110ish and growing. One of the older cousins (third or fourth oldest) but since he mostly spent time with his brother and Gou, he had a very youthful demeanor. Was incredibly optimistic, managing to find the good in any situation. Somewhat quiet as the result of having a much more confrontational brother and a naturally extroverted cousin. But he was free-spirited and laughed often. Loved games of all sorts, especially board games and things like capture-the-flag. Dark hair, spiky, a little bit longer than Hibiki or Gou so it was kind of a mess. He had a white t-shirt, a black leather jacket, and a long, neon yellow scarf whose tail reached his hip. Mid-wash denim jeans, black textured sneakers. Copper eyes, almost bright enough to consider orange.
