Lol so I'm making a fake LDOD fighting game because fucking of course I am. It all started with FUCKING 120 combinations of victory quotes for ABSOLUTELY NO REASON because that's what my brain said I need to do one random day during the time I was procrastinating my final trial. But despite having toiled on that for HOURS, I decided, NO, I can't post these yet because I don't even have MOVE SETS for all sixteen of my freaking characters. So, uh...


I'm doing those now. I have four finished so I've decided Imma dump them in groups of four. Lemme explain the actual premise of the game first though.


Honestly, it's mostly just a simplified Smash Bros with some key differences. It's a game of pairs (and stocks, no time limit), and in that way, it's kind of strategic to base what character you play based on who your teammate is playing. It's kind of weird and meta in that the characters themselves are "playing" the game even though they're the characters. They're aware of the fictitiousness of the scenario. Magic does exist in this universe, kind of. Each character has base stats like attack, defense, speed, and jump height that can be manipulated (and there may be something like evasion depending on how I wind up feeling). Like Smash Bros, damage and launch potential are kind of intertwined. The higher the damage, the higher the likelihood of getting "launched" off the stage. HOWEVER. If you reach a certain level of damage, you'll just lose a stock anyway.

Each character has a "normal move" which are usually relatively low-damage and have no special effect, but they can be chained into combos. They also have four "special moves" that usually have effects and may have a drawback. Lastly, they have an "Ultimate Move" (think Final Smash) that each character has guaranteed once per game. Each character's Ultimate Move has two varieties. Hostile Ultimate Moves deal damage, cause debuffs, and/or launch their foes. Collaborative Ultimate Moves mostly heal, buff, and/or protect themselves and their partners (though they may just alter the attack). The latter only comes into play with certain character combinations (for instance, if Azumi's partner is Bisque or Chimon's is Monterio).

Food and items do exist like in Smash. There can also be random weather, but weather is nbd for most of the characters. It only plays a part every now and then, and I'll explain those.

Each character has a victory quote. Half of the time, their partner will react to THEIR quote. The other half of the time, they react to their PARTNER's quote. For instance, Keiji reacts to Kana's quote, but Kana reacts to Azumi's quote.

Understanding now that this is literally SO needlessly complicated because my brain would rather work on this than my epilogue (though to be fair, I promised not to post that while I'm still getting over Covid).
