History: Born the daughter of Epp's sister, Zena Janice, or ZJ, took up skateboarding from a young age and dreamed of going pro when she finished high school. Her dream was almost ruined by an accident that involved her crashing down on a pile of broken glass and her hands being shredded by the shards but luckily they healed with only superficial scars and the occasional shakiness bouts that she hides by wearing oversized hoodies with long sleeves to cover them so people won't just see her disability and let it determine how they see her skills. She meets Sammy shortly after NEST is formed when Lennox had a potluck at his house and invited all the new agents and their families and the two of them started talking about how others see them and how they either let it affect how they act or ignore it.

ZJ learns about the Autobots when she and Sammy were hanging out around after she and her twin had made contact with the AllSpark shard and she and Ironhide had been called in the help save Sam, but ZJ refused to let them leave without her and thereby leading her to find out about her uncle and new friend's occupation as well as the existence of the Autobots. After ROTF, they bond more over their disabilities; Sammy being unable to fully express her emotions after the brain injury she received from the bounce house incident in addition to her new cybernetic appendage and ZJ with her scarred hands and ZJ helps Sammy overcome her ability to perceive and express her feelings without thinking she's weak for doing so through her natural knack for dance. After a few years of hanging out and helping each other, ZJ and Sammy had begun contemplating going into a relationship with each other when Sentinel was revealed to be a traitor, killed Ironhide and captured Sammy and further drives Sammy into a "people who get too close end up getting hurt" spiral after the battle of Chicago.

When Cemetery Wind was formed and sent to hunt the Autobots and any associates of them. ZJ loses contact with Sammy in the aftermath after she goes on the run with Bumblebee and Sam and is forced to cut off any contact attempts as she and her mom and uncle are forced to go off the grid to stay safe from CW. It wasn't until the seemingly unavoidable collision of Earth and Cybertron that ZJ was contacted by an unknown number and she instantly knew it was Sammy and headed out to reunite with her in the UK where Sammy admits her love to her and they become girlfriends.
