Backstory/History: After his Chrysinthean father was killed following his "exposure" during the Avengers Civil War, Tanek and his mother moved from Pennsylvania to California to avoid the hate crimes against Chrysintheans but she was soon killed in a car accident by someone who attempted and failed to take out Tanek. He was then sent to live with his Tia Josephine and her daughter, his cousin, Mireia in Mexico City when he was 12.

He grew up close with his cousin and they both survived the Snap. In 2025, Tanek is a part-time house cleaner/builder and uses his powers as best he can to fix and create small living spaces for people living on the streets or in half-destroyed houses.

When he and Mireia went on a hike into the forests near the city, they discovered some kind of stone architecture near a hidden Aztec temple that contained Egyptian hieroglyphics along with Aztec writing. After Mireia was able to translate some of the Aztec writing to determine the temple was close to one of the Aztec gods' meetings places, they both explored the temple and were met by Quetzalcoatl and Huehuecóyotl who told them that a "war of all the gods" was at hand if they didn't stop the Avatar of Lord Mictlan from reaching the Temple of Anubis to merge the two death gods' powers and so they agreed to become their Avatars to stop that from happening but they were told they would need the help of Marc Spector and Steven Grant in London since he is one of the only remaining former Egyptian Avatars for a long length of time left.
