Ayuma was your typical average college girl. Good grades, plenty of friends, a decent enough job, a slight video game addictions, you know, things you'd expect from someone going through school life.
And that's how she expected things to stay for the rest of her life. Average everything. But one day, she decided to go to the library to catch up on some studying for an upcoming exam. She was searching through dozens of books before one in particular caught her attention.
The book was titled "The Five Cardinal Weapons," and it spoke of 5 legendary heroes who each wielded a specific weapon, one so powerful that they had no equal. These weapons were the sword, the spear, the bow, the shield, and the axe. Probably the most generic set of weapons you could think of, besides maybe guns, cause let's face it, guns are like the first thing people think of when they hear "weapon."
Agreed. Anyways, while taking out and reading this book out of sheer interest, its pages suddenly began to glow and Ayuma was literally zapped into it. When she woke up, she found herself in an entirely new location, with these priest dudes in front of her, and 4 other similarly aged guys to her left and right. And the ones beside her all were carrying weapons. You get one guess as to what they all had.
And after taking a quick look around, Ayuma realized she was carrying a weapon of her own as well. In her hands was a mighty battle axe which housed a shining purple gem. And seeing what weapons the 4 boys were carrying, she instantly knew the situation. She, along with the boys, had been transported into the story she was just reading about. And she was chosen to be the next Axe hero!
Full Name: Ayuma Saruwatari
Age: 20
Height: 5'10"
Cardinal Weapon: Axe (Black and Purple colouring)
Nicknames: Ayu, Demon of the Axe, Princess
Possesses strongest attack power of the 5 weapons, but the shortest range
With the five being told they were now in an entirely different world than their own, they were brought before the king of the land who explained everything, to some extent, to them. His name was King Altcray Melromarc XXXII, an absolute idiot and douche of a character. You'll see why later on if you're not familiar with the Shield Hero story.
This world they were brought to, also named "Melromarc" was under attack by "Waves." Think of them like waves of enemies in video games, where after you defeat one, there's a small break of relief time before the next shows up and the enemies are even stronger than before. The duty of the cardinal heroes was to defend the land from these waves, gathering up party members to do battle with the enemy forces. In fact, to make things simple, let's introduce you to the other heroes, since you'll be hearing all of their names A LOT.
Starting from the left, we've got everyone's favourite, and the Shield Hero himself: Naofumi Iwatani. Next to him is everyone's least favourite, and a big ol' perv, Motoyasu, the Spear Hero. Beside him in the blue, we've got the know-it-all loner, Ren, the Sword Hero. And lastly, we've got probably the most underrated of them all, Itsuki, the Bow Hero.
Agreeing to serve under the kingdom to defend against the waves, the 5 began their journeys. However, due to their weapons restricting one another, they were unable to accompany each other, so each had to make their own parties on their own. Now, the king did offer each hero some of the mightiest warriors the kingdom currently had to offer, however, Ayuma had other plans.
She preferred to do things from scratch, finding her own party members and learning with them from the ground up, rather than just being given someone she hardly knows anything about. It was actually a fairly smart tactic. So, for day 1, Ayuma was all on her own. However, she was able to acquire some light chainmail armor with the funds she was given, so at least she was already getting those upgrades.
But then jump to her second day and things started going downhill. Not for Ayuma, but for Naofumi. You see, Ayuma, as well as, all other heroes, had been called to the king's throne room. Upon arriving, Naofumi was instantly brought forth and called out for raping the one party member he had received the day before. A red head named Myne. If you know anything about rotsh, then you feel nothing for this bitch. If you feel sorry for her for even a second, then you deserve the same punishment as her.
Ayuma noticed something rather strange during the whole excursion though. The spear hero, Motoyasu, was actually wearing the leather armor Naofumi had purchased the day before, which struck Ayuma curious. However, before she could say anything, the trial was over with and Naofumi ran out. Ayuma decided to follow him as she believed something was up with the whole thing. Now, Naofumi from this point on was gonna have trouble trusting anyone, so, to gain his trust, Ayuma set out to find a way to, while not join his party, at least make it so she and him can travel alongside one another without their weapons restricting each other.
To attempt this, she went to the church in the kingdom and laid her weapon before a Dragon Hourglass. This mystical hourglass is said to hold the sands of time which predict when the next wave will strike. But, it also houses other magical and upgrading abilities. Ayuma wished for the restriction to be broken between at least her and Naofumi, and she was able to. Buuuut.....
To go through with this changing of the rules, she had to give up everything but the weapon on her back. This meant all her money, armor, and the very clothes she came here with in the first place. And while reluctant at first, she swallowed her pride and went through with it. Thankfully, she was given a cloak to cover herself up, so she wasn't running around naked or anything. And, after reuniting with Naofumi, she discovered that her wish was indeed granted.
With the two sharing the same ideas, they set out to try and find their own party members. And after meeting a mysterious older fellow, he brought the two into a tent filled with cages. And housed within each one was a slave. This man was a slave trader, and seeing as Naofumi was the only one between the two with funds, and both of them being in desperate situations, the trader felt this was the best option they had at the time. And he was honestly correct.
And after being shown through dozens of different slaves, they eventually came to a cage with two little girls inside. The two were Demi-humans, which basically meant people with animal features. One was a little girl with a raccoon tail and ears, and the other had a tiger tail, a bit of fur on her arms and face, and whiskers. And seeing as these two were the only ones that Naofumi and Ayuma could afford, they were the best they could get.
The two slaves were branded with magic crests, which meant they had to be obedient to their appointed master. Raphtalia, the raccoon girl, was handed over to Naofumi, and Ayuma received the tiger demi-human, whose name was Neela. And with only a week before the next wave would hit, the pairs set out to do training. But, with both believing their training tactics might interfere with the other, they split apart and would meet again before the wave arrived.
Now, while Neela was a slave, Ayuma didn't actually treat her like one. Not once, actually. Instead, she treated her like she was her own child, with love, care, and support. And over their week of training, Neela grew into a proud woman who could fight alongside Ayuma as her equal. You see, the faster the gain experience in this world, the faster you age, so in just a few days, Neela grew from a timid little girl into a courageous teenager.
And with more money in their pockets, the two were able to acquire some much needed gear. For Neela, she gained her trusty magic staff. And for Ayuma, she acquired her signature armor. The Black Empress Armor!
This armor, while it may look pretty heavy, is actually composed of a special ore that's super lightweight. The armor itself grants full immunity to all poisons, and grants heavy resistances to fire, water, and wind based attacks. That includes lightning, btw. And with their upgrades, they were now ready to take on the forces of the wave. But, they didn't have the time to reunite with Naofumi and Raphtalia, so they two were going in alone.
But thanks to their week of training, and eventually reuniting with Naofumi, they were able to successfully defeat the wave and defend the town that was under attack. Most of this was thanks to the skills and powers Ayuma had acquired.
Skills and Abilities:
-Strike Wolf Axe(Grants extra attacking power)
-Barbarian Minotaur Axe(Increases attack/Lowers defense and can create shockwaves)
-Ice Titan Axe(Creates ice with every strike)
-Soaring Thunderbird Axe(Generates and fires electricity)
-Twin Serpent Axe(A single scratch can inflict poison which leads to paralysis)
-Dragon Heart Axe(Searing Dragon's Roar: Strikes opponent with massive explosion of flames)
-And Many More....
-Demon Axe(???)
With all these abilities, the wave was a breeze for all the heroes, and a party was thrown for them afterwards, which even Naofumi was invited too. However, Myne(who was now part of the Spear Hero's party) pointed out that Raphtalia was a slave for Naofumi. So, Motoyasu challenged him to a duel, with Raphtalia's "freedom" on the line. Ayuma intervened however, saying Neela was a slave as well, but that neither her nor Naofumi treated either of them like actual slaves. Motoyasu, being the hardheaded idiot he was, refused to listen, and he and Ayuma dueled instead.
Ayuma likes to battle with strategy, and seeing as she had far less attacking range than Motoyasu's spear, she kept her distance from him, choosing to attack when he made mistakes, letting her close the distance. For majority of their fight, she was in control. But at its tail-end, when the two went for a final clash, Ayuma was struck by Myne from the sidelines who made her lose balance. Motoyasu got a free cheap shot on Ayuma and put her down, forcing her to yield the fight, and making it so Neela and Raphtalia would be freed of their slavery.
SOMEHOW, NOT A SINGLE PERSON WHO WATCHED THIS MATCH SAW MYNE CHEAT!!! WTF!? And because of her loss, Ayuma and Naofumi had to watch as their only party members had their crests removed, grating them freedom. And for both of the heroes, they believed that they'd both lose their companions because of this. Now, we all know that, with all the anger in him, Naofumi unlocked his totally busted Curse Shield. However, for Ayuma, something WAY deadlier occurred.
Having even more rage then Naofumi because she's the one who actually lost, Ayuma suddenly blacked out and awoke in a completely black room with nothing but a single light shining down over her. Within this room, screens of her past experiences were shown, as well as a black sphere which began to float around her. This sphere offered her a choice. And if she accepted, Ayuma would gain the power to never lose anyone ever again. And hearing this, she gladly accepted and absorbed the black sphere into her axe, giving her a brand new form for it. The Demon Axe.
Now, to those of you thinking "Oh, this is just the same as Naofumi's Curse shield, it's nothing new," you couldn't be more wrong. And you'll see why later on. Anyways, Ayume quickly came back to in the real world again, with Neela hugging her and saying she still wishes to be with her, despite not being her slave anymore. And the same happened for Naofumi and Raphtalia, so Myne and Motoyasu's efforts were for nothing.
So besides gaining this new Demon Axe ability, nothing actually changed. Naofumi gained a new member to his party, the lovable filolial, Filo, and after giving help to another town in need, the group acquired a wagon to travel in. But skip ahead a few days, Ayuma and Naofumi eventually came to a town suffering from a deadly virus. Thanks to Ren, the sword hero, he had slayed a dragon which nested on a nearby mountain however, its corpse now became rotten and was spreading a deadly disease through the air, so the group set out to deal with its remains.
But when they arrived at the mountains peak where the corpse was, it suddenly began moving. Yeah, turns out the dragon became a freakin' zombie! So a battle broke out and, because she got distracted, Filo got herself swallowed whole by the dragon. Naturally, this pissed Naofumi the fuck off to the point he unleashed his Curse shield for the first time. However, it sparked an unmatched fury within Ayuma as well, and she unleashed her Demon Axe.
Using this axe sparked a complete change in Ayuma. Her eyes became an empty black colour, as did her long brown hair, and a dark armor appeared over her normal set. Her axe morphed as well, symbols of darkness and spikes growing all over it as it resonated an aura of pure evil. Ayuma lost complete control of herself, unleashing her immense fury onto the zombie dragon.
She used a spell which she calls "The Endless Black Void," and summoned this huge full black circle in the sky above the dragon. Long black arms shot out of it and latched onto the dragon, pulling it up into the circle until it was absorbed into the void. But, as Ayuma closed the circle, Filo was able to fall back into the world, safe and sound and still alive. But Ayuma and Noafumi were still raging and were about to duke it out between themselves. A battle which would surely kill everyone.
But their companions intervened, with Raphtalia dealing with Naofumi and Neela dealing with her master/mother, Ayuma. And, after being struck by Ayuma's demonic death magic, she was able to remind her of their relationship together, and revert Ayuma back to normal. Only, Neela fell into a state of death, and if she was not cured in 3 days, she would stay that way. Ayuma needed Holy Light to cure Neela, so the group was headed back to the kingdom so they could receive some from the church. And along the way, they encountered two individuals who would eventually mix things up quite a bit.
Their names were Melty and Alex, and long story short, they were the second princess and prince of Melromarc. Myne, also known as Malty, was the first princess, but due to her constant lying and other bullshit, Melty was giving the right to the throne before her. The two were granted permission to travel back with the group to Melromarc, and, while Alex was stubborn, he grew an affection for Ayuma after trying her outstanding cooking. She was different though, not really caring about Alex at the time.
And after dropping the royals off in the kingdom, Ayuma got herself that Holy Light and used it to heal Neela. The only problem, it took a while to kick in, and with the next wave hitting right now, Ayuma was forced to go in all on her lonesome. Oh, and before the wave hit, she and Naofumi had a very harsh verbal brawl which separated them, meaning that Ayuma was literally all by herself for this wave.
And whilst heading out to where the boss of the wave was located, Ayuma ran into Itsuki, the bow hero, temporarily teaming up with him so she didn't get overwhelmed. Differences were put aside and eventually, the two and his team arrived where the boss was fighting the remaining heroes and their parties. On top of a giant flying ghost pirate ship! None of the heroes were too thrilled to see Ayuma and Naofumi there though, so the other 3 banded together on their own and began ignoring their seemingly brilliant ideas to do their own lame shit.
And after they took down some tougher minion level enemies, the boss appeared, and it proved to be a greater challenge than any would've thought. Even when the bow, sword, and spear heroes united to attack with their strongest techniques at once, they did maybe only 1% of damage to the creature. Even Ayuma, whose Dragon Heart axe had upgraded to the mighty blue flame, only managed to do up to 10%. However, Naofumi unleashed his dreaded Curse shield, and while the pain and power from it was taking a toll on his body, he was able to control it and wield it to its full capabilities.
With a gigantic metal spiky casket appearing above the boss, it was swallowed up, dying instantly once those doors closed. Naofumi went through monumental pain afterwards, but he was able to withstand it and not pass out. But, everyone quickly realized there was a huge problem. The wave wasn't ending, despite the fact that the boss was slain. But their questions were quickly answered when an unknown enemy appeared. Her name was simply, Glass.
Glass had observed the fight that had just occurred with the boss and was impressed by Naofumi, wishing to face him one-on-one. However, with him exhausted from his use from the Curse Shield, he would certainly die, even with the help of his own party members. So, the three lame heroes faced her first, and quickly got their asses kicked. Glass proved to be an even greater challenge than even the boss, and seeing her overpower three heroes at once proved that even more. And so, to give Naofumi time to recharge, Ayuma took it upon herself to face Glass.
Ayuma stood a little bit of a better chance than the lame heroes did, but the difference in power was still clear. Glass used the fans she wielded to even stab Ayuma right through her armor, which, you know, is made of a super tough ore. Buuuut, before Glass could kill Ayuma, a new challenger appeared! Neela was back, bitches! And she took on Glass as well, using the leftover Holy Light in her to try and one-shot her. But, even with OP light magic, it still proved to be no good against Glass. And Naofumi was nowhere near ready to fight again, so Ayuma realized that she had to choice but to use it again.
She informed Naofumi to escape while he could, and he did listen. Then, after forcing Neela to escape with him, she let loose the Demon Axe once again. But remember how last time that dark armor appeared on her? This time, her transformation was much different. You see, that black sphere that she had absorbed into her axe wasn't just a source of power. It was an actual demon named, Sefira. And seeing the destructive power Ayuma had when she was in control of the Demon Axe prior, Sefira chose to take the reigns this time, transforming Ayuma into the very demon housed within her.
Now we're talkin'! Sefira definitely changes the game, and shows just how different the Curse powers are from the demonic powers. Anyways, Sefira now did battle against Glass, and the latter stood no chance now. And with a literal demon using demonic abilities, the dark energy for each spell was chaotic. And once again, the Endless Black Void was summoned. The black circle appeared in the sky and those black arms reached down and latched onto Glass. But mere moments before she was swallowed up, Glass vanished, and Sefira's anger that her prey had escaped drove her mad. But, with the wave now coming to an end, Sefira chose to give control back to Ayuma.
But when she turned back to normal, Ayu was unconscious, and all her armor had previously been blasted off from her transformation into the demon. The three lamo heroes, as well as, Myne surrounded her, and were both jealous and terrified of this demonic power Ayuma possessed. So, they actually captured Ayuma and brought her before the king. He demanded to know how she obtained this power, but Ayuma responded with the wrong answers. She told the king and Myne that she knew they set up Naofumi from the start, figuring out their little plan. So what did the royals do about it? They took away Ayuma's weapon and took her away, selling her to a slave trader who then sold her to a noble who just loved his torture. The king even paid off the three heroes to act like Ayuma had died of a heartattack during the wave. Told you, he's a dick.
Anyways, the king was able to somehow just barely convince Naofumi and Neela that Ayuma had died too, even giving them her axe as proof, and so Neela ended up joining Naofumi's party for the time being. They even began protecting princess Melty and Prince Alex when Myne was secretly ordering them to be assassinated so she could take the throne next. Shit went down and eventually, Melty and Alex were picked up by a nobleman named Idol Rabier(pronounced Ee-doll.)
By now, a week had gone by since the last wave, and Naofumi and his party stormed Idol's complex to rescue the royals. Neela and Raphtalia knowing the place very well as they were once slaves to the noble, being tortured by him daily. And so, after dealing with Idol, they set out to free the slaves, rescuing several demi-humans. And after all the demi-humans, only one slave was left, a supposed human girl who'd been there for a week. Yeah, you see where this is going.
Neela found the cell where this human girl was kept, seeing her chained to a wall and her body slumped all the way over. Neela busted in and used her magic to light up the dark cell, but was horrified by what she saw. This girl had been put through the ringer. Whip marks all over her body, several missing fingers, stab wounds, signs of drowning, branding marks, and much, MUCH more. And when Neela finally got a good look at the girls face, she nearly broke down. As you've probably guessed, the girl was Ayuma. But there was still more missing from her. Her left eye was now gone, as well. And.... uh..... she was in a coma.....
Now don't get the wrong idea, she was still alive. She was very near death though, as if her mind had shut down but her body was refusing to die. And once they freed her, Idol had reappeared, using an ancient spell to unleash a monstrous beast. A, uh, dragon that looked more like a Tyrannosaurus Rex. Anyways, the dragon killed Idol and the group fled from the complex until they reached a lake that'd take too long to go around. They were to make their final stand there against this dragon, and maybe, just maybe, they could defeat it.
They let loose everything they had, minus Naofumi's Curse Shield, and absolutely nothing worked. Not even when they combined some of their magic attacks, like Alex's metal arrows and Neela's newly acquired black flames. This dragon seemed unstoppable. Or, at least it was until the literal Queen of Filolial's showed up! Yeah, Filo's queen, a freakin' godzilla chicken showed up and one shot this dragon! And the group discovered her name was Fitoria. She watches over the whole world, and is pretty pissed with how events have gone down.
She took the group back to her sanctuary, even turning into her human form to speak with the shield and axe heroes. However, as Ayuma was in a coma, Neela spoke with her instead. Long story short, she wanted Naofumi and Ayuma to somehow make up with the other heroes, because if not, then they'd have no chance to succeed in the future waves. Fitoria would kill them all herself and have new heroes take over. But, Naofumi being the stubborn prick that he can be, told her it was pointless. There was no chance the other three heroes would even consider listening to him. Just seeing what happened to Ayuma meant they could turn their heads away from anything.
Fitoria then took Melty as a hostage in order to duel with Filo, and after a very brutal fight, Filo managed to get just one hit in. But if was enough to prove to Fitoria that Filo was ready to be the next Queen of their kind. She let Melty go and then after yet another discussion with Naofumi and Neela, which pretty much ended the same way, Fitoria transported everyone to a random location which was supposedly near where another hero was. They eventually came to the border and, of course, they ran into the worst hero of them all. Fucking Motoyasu and that dumb bitch, Myne were there.
The two informed the group that Ren and Itsuki, as well as all their party members, had been killed, and naturally, they blamed Naofumi for their deaths. But then Naofumi and Neela threw the counter jab and revealed Ayuma to them. Myne was completely stunned that they'd found her at all, and Motoyasu might as well have shit his pants. A fight broke out but it was rather one-sided. Neela, using her deadly black flames, solo'd all of Motoyasu's party and delivered the most satisfying punch in Shield Hero history, right square into Myne's face. But the happy feelings were cut short. A massive beam of light was crashing down from the sky, and despite not wanting to, Naofumi gathered up everyone, including Motoyasu's party, and took the attack head on, just narrowly blocking it all with his Curse Shield.
And then right after, the real villain showed his ugly face. The Pope of the church was the one who just tried to kill everyone, and he wielded a variant of the legendary weapons, which can literally change in between them all. Now that's OP! Anyways, he sealed everyone, and himself inside this giant magic cathedral, separating everyone from Ayuma as well who laid in their wagon outside. An epic battle broke out and, while they all struggled to combat the Pope due to his crazy strong changing weapon, the battle sort of evened out when, surprise, Itsuki and Ren showed up.
Their battle with the Pope continued, and they were able to substantially drain his magic energy, but with a savage blow, he struck down the 4 heroes there, and then shot Neela in the leg with a magic arrow. And as a subordinate of the supposed "Demon of the Axe" he was to kill her first. However, as he went to strike her down, a massive pillar of black light suddenly busted through the roof of the cathedral. The arrow was destroyed, and Ayuma's axe flew from Naofumi's back and into the light. And, appearing from the light as it disippated was Ayuma herself, but not as you'd expect. In reality, it was Sefira, as she'd turned Ayuma into her true demonic form once again.
Sefira was more than a match for the Pope, tanking his attacks with relative ease, and even bouncing back with her own deadly dark magic. But, when a stray arrow pierced through her head, it looked like Sefira, and Ayuma, were dead. Like, for good this time. But, while the Pope had his back turned, Sefira came back to life. You see, when they were struck in the head, it made the conscious Ayuma black out again, giving Sefira full control like before. And she used her power to reshape them into a god damn monster!! They turned into a giant three headed hydra!
In this form, Sefira's strength sky-rocketed, and it proved to be far more powerful than the Pope's weapon. Sefira destroyed it, and then, with all three of her draconic heads, she ripped the Pope apart and literally ate him. However, she was far from done. Sefira then turned her attention to the heroes, looking to make all of them, even Naofumi, her next victims. An even greater battle broke out, with Naofumi finally unleashing the full might of his Curse Shield to stand a chance. Everyone there combined all their magic to deal a savage blow to Sefira, blowing off two of the three heads and severely weakening the beast. And, when the Queen of Melromarc arrived and froze Sefira in place, Naofumi went in for the final blow.
By summoning a giant metal dragon head, he used it to literally rip off the final head of the hydra and kill it. This was the Blood Sacrifice, and it took a huge toll on Naofumi as it drained him of most of his blood. Sefira's body dissipated and Ayuma laid there, human once more and unconscious.
Skip ahead a week and Ayuma finally woke up. She was greeted by Neela and Prince Alex and they informed her of.... well..... everything that had happened to Ayuma after she'd fallen into her coma. In fact, despite Sefira supposedly being dead now after being defeated, her black angel wings were still coming out of Ayuma's back. These discoveries crushed Ayuma, but still, it didn't deter her from getting back up.
If she could get back up, that is. Her legs were kinda paralyzed for a while, she for the time being, she was reduced to being stuck in a wheelchair. And, Alex was kind enough to use his metal magic to craft her some new armor, basically the same as her previous set, but with slits in the back for her new wings. (Sadly missing the wings for the image below, and it should be the left eye missing.)
Ayuma, much like Naofumi a few days before, was approached by the Queen of Melromarc, and she informed her that, the very next day, a trial would be held to accuse Myne and the King of all their wrong doings since the heroes arrived. And, to only Naofumi and Ayuma, the Queen told them that they'd be found guilty and sentenced to death. At the time, Ayuma was all for it, seeing what they caused her, so much pain and suffering. And once the day came around, everyone gathered into the throne room. The Queen, along with Alex took their rightful places on their thrones, with Melty next to her mother, and Myne and the King were brought into the room in shackles. Their trial began, and to ensure no lies were told, they were both branded with slave crests.
In the most satisfying scene in Anime and Manga history, the whole truth was let out. Myne and the King purposely framed the Shield Hero due to past events that a previous shield hero had done, then they colluded with the church, who, you know, tried to kill the heroes! Then, for Myne specifically, she tried to assassinate her younger siblings to take the throne for herself! And, after seeing Ayuma side with Naofumi, the two decided that she needed to be removed from the equation as well, so they captured and paid off the other heroes to keep their mouths shut. Ayuma even listed off every single torture that had been done to her, just to rub extra salt into their wounds.
The two royals lost all their power, and the position of King was granted to Alex. And his first act as the newly crowned king? To have his older sister and father executed for their heinous acts. So, to the guillotines they all went, with Myne and the King being set up to have their heads chopped off. But, unfortunately, Ayuma and Naofumi had a change in their hearts and stopped it all, thinking they'd be no better than the royals if they were to let them die. But, they still got in some nice demands, having changed the kings name to Trash, and Myne's to Slut, and her real name, Malty, now being Bitch. Satisfying? Not as much as those two dying, but it'd have to do.
A celebration was then held for the heroes for their victory over the Pope, even though it was all Ayuma who killed him. But, King Alex took Ayuma aside for some privacy to.... express himself. At last, everyone's dreams came true, Alex showed his love to her, and as his first true act as the king, he asked Ayuma if he could be a member of her party. And Ayuma gladly accepted, finally giving her party its 3rd member. And the two sealed the deal with a kiss. Buuuut.....
Mere moments after, time itself stopped for all but Ayuma. A shadowy figure appeared behind the now frozen Alex, and Ayuma knew it all too well. Sefira had returned. In fact, while everyone thought she'd been killed after her defeat from Naofumi, that was sadly not the case. She was severely weakened and had to rejuvinate, and with Ayuma reliving so many negative emotions during the trial, it fueled her so quickly that the demon was back to full strength. And so, Sefira merged herself with Ayuma once more, locking her away within her own soul, and turning her body into that of Sefira's. And, with her wings spread wide, Sefira took off with Ayuma in tow to an unknown location, with her goal to get strong enough to not only defeat Naofumi and his Curse shield, but to destroy literally all life and shroud this world in darkness.
Now, for a while we don't actually get to see Ayuma or Sefira, so we'll just go over what happens in between in a quick montage reading. Time resumed, Alex saw Sefira take off, he told everyone and they figured out where she was headed. They followed the demon to a set of islands called Cal Mira, they met the craziest ship captain named Xev, and his first mate, Krystal, everyone spread out, looking for Sefira and gaining more levels. They ran into two more interesting people named L'arc and Therese. There, that's good enough.
In between all this, Naofumi and his party discovered a Dragon Hourglass beneath the ocean where these islands were, meaning the islands would also fall prey to a wave, and its sands were nearing its current rotation. So, after sending a message out to the queen, she had her fleet of battleships arrive so the heroes could stand a chance against the wave. L'arc and Therese aided in the defeat of the boss, but that's when Glass, the mysterious warrior from the previous wave, returned. And even though she wished to face Naofumi before, she was more keen on facing Ayuma now, after the defeat she was given by her.
Long story short, with Ayuma not their, and after finding out that she, plus L'arc and Therese are all heroes from their own world, a raging battle broke out, with Naofumi taking down L'arc and Therese and Alex and Neela taking out Glass. But remember how, when Glass left the battlefield before, that the wave ended? Well, it didn't end this time. Because after their defeat, the whole ocean began to shake, like a god damn massive earthquake was happening! And then, from beneath the surface, a colossal sized black leviathan arose! Sefira was back and in her deadliest form yet!
Glass and her other world companions quickly transported back to flee from the beast, and the ultimate battle let loose. But the leviathan proved too strong for nearly everything that was thrown at it. Even Naofumi's Curse Shield, which had previously defeated Sefira in her hydra form, stood no chance. And with the Queen's fleet swiftly destroyed, all hope had been lost as everyone was left adrift in the water. Or, should we say, all but one. For you see, King Alex was the final person left standing, using his metal magic to create a platform to hover above the ocean, facing off against Sefira who could only laugh at the young, inexperienced, and puny king.
Sefira quickly found out that that was a bad idea. Alex unleashed the ultimate magic, one that can only be used by whoever holds the title of King of Melromarc. By using his own life force as a power source, he draws upon the very mana, magical particles, in the air to wield all of creation in the form of light avatars. From giant golden gauntlets, to a massive golden knight, to turning himself into a colossal golden dragon with rainbow wings! Alex brought the heat, and Sefira suffered, just barely being able to withstand the blows Alex was dishing out.
But all good things must come to an end. After Sefira informed Alex that, if he were to kill her, then he'd also be killing the host, which was Ayuma, he hesitated in his final attack, allowing Sefira to retaliate and drain him of his life force. And when Alex could not produce anymore magic, he reverted back to normal and was promptly swallowed by Sefira. But he wasn't dead, no, no, Sefira had other plans for the young king.
Alex found himself within an empty black room, with nothing but a light shining down from above him. And also in the room was Ayuma, dangling above him with a bunch of grotesque tentacles penetrating her and draining her of her infinite life force from being a hero. Sefira, or at least her soul which also looked like her true form, revealed herself and began to beat the shit out of Alex, nearly turning him into a blood stain on the floor. And with the king do weak, Sefira used those tentacles she can produce to latch onto Alex and begin draining his near infinite life force as well. But the king became the most badass character ever when he ripped off those tentacles and literally punched an arm off of Sefira!
He had heard Ayuma's voice from within, with her cries for help to him, and this gave him the strength and drive to fight back. And, with the literal power of love, began tearing Sefira's soul apart. With each strike, he would blow off more and more from the demon, and once he landed that strike to the head, it was sent flying off into the darkness, and Ayuma was freed from her grasp as those tentacles detatched themselves. Sefira's body disintegrated, and Alex held the unconscious Ayuma in his arms. And with her eyes finally opening, the two broke down into tears as Sefira was finally gone for good. Or for about 10 seconds.
For like the bajillionth time, that damn demon came back, but only her head remained at this point. She sprouted more tentacles from where her neck would've been and latched onto Alex, trying to take him out for breaking her connection to Ayuma. And, despite not wanting to at all, Ayuma, and Alex, knew what had to be done. And with a simple wish, Ayuma's axe just poofed into her hands. She struck Alex and Sefira, breaking the demon from him and then, with her axe bursting into white fire and light, she landed the killing blow. Like, for real this time! Sefira was no more.
But the damage had been dealt, and Alex succumbed to his wound, dying in Ayuma's arms as the leviathan they dwelled in disappeared, ending the wave until the next would come. However, thanks to Krystal, who possessed healing and light based magic, she was able to revive Alex, and bring happiness to this truly dark day. Once again, the heroes were victorious, and all returned to Cal Mira to celebrate.
And a few days later, and after adding both Xev and Krystal to her party, Ayuma was approached by Alex. Now, for all you who hoped it would be with Naofumi, sorry, but Alex beat him to it if he was thinking about it. Anyways, Alex popped that legendary question, revealing that special ring to Ayuma. And naturally, our girl said YES!!! And just a few days later, the ceremony was set. The third and newest princess of Melromarc was born. Ayuma Saruwatari, Third Princess of Melromarc, now that sounds epic and powerful.
With the demon finally gone, peace had returned to the kingdom, at least for the time being. Only 3 days after the royal wedding, more demons began showing up. The king of the Underworld, whose name is Aidoneus, was dwelling over the loss of his oldest duaghter, who was Sefira. And his three other children, Erines, Kovas, and Rhia, who were also demons, wanted revenge, just as he did. However, despite being just as, if not, more powerful than Sefira, the demon king knew they could not contend with the might of the heroes and the king. And so, he hatched a devious plan.
By using his dark magic, Aidoneus opened up three portals to other worlds, and each of his children would travel to them and find those with darkness in their hearts to recruit them and have them aid in their quest to conquer Melromarc. And after finding out this plan, the forces of good set out to stop them. Their plan was basically the same, go to these worlds as well and find those with good in their hearts to help them in this soon to be war. The queen even mix-matched all the heroes parties to give more variety! For Ayuma, she went along with Itsuki, the bow hero, Alex, Krystal, Filo, and two more members of Itsuki's party. And they quickly set out to world 1. And upon arriving, while they weren't familiar with the workings of this world, those of you reading definitely are.
The three worlds opened are actually the worlds of the 4 fighters we've discussed previously. World 1 is that of My Hero Academia, world 2 is of Fairy Tail, and World 2 is of RWBY. And all the fighters dwell in these worlds as well. Now, we didn't include any feats they've shown in this story, because if we did, there wouldn't be much of a fight at all. Let's just say, the Cry in this story would wreck everyone in an instant. Anyways, Ayuma and her team arrived in world 1 and pretty much met the now third year student of U.A academy, Tenshonoma Cryshiki, or as all of you know him, Cry.
Cry took them to U.A to discuss with the principal about their worlds situation. Now, since this was a world of heroes, they naturally agreed to help, but first, they needed to know that they weren't being brought into a war to do all the work. The wanted Ayuma and her team to prove they could lift their own weight. And what better way than in U.A's annual sports festival, am I right!?
In order to come back home with more forces, the team had to win the sports festival. Not an easy task. However, the team proved more than a match for most third year students at U.A. Ayuma even taking on such students as Neito Monoma, Rikyo Sato, Eijiro Kirishima, and Shoto Todoroki, the latter proving to be her match. Now, since this was a festival, their weapons were restricted however, everyone, even the heroes, had training so they could wield magic without the use of their weapons. And, once Ayuma reached the quarter finals, where she took on Todoroki, their battle shook the entire stadium. And in an epic final clash, the two actually KO'D each other.
So Ayuma was out, and their goal was left to Alex and Krystal. Krystal got an automatic pass to the finals, and Alex had to face off with Cry. And in an even more epic clash, Alex unleashed his grand magic like he did against Sefira. It was literally almighty Creation vs Reality itself, a real nail-biter. But, Cry just edged Alex out and moved on to face Krystal in the final. But somehow, Krystal defied every law possible and beat Cry!! She overpowered an attack with the force of a supernova to strike him down!!! WTF!?
Their goal was a achieved, and with Ayuma regaining consciousness, they could return to Melromarc with all of U.A's 41 third year students. Yes, Shinso was included. But once they returned, the war had already begun. Within the other worlds, time actually moved differently within them, so Ayuma's team was the last to return. But despite their bad timing, their numbers greatly turned the tides of the battle, at least until the demons arrived. Aidoneus' children were first to appear on the battlefield, with Drake, a member of Team DLTA from the RWBY world slaying Erines; Damos and Tetsa, members of Fairy Tail slaying Kovas, and Ayuma and Cry taking on Rhia.
Each of the demons had been granted special abilities. Sefira's was overwhelming strength and the power of corruption. Erines had shapeshifting. Kovas had super regeneration powers. And Rhia had the ability to absorb oncoming attacks which increase his physical strength. The two threw everything that had at Rhia, but Ayuma was the only that could do even a bit of damage. This is because her axe could bypass the demons abilities and hit him where it hurts. However, upon discovering this, Rhia purposely separated Ayuma from her mighty weapon. And after pinning her down and threatening to impale her, it looked like our axe hero was finally done for.
Not if Cry has anything to say about it!! He began wielding Ayuma's axe and chopped off one of Rhia's arms. And seeing he could even use the abilities from the axe, this made things very clear that he was chosen to be the axe hero as well! The only reason he wasn't chosen was because I guess Ayuma beat him to it, or something like that. Anyways, Cry finished the job, using the axe to throw Rhia into the god damn sun! But the fight proved too much for the kid and he blacked out. And with all his children now dead, Aidoneus finally revealed himself. But the only ones left standing for the side of good were Ayuma, Neela, and Alex. However, in the case of Neela, things had pretty much gone to shit for her.
Yeah, remember all the way back when Ayuma first used her demon axe and struck Neela with that death magic? Turns out it wasn't actually death magic! It was a demon seed, and it was implanted into Neela. And by now, she was turning into a demon, one that looked just like Sefira. However, she still had total control over herself, but just with all the power Sefira brought to the table. Naturally, this crushed Ayuma, but she had to stow those feelings for this final battle.
The battle itself was brutal to start for the side of good. Not only did Aidoneus quickly take out Alex by tearing off one of his legs, he impaled Ayuma through one of her legs too and separated her from her axe, just as Rhia did. But as he went for the killing blow, looking to impale her once again, Neela interfered, getting in the way and taking the attack instead. But having been impaled through her very heart, her battle was over. Aidoneus was kind enough to give Ayuma her time to take in her loss. And as she held her daughter in her arms, Ayuma was forced to watch as Neela died before her eyes, bearing a smile which Ayuma had taught to her all that time ago.
But her despair had to be cut short, as she was the only person who could stand against the demon king. And, with Alex passing on his grand magic to her, she combined it and her Dragon Heart ability from her axe into something all new and WAY overpowered. She transformed into a gigantic rainbow dragon, and the true final battle kicked off with a BANG!! Even when Aidoneus trapped Ayuma within the Endless Black Void, which you cannot move, hear, see, or even think inside, she broke out and trapped him between her jaws. Then, with him wide open, she unleashed her final attack. RADIANT INFINITY!!! She absolutely annihilated Aidoneus and brought light to the world yet again, ending the great war once and for all, and sending those villains from the other worlds back home with their tails between their legs.
But the damage had been dealt. Even with her victory, Ayuma was the one who felt she had lost, with Neela's death now haunting her. Ayuma quickly fell into a state of depression, and just two weeks after the war, she disappeared, abandoning her armor and axe and leaving no trace of where she'd gone. And, in some strange events involving some leftover summoning magic, Ayuma's younger brother was accidently brought into the world of Melromarc. Maverick Saruwatari, as well as, his new companion, Shulu, quickly began aiding Alex, Naofumi, and all others in their search for their missing hero.
At this point, a month had passed by since Ayu vanished. She was headed to the nearest border to get away from everything. She couldn't handle the pressure of losing anyone else that she loved or cared for, so she didn't want to be the axe hero anymore. But before she could make it out of the country, she was suddenly transported to Fitoria's sanctuary. You know, she's the filolial queen who slayed that T-Rex dragon a while back. She began questioning Ayuma of her decisions to run away, and Ayuma just kept saying that she was done with being a hero. And seeing as she wasn't getting through to her at all, Fitoria would now try and kill Ayuma. However, Ayuma didn't want that either and fought back, but without her axe, she stood no chance against the Filolial queen. Even with the black angel wings, which she still had thanks to Sefira, she still felt like an ant facing off against a giant.
Ayuma was swiftly defeated and Fitoria had her swarm of filolials come in to eat her. However, Ayuma and Fitoria both had sudden changes in their hearts, and the filolials were called off. Fitoria spared Ayu's life in exchange for her allegiance to her. Ayume even agreed and at no better of a time. A monstrous creature, known as the Spirit Turtle, was on a rampage in a nearby country. And with its size being that of many mountains, and its power of destroying whole countries in one mighty blow, the time was nearing before this great beast came to Melromarc. And so, Fitoria passed on a piece of her own grand magic onto Ayuma, granting her even more incredible abilities and even changing her look. Her hair became golden, her wings turned from black to white, and a new white and golden armor appeared over her body. Ayuma, the filolial arc angel had been born, and her and Fitoria were off to face the Spirit Turtle.
And once they arrived on the scene, they quickly turned the tides against the absolutely humungous creature! Ayuma even reunited with her husband, Alex, as well as her party members, Naofumi's party, and even her brother and Shulu. It was an emotional reunion, but it had to wait as she did battle with the great spirit turtle. The turtle itself could regenerate from any wound with enough time, so Ayu knew she couldn't put this thing down for good, or, at least without destroying its heart and core. She had to get inside the turtle to get to those though, so what did she do? Used her knew grand magic, made these massive golden wings appear and sliced off the turtles head! WOO!!!
And with the turtle now incapacitated, Ayuma and the allied forces ventured into the turtle, meeting L'arc, Glass, and Therese along the way. You know, they're the heroes from the other world. Turns out, they were trying to slay the turtle as well as it threatens their home worlds too. So, an alliance was made, at least until the job was done, to kill this creature. They quickly found the heart after blasting their way through waves of enemies, and after a bit more searching, they discovered the core, and the real villain behind the turtle.
You see, a hero from Glass' world, was the one pulling the strings of the Spirit Turtle. His name was Kyo Ethnina, the Book Hero. Yes, I said Book. He'd linked himself with the turtle and was controlling it, hoping to use its destructive power to conquer both Melromarc and the world he was from. And so, a battle broke out, with everyone struggling to deal with Kyo. He made these tendril things appear which latched onto everyone, draining them of their magic energy. However, Ayuma used her near unlimited supply of magic to overload the tendrils and free herself. And then, she used her combination ability to merge both of her grand magics together, into something totally knew. Her whole body shone with a white light, even brighter than the sun, and with the simple raise of her hand, and pointing it at Kyo and the core, she spoke her ultimate spell. The Begone.
Ayuma was channeling so much magic energy that Alex even claimed that she could wipe out half the continent. Think of the Begone like the Hakai technique from Dragon Ball Super. It's essentially a delete button on anything the user points to. And in the blink of an eye, Kyo and the turtles core vanished. And with the heart being destroyed as well, the turtle began to die, falling apart on the scene with everyone making a narrow escape. However, upon making their grand escape from the belly of the beast, an enormous black light began to emerge and expand over Melromarc and into the surrounding countries. Everyone was swallowed up by it as a new threat emerged. Buuuuut, that's unfortunately where the story ends for now. Soon enough, we'll find out what happens next. Maybe. Probably..... meh..... yeah, sometime.
Well, with the story now over with, let's get to those feats we've been looking forward to. For her strength, there's a bunch we can calculate. And as seen in a previous rundown, the Cry one, he matched Todoroki, who could match Bakugo in strength, and Bakugo's strongest attack is well over 100 tons of TNT. And since Ayu drew with Todoroki, she's easily as strong as that.
But that was without the use of her axe. She's far more powerful when wielding it. And, in the final battle with Aidoneus, Ayuma actually took blood from Neela, who was in her demon form, and absorbed it into her axe, allowing her to use the demon axe form once again. However, with Sefira dead, Ayuma had total control and only gained her dark armor. Still the power increase is absolutely absurd. She's easily on par with Sefira in this form, and the demon was said to have the power to wipe out all of the Call Mira islands in one shot.
These islands are based off the Hawaiian Islands and have an area of roughly 28,300 km squared. To blow away that much land in just one shot, Ayuma would need to strike with over 759 Teratons of TNT!!! That's 759,000 Gigatons!!
Child's play. Remember when she combined her two grand magics? Alex claimed she could destroy half the continent with the Begone, and seeing how effortlessly she wiped out a hero and the incredibly durable core of the spirit turtle, it's safe to say she is capable of this. Now, given the style of castles we see in the Shield Hero series, it's easy to say that Melromarc is based on Europe. So, we can assume that Ayuma's greatest showing of strength is capable of annihilating half of all Europe.
Get ready everyone, cause this is a big number. Europe has a total area of nearly 10.2 million kilometres squared. To destroy half of this, you'd need over 5 billion gigatons of TNT!! To be precise, Ayuma would be hitting with 5.34 Exatons of TNT!!! WTF!!?? Holy shit!!!
She's truly capable of slaying pretty much anything she wants, but how fast is she? Well, to find out her max speed, we must look at her in her demonic dark armored form. As it's compared to Sefira herself, we can scale the two together. Sefira traveled to the islands of Cal Mira from Melromarc in just a 7 hours, which took everyone else nearly 2 days to arrive. This makes Sefira nearly 7 times faster than the speed at which the heroes travelled. Xev, the one who was propelling the ship they were travelling on, claimed they were going well over 300 MPH, so this makes Ayuma's top speed 2100 Miles Per Hour. That's nearly 3 times the speed of freakin' sound!
Damn, that's fast. It's no wonder why she's said to be the strongest of all the heroes ever! But how much damage can she take? Well, to figure that out, we have to look at the spirit turtle. This thing could obliterate entire countries in one go, and since Melromarc was next on its hit list, we'll look at the kingdom and figure out its real world counterpart. And looking at the map that was shown above, we can determine, by the shape of the country and where the sea meets it at the bottom, that this is either based on Spain or France. And since we're looking at these characters at their maximum, this means we'll assume it's the larger of the two countries, this being France, which is over 600,000 kilometres squared.
We've actually covered this same feat before, with the Tetsa rundown. She could also withstand an attack that could destroy all of France. And given it's area and volume, we have determined that this level of power comes out to over 230 Petatons of TNT! And since Ayuma took this level attack from the turtle and lived, she's more than capable of proving this feat right.
What the actual fuck? Who created this chick!? She's sssssssooooooooooooo OP!!!
Indeed she is, and thus is how she's acquired the title of "The Greatest Hero." And just look at what she's accomplished in her time as the axe hero.
Feats:
-Survived a full week of torture(Dismemberment, gouging, drowning, whipping, etc.)
-Withstood the energy beam of the Spirit Turtle
-Withstood the torment and pain of Sefira's control
-Can channel enough energy to destroy half the continent
-Defeated: Ren, Motoyasu, the Zombie Dragon, Glass, the Pope, Todoroki, Sefira, Aidoneus
How Ayuma isn't dead just from her time being tortured is beyond me, but it just proves that it takes quite a lot to put this girl down. No matter who you are, you will know her name. She is Ayuma Saruwatari, the Axe Hero, princess of Melromarc, and the greatest of all heroes. And she is ready for battle!
"I am one of the five cardinal heroes who was summoned to defend this world! I AM THE AXE HERO!! AND YOU.... ARE..... HISTORY!!!!!" Ayuma to Sefira (The 5th Hero)
