~With Hideo~

I had flowers ready for Mayu and I got there just in time, but I saw something that I was dreading to see.

Mayu Iwatani, my crush, my longtime friend since we were kids, was kissing Kai, right in front of me.

I felt my little heart break into a million pieces and I really thought I could tell her how I really felt about her after all this time, but I was too late.

~With Masami~

I was really happy for Mayu and Kai, just seeing these two just be happy for one another, but behind them, I saw Hideo, looking heartbroken.

Instead of staying, he dropped the flowers and walked away, looking visibly upset and I had to go after him.

I patted Kaori's shoulder, letting her know that I was gonna be right back, and I followed Hideo outside as I saw him sitting on the stairs, head down, arms crossed, and just crying so loudly.

Me: ああ、秀夫ちゃん。 (Oh my gods, Hideo-chan.)

I immediately sat down and hugged him tightly as Hideo just cried. I even heard a whimper out of him, and that told me he deeply loved Mayu and really wanted her since the beginning.

I never heard Hideo cry like this, and it was so heartbreaking, especially when he loved Mayu for so long.

They were childhood friends, inseparable, hell, her own family adopted him after his mother died and his father went to jail for his mom's murder, and not to mention that Mayu was always in Hideo's corner whenever he needed something, so how hard is it to understand that he yearned for Mayu after all this time?

Then, he told me this...

Hideo (voice cracking): まさみちゃん。あなたがかいちゃんを見るときの目を見ればわかります。わかっています。あなたは私の親友です。 (Masami-chan. I see it in your eyes when you see Kai-chan. I know. You're my best friend.)

We heard giggling and it turned out that Kai and Mayu were both coming out of the building and having fun, but Mayu stopped and was curious.

Hideo, being upset, stood up to her.

Hideo: まゆちゃん、彼氏と楽しんでね。私を傷つけてくれてありがとう。 (Have fun with your boyfriend, Mayu-chan, and thanks for hurting me.)

Mayu: 何？秀雄ちゃん、僕は... (What? Hideo-chan, I—)

Me: ここから出て行け。君は彼を十分傷つけた。 (Get outta here. You hurt him well enough.)

She then looked upset herself and walked away with Kai as I sat back down with Hideo as he continued to cry, while I wrapped my arm around his own and held his hand with both of my own.

I knew what Hideo was talking about because I'm in love with Kai too, so to comfort him, I said this, with a tear coming down my face...

Me: これです。こんな感じです。 (It's this. This is how it feels.)
