~Story~

Growing up in the Fire Nation hasn't been easy for Jinhai. He was forced to be a member of their country after being disowned by the Fire Nation. His father was a soldier, but he died. His mother was killed when he was 8. Jinhai wanted out so ran away from the FN and went to the South Pole.

There, he saw a tribe that was blue, but Jinhai never knew there would be a village there.

When he walked in there, many of the people were shocked as a man had Jinhai down on his knees.

"Why are you here! WHO ARE YOU!"

"My name's Jinhai. I need a place to live."

"We don't house anyone who's possibly the enemy."

"No!"

He hears a girls' voice and who came running was beautiful. She had her hair braided in circles on either side of her head, and a long ponytail. Jinhai smiled at her with gratefulness, but exactly as he did that, the man held me by the collar and was in his face!

"Why did you smile at my daughter! You should be kicked out right now!"

Jinhai was terrified, but another voice is heard.

"Let him go."

He and the man looked to a much older woman, who seemed to be the elder of the tribe. "Do you not see he doesn't mean any harm? Let him have a place to live."

"Nuh uh! No way! I don't trust this kid!"

A guy who looked like the braided girl and was a bit older than her as he also had a metal boomerang in his hand. He seemed interesting.

"Sokka, Katara, go to your mother."

"Let him stay. He only wants a place to live."

The man eventually leg go of Jinhai and stood him up. The braided girl grew a bit concerned, but Jinhai managed to stand. Everyone went to do their business as the old woman walked towards him, held his hands with a smile.

"Are you alright?"

"I'm fine, Mrs—."

"Please. Call me Gran-Gran."

"Okay."

"Welcome to the Southern Water Tribe. I'll have some of our men build a igloo for you. Please feel free to chat with our villagers."

"Thank you so much."

"And if there's anything you need, come to me, personally."

As Jinhai waited for his igloo to be built, the braided girl came over to see him.

"I'm sorry about my father. He's very paranoid."

"It's okay. I'm Jinhai. What's your name?"

"I'm Katara. My brother over there is Sokka. Don't mind him. He's just an idiot. Wanna be friends?"

"Sure!"

And when the igloo was built Jinhai moved in. Gran-Gran settled a sleeping bag and some clothes for him while he stayed as he was grateful for everything. So grateful in fact, he would give back to the tribe by fishing with the men until they had to leave Jinhai with Sokka because they had to go to war.

Before the men left, Katara and Sokka's father approached Jinhai with a couple weapons that he would use, not for defense, but for battle.

"Jinhai, after everything I thought about you, I apologize. I believe you have earned the right to have these."

The father gave the weapons to Jinhai as He left the tribe under Jinhai and Sokka's protection.

And that's when some trouble started between the two.

While Jinhai would have no problem working with Sokka, Katara's brother, he just would have a problem with his ego. Sokka would go on and on about how he's the best hunter in the tribe while Jinhai did all the work.

Whenever Sokka and Jinhai come back from hunting for fish for the tribe, Sokka would just take all the credit from Jinhai, making him feel like an afterthought. He would put up with it for at least 3 years until one day.

When Jinhai got back from fishing with Sokka, Sokka took his chance and told a lie.

"You can take it from me. If it weren't for me, you wouldn't have any fish."

Jinhai gasped and had an angry look on his face as Katara looked at him and felt bad, but feeling like he's had enough of the torment, Jinhai tackled Sokka and started beating his face to where he had to be pulled off by Katara and separated by the women.

"Get your head out of your butt, will ya!"

"You'll never be a member of our tribe! Just know that!"

"If you want me to go, fine! Let's see how long you'll last as the protector for this place, Mr. King of The World!"

Jinhai walked away to his igloo, seething, just ticked off that after everything he does for the tribe is recognized by an egomaniac.

"Jinhai?"

Katara called him out, but he didn't come out of the tent, but she heard commotion, causing her to run in and saw her friend in tears.

"Jinhai. Jinhai, it's okay. I'm here for you."

He looked up at her and kept crying. She held her best friend in her arms and shushed him softly.

"Just talk to me. I'm here."

She looked down at him as Jinhai got up and went out. He went to the ledge to look at the sunset. Feeling intense anger he threw some snow into the water before going back to his tent.

Early in the morning, when everyone was still asleep, he did everyone's chores by himself, mostly Katara's because he wanted someone to talk to alone. To see that she's the most understanding girl in the tribe, Katara had been someone Jinhai he looked up to since their childhood.

He went to the ledge to wait for her as he looks at the sunrise.
