it has definitely been a...rough year for imogen, no doubt about that. while she hadn't been all that thrilled with marrying off kora to a foreign adversary like valka that's characterized by their violent nature, if their princess was adamant in her decision to draw a bridge towards peace in the only way that seemed feasible, she had been willing to set her worries aside for a time and simply see what a future tied to valka would bring. she felt as if she could go back to elurra with at least a little lift in her chin, but then...death reared its ugly head. one after another, allies and enemies alike seemed to succumb to the sweet embrace of timelessness, welcoming the darkness behind lids that would open no more. every death seemed a harpoon shot straight through her chest, but although she'd been able to deflect almost all that were thrown her way, nothing could have prepared her for the death of neva. days spent toiling outside her liege's door trying to gain access, only for the door to be torn down and what she'd come to think of as her proxy mother lifeless. the news destroyed her, frankly. she became despondent, a husk of herself. eating became a chore, sleep something that felt a vague memory. the only thought that pushed her through were the people she cared most for. for the first time in her life, she felt as if people would grieve her passing. so she shook herself off, and began to try and function as she had previously. seeing as eldur had taken elurra's lands as their own at this point, imogen had to now build up her information networks from scratch. imogen may have been many things, possessed traits that she wasn't proud of, but she'd be damned if she wasn't informed. she engaged in hobbies to ease her mind's buzz, using gardening as a coping mechanism to bring life into her life in the face of death. she stuck fast to leighton's side, choosing to follow her wherever the wind may blow them. they'd become a package deal, truly. although, when hadn't they been? as for other relationships she held close to her...she wasn't too sure where she laid in those. the last she'd heard of ben, he'd been recovering steadily from the wounds he'd sustained, but she hadn't seen too much of him. which, of course, was her own sense of self-sabotage ruining her chances at a perfectly good partnership, but she was trying her best to restore what she'd lost. even remus managed to cross her mind from time to time, although they'd definitely left off on the wrong foot since last they met. if imogen knew how to do anything, it was to stick to familiarity. those of the crushed kingdom of elurra had to stick together...right? as for the person she's become despite all that's gone on...well, that's still left to be discovered.
