His father was working on a bestiary with pictures and samples of monsters he has encountered. Leading Matty to want to take his place. Yet many kids bullied him thinking him and his father eete crazy. But his father was captured by a evil half human half monster named Arlo who wants to use the book to summon the god of destruction and turn everyone into monsters leaving Matty always on the run.
