Mel
Name: Mel Plantkin
Age: 15
Gender: Cis male
Sexuality: Homosexual
Appearance:
He isn't the tallest, but he's up there. At 5'8", many people find him a bit intimidating with his piercing stare and rather sunken eyes.
Personality:
Mel is an outsider. He sits, and watches, and waits for life to pass by. He was never one for interacting with others, preferring to stay inside and study, or maybe practice a bit of magic when his parents weren't looking. This has lead to a detached and rather awkward way of life due to his impaired social skills. When talking to groups of individuals, Mel usually stays rather quiet. He often avoids eye-contact as well. He isn't bashful or shy at all; it is just difficult for him to join in on conversations, as he doesn't quite know what to say. This commonly causes him to say the wrong thing and possibly offend whomever he is around.
On the contrary, it doesn't take much for him to do your bidding. Mel is the kind of person that you would come to for a favor, or maybe a rushed errand. He is easily manipulated if you use the right words. He doesn't have the distinct morals to tell right from wrong. However, it's arduous to get him to pay attention. Mel usually daydreams whilst doing everyday tasks. More often than not, he collides into walls or misses a question someone has asked of him. These mishaps can trick others into believing that he is an incapable airhead, which he definitely is not. Although he cannot properly express his feelings through things other than written and verbal poetry, his struggle with words does not mean that he is unintelligent.
Last, but not least, Mel doesn't believe that he is an attractive human being. He puts himself down a lot as well, as he has begun to doubt his abilities due to the few individuals expressing their opinion on him. That is another reason why he prefers isolation to anything else.
Flaws:
- Self-esteem. If Mel hears a single sickening word on his appearance, he will probably be silent and unproductive for the rest of the day.
- Gullibility. Mel can be tricked into doing or believing almost anything. He's also very easy to blackmail, although it isn't too necessary.
- Impaired social skills. Ask him to talk to someone, and more often than not, he'll manage to mess up.
- Mel isn't very loyal. If you tell him a secret and someone asks him for it, he will tell them without much hesitation. You have to be extremely specific with him. He counts every word.
- He essentially has no morals, if you use the right words. 'Borrow' something? He'll do it. 'Help her out' with that knife? Consider it finished. (He won't go that far... Unless you do something worse.)
Strengths:
- His poetry is beautiful and can move almost any heart, if that counts. (Not really.)
- His magic is pretty okay. Not the most stable, but he can do a few things from at-home practice— using his mother's wand, of course.
- Since he usually watches others' actions, he can gain a basic understanding of them within around twenty minutes or so.
Backstory: He was born to the cliché perfect couple. His father may have been only a regular mortal, but his mother was a witch. At a young age, Mel had many accidental bursts of magic. As she had excelled in charms, his mother expected that he would as well. However, he didn't have enough magic to attract monsters until he was around ten. At that age, his mother allowed him to use her wand to do little things around the house, most of them accidental. Eventually, her protection and isolation from the real world (she insisted he be homeschooled) just wasn't enough, and he went to the academy at fifteen and a half.
Classes:
Wand choosing, house sorting, spells and charms, survival skills, charms crafting, potions, study of monsters— (what is a sub magic class?)
(I hope this will do)
