Rhys may not be the most strongly-built guy in the world but his confidence and height more than make up for it. He's not particularly scrawny and he can look pretty 'Cole Sprouse as Jughead' with the right attitude and clothes but despite this, his blue-green eyes and soft brown hair allow him to seem friendly, carefree and relaxed. Always donning a charming smile, Rhys is likeable among most people. The lax appearance comes partially due to a lack of interest in his outfits. Rhys puts on what he likes, but everything goes together well - almost effortless. He's the king of the 'I woke up like this' look: scruffy but smooth hair, clothes casual but complimentary, bright eyes amongst darker bags.

►WHAT'S YOUR TYPE? :

Rhys never seems to have any one particular type. He favours whoever he can make laugh or whoever truly cares about him. Being the kind guy that he is, Rhys' own feelings often get put aside (usually by him) as he focuses on others. But finding a girl who looks past this and actually cares what he thinks and feels is the most important thing in his book. Perhaps it's a little selfish but really, Rhys just wants to be loved.

► PERSONALITY :

There's not much more to say about Rhys that you can't get from a first impression; he wears his heart on his sleeve and can be read like a book. Although it's usually phrased as a weakness, the honesty and kindness conveyed by Rhys is genuinely charming and charismatic. It's the carefree, happy-go-lucky attitude that makes him difficult to faze. There's nothing that bothers him; he's been through a lot and he's learned to never assume that whatever hardships he faces now will continue forever.

Rhys feels like it's often his duty to lighten up the mood, to be the class clown - even if it's at his own expense. This was just how he grew up. In a large family where he was a middle child, Rhys had to be unique to be heard. And this came to him by way of humour. He'll do anything to make his brothers and his girlfriend in particular laugh. Rhys has an unending supply of love for his family, friends and girlfriend - unending and unconditional. He may not seem like the toughest guy around but like the strange superpower new parents get around their children, Rhys can become uncharacteristically bold and threatening when his loved ones are in danger or are hurt. And because of this stark contrast to his normal personality, Rhys catches most people by surprise; they listen to him.

► BACKSTORY :

Rhys grew up in a family lacking a lot of things; a lower-middle class income couldn't provide luxuries for five boys. The Carter family went through some difficult economic hardships when Rhys and his brothers were young but the problems never fazed the Carter boys. They lacked a working microwave but they never lacked spirit. The boys had each other's back and this network of support prevented his older siblings from committing to a dangerous path to earn quick money. It was the light attitude, open relationship and relaxed atmosphere created by the whole family that kept morale up and love constant for so many years.

Towards his late teenage years, things started to look up for his family once his mother got a promotion and his father got another job. Andrew and Sean, his two older brothers, got jobs to support their family, too. Although it was a placement job at university for Andrew, and a minimum wage gap year job for Sean, there was nothing the boys wanted more than to help provide for their family when their parents couldn't.

As the family started to improve upon from their lower class status to middle class, Rhys and his younger brother George didn't have to worry about struggling to gather funds for university.
