"Hey wake up."

"You have something important to do."

"Geez, wake up already."

"Kate!"

The young woman's eyes shot open as she took in a sharp inhale as she laid flat on her back. She didn't move from her place as she took in her surroundings. Kate was confused, she thought she had... died in the hospital with family beside her.

Kate sat up hold her head feeling a rush of pain pulsed through her head. She winced a bit, hearing the sound of birds singing their song as the flew over her. Kate watched the birds when her eyes shifted to the tall green leaved trees standing tall giving shade to the forest.

"What? Where am I?" She asked nobody she was alone.

Kate felt that she wasn't home well her home to be exact. She held her head. 'Wait, I died in the hospital I know I did. Then why am I still—

"Zero, look!" Kate's thought stopped when she heard small voice squeaked.

A baby rabbit hopped up to her. "It's a human girl! I never see a human before I thought they were extinct!" He said.

"What?" Kate was confused. A talking rabbit? Humans being extinct?

"Richie?" A voice called.

"Little brother? Where are you?"

"Why does he always have to run off?"

Two young rabbits and another little one popped out a bush and their eyes shifting quickly towards Kate. Kate bet they haven't seen a human before either since the little rabbit now she knows as 'Richie' told her humans are extinct.

"Guys look what I found! A human!" Richie hopped up and down in excitement.

Kate had to admit it was super cute watching him show his siblings what he found. It reminded Kate of her younger siblings she smiled.

"I never seen a human before. Papa talked about seeing humans when he was younger." One young rabbit said.

"Yeah, I thought Papa was making that up, like a story." The other said.

"Get serious, May. Papa never lies." The other baby rabbit exclaimed.

"Hey, you talk, don't ya. I'm Richie! It's cool to finally meet a human! It makes me so happy!" Richie jumped at her and Kate's eyes widened the little bunny turned into a young boy with rabbit ears and a tail.

He hugged her waist as Kate tensed up shocked from what just happened. His siblings gasped at this until a loud shrieking roar come from the deeper parts of the forest.

"Eek! It's the Cougar clan! Scram!"

"Come on, Richie!" One of his siblings exclaimed as he turn back into a small rabbit.

"On my way! You should get out of here too. These are Cougar clan's hunting grounds. Hope to see you again." Richie hopped away into a bush after his siblings.

"Wait, hold on! Who's the Cougar clan?" Kate called after him but he was already gone. 'I'm so going to die here.'

Another blood-curdling shriek of a roar rumbled throughout the forest as Kate scrambled about tripping over roots of the tall trees, cracking sticks and crushing leaves under bare feet.

She shivered in fear, feeling like she was being hunted by this Cougar clan Richie spoke of. It's odd and not normal for cougars or mountain lions to live in pride like family units like african lions and Kate knew that but it felt like there was more than one hunting her down.

Kate picked up her pace even though she would draw more attention to herself but she let her fear take over her senses and whatever was chasing her picked up the pace too.

"Shit!" She cursed under breath as her eyes widened in fear as whatever was chasing her was getting closer to her quickly.

Her breathing started to stutter as she panicked her ankle hurt badly she didn't move she felt like prey. Maybe she was.

Kate quickly decided to get up from the forest floor and make a run for it as she did so she limped as she ran and the shrieking roar scared her as she squeaked in horror. Kate closed her eyes when she felt an impact like something was taking her down like deer in the woods making her hit the dirt ground.

"A woman?" A clear semi-deep voice questioned.

Kate opened her eye and turned her head to the voice, her eyes widened seeing a large cougar with green eyes and a crow feather on a string attached to his fur. They stared at each other both curious about the other not know what the other's next move is.
