iPod Music

(Oops, it's angsty.)

"Last time," Elysia muttered. "Last. Fucking. Time." Tears rolled down her cheeks, never making it past her jaw before she angrily wiped them away. Red drag marks from her sweater littered her face. She slammed the door shut, internally daring any of her apartment neighbors to come at her right now.

She stumbled over to the couch, squeezing a pillow against her chest. The tears didn't stop, spilling over and driving her crazy. I shouldn't be crying over her! She's...she is not worth it.

She's not worth it.

With that thought in mind, Elysia stripped off her borrowed sweater, throwing it to the ground. It made a slight thunk as it hit the ground, drawing her attention and curiosity. What was that?

She picked the crumpled heap of fabric up, reaching into its pockets. She pulled out Tamarind's iPod. Elysia's mind screeched to a halt.

Really?

But she was bored, sad, and fed up. So she opened it, scrolling through Tamarind's many playlists. They had a variety of titles, ranging from "Punk Music" to "Sad Boi Hours". To her surprise, Elysia also saw one titled "My Darling Elysia<33"

What the heck?

Elysia opened the playlist, curious about what songs were saved under it.

I Kissed a Girl - Katy Perry

Church - Fall Out Boy

girls - girl in red

La Da Dee - Cody Simpson

A Million Dreams - Greatest Showman

Elysia felt a hard lump of angry emotions melt inside her. Maybe they had both been too quick to judge, to slow to see.

After all, she didn't get the full story, she just saw Tamarind in the corner with someone.

Elysia sighed, rubbing her forehead. I have a lot of regrets now. She dropped onto the couch, pulling up her phone to call her girlfriend.

"...Tamarind speaking."

"Hey," Elysia sighed. "Look, I'm sorry that I didn't-"

"Elysia? Oh my god! I am so sorry, I swear I didn't mean it! That boy just kinda dragged me into it! And I panicked, and-"

"I realized that," Elysia sniffed, trying not to cry. "I-if you want to come over-"

"I'll be over as soon as I can. And if it helps, that boy now has a black eye."

"I love you," Elysia laughed, feeling much better.

"Love you too. See you soon."

"See you."

Elysia hung up and leaned back into the couch. Her shoulders felt like she had shed a million pounds. She opened her phone again, going to the camera roll. The last picture was a selfie of her and Tamarind, the other girl with an arm sling around her girlfriend's shoulders and she gave the camera a peace sign. Elysia was laughing, her arm around Tamarind's waist.

Elysia smiled fondly, dropping the phone into her couch's cushions. She couldn't wait for Tamarind to arrive.
