Backstory: Samuel "Sam" Crawford was born to two loving parents. He spent most of his childhood with them and moved out when he was 18. During his first year of freedom, he was involved in a tragic car accident that took his life. When the paramedics arrived to remove his body, however, they couldn't find it. The accident was actually staged by M.E.C.H in order to get another test subject for their main project after their success with Taylor. Although he was brought back to life, the damage to his body was critical. It was the perfect opportunity for M.E.C.H to experiment with their technology.

Sam's limbs were removed and replaced with cybernetic attachments. In order to support all the new upgrades that required energon, Silas had his scientists install a spark. Once they learned more information from Starscream and the Decepticons, they began applying the necessary upgrades to make him function more smoothly.

However, they were unable to completely finish refining his systems when the Nemesis Prime project fell through (literally). He had been in storage up until that point, and with Silas presumably dead and Taylor nowhere to be found, they were desperate to keep the project alive. Sam was thus activated prematurely and sent after Taylor.

This premature activation would cause unforeseen consequences and problems later on. Since his systems weren't fully refined, Sam was susceptible to malfunctions and glitches that threw his entire body off balance. Taylor was actually able to subdue him during one of their fights because his mechanical parts glitched, which gave her time to talk to him. She was able to convince him that she could help. And so he joined the Autobots and found the family he never thought he would have again.

Special facts:

-Sam is not fond of physical contact, even after establishing trust with someone. He's okay with hugs, but will pull away if they last too long. Too much physical contact/unwanted touches can trigger a panic attack or cause him to lash out violently in defense.

-He suffers from PTSD and panic attacks that developed during his time with M.E.C.H.

-He often has nightmares and stays up late to keep his mind busy.

-If he knows you well enough, he may strike up a conversation. Other than that, he listens more than he talks.

-Despite his violent side, he is quite kind and soft-hearted. He will protect his friends with his life and do almost anything to help them if he can.

-He's especially gentle around kids since he's afraid of hurting them.

-His techno-organic upgrades allow him to basically do anything a super human could do (if they were real).

-He can shoot from the palms of his hands, as well as transform them into blades or clawed appendages that can be used for fighting or climbing.

-His audial fins work just like a Cybertronian's, able to pick up signals/transmissions as well as talk over a comm link.

-His optics provide him with sight that is 10x better than that of a normal human.

-His robotic legs give him enhanced speed, agility, and the ability to jump really high and far (vertically and horizontally).

-His robotic feet (and knees) have built-in shock absorbers, which allows him to jump from great heights and land without sustaining injuries.

-He requires weekly refuels of Energon. He has a spark and a heart, though the spark is only there to keep his mechanical parts up and running (like Taylor).

-He is more machine than man, which often makes him feel like he's some sort of twisted monster out of the movies.

-While he isn't a fan of kids, he tolerates the children at base. Jack is his favorite.

-His relationship with the Autobots is somewhat strange. He knows they're nothing like the Decepticons, but can't seem to completely trust them. He trusts Taylor, though, and if she trusts them, he can too.
