Yue Kaur was born on the 4th of August, the birthmark that was moon shaped was imprinted on her cheek, around her eye, and a crescent shape in her right eye.
Her mother, the Queen of Morning Dawn, played with the baby happily, holding the small hand in her larger one while her husband and her son watched the baby and mother. The son stared down at the baby, while his mother and father spoke to each other.
"What should we name her?" the mother spoke so sweetly while looking up at the father.
"I'm not sure…" he watched the baby look at him curiously, then giggling happily while reaching her hands towards. "Oh! What about Luna?"
"No, that's a terrible name for her. What about you, Ayumu?"
Both their heads turned to the son, Ayumu Khan.
"O-oh, uh…" he looked at the ground and started thinking. "Well, while Luna is a terrible name… why not give her a name that means moon… Yue would be good… It also means moon." He gave a small smile at the name while he looked at his parents proud smiles.
"Yue is such a good name! You're such a smart boy Ayumu!" She smiled happily then looked down at Yue and smiled sweetly. "Yue, I think you'll be a good child…"
-
Yue looked through the cracks of her parents door, she had heard them talking while passing by so she wanted to know what they were talking about.
But she didn't think she should've heard this at seven.
"I know you don't love Yue but please show her some love, even if it's fake." The mother spoke in a soft tone as she watched the father pace in the room.
"I will never love that child. Even if it is fake." Her father glared at the mother of Yue then looked away from her. "How can I love a child that is not my own blood even."
"I understand I cheated on you but-"
"Does it matter? You cheated on me with some man, pretended that this… thing! Was my child for so long!"
Yue wondered what her father meant, she was her daughter. What does he mean by 'not his blood'? What did it mean to be cheated on? Why was he calling her a 'thing'?
She heard somebody walk over to her and looked up to see her brother.
He let out a soft sigh and grabbed Yue by the hair before dragging her away from the door, hearing her cry from the pain. "Stop crying and eavesdropping already, it's annoying."
"Let… let me go Ayumu! It hurts! I want to ask what father is talking about!" She cried out as she tried to make him let go of his hair. Ayumu glared down at the small child then threw her onto the ground.
"I can tell you what he is talking about. He doesn't love you 'cause you're not his child." His voice sounded bitter. "Unlike you, I'm a child of our mother and father. You're only the child of or mother. She had slept with another man and had you."
He watched her starting to tear up from what he just said. "But… but I don't understand! I… I…" little hiccups came from her.
"What do you not understand? You're the child of another man that isn't my father. You shouldn't even be here, y'know? You're lucky mother still even loves you, but it's probably because of you being the next Moon Goddess. You shouldn't even be the next Moon Goddess." He let out a small huff then walked away from the small sobbing child.
-
Yue, at the age of eight, didn't know why she had to get her Grimoire so early. Seeing her mother disappointed in her hurts, she felt like throwing up at the words that her mother said to her father right in front of her.
"She's the next Moon Goddess! Why doesn't she have any spells that are offensive!?" She cried out and hid her face in the father's chest. "All Moon Goddesses are supposed to be warriors! Not have defensive and healing spells!"
"I'm sorry-" Yue spoke in a quiet tone before being cut off by her father.
"Silence!" His loud and angry voice made her flinch. Thinking he was going to hurt her, she took a step back. "You should've never been born as the next Moon Goddess! Why couldn't you have been like Ayumu!? Strong and a better warrior than you!"
"Go to your room Yue and think of what you did!"
Yue listened to her mother and went to her room. Closing the door behind her once she had entered the room she slid down and curled into a ball, her hands trembling as she tried to hold back her sobs.
What did she do wrong?
She only got a Grimoire, that's all.
Her spells aren't offensive
She's useless then, isn't she?
There's no need for her if she doesn't have any offensive spells.
She needs offensive spells or else she's not needed.
-
When Yue was fourteen, she was abandoned in the woods in the middle of the night by her mother. Her mother called it 'a camping trip to get yourself a useful spell'. It didn't work so she was forced to train until she passed out.
Yue wasn't allowed any friends either. So why did she think her mother would be merciful to her friend when she was fifteen.
She giggled quietly with her friend as she was helping her sneak outside the palace walls. Yue had been sneaking her inside for the past few months, they were from outside the palace walls so they both had to keep it a secret.
"Today was a good day, hopefully I can sneak you in again next week." Yue whispered, her tone excited to see her again.
She watched her friend nod excitedly, they followed the Moon Goddess to the garden as they giggled quietly while looking for the entrance. Until they came face to face with the Queen.
"What is the meaning of this Yue." She spoke in a cold tone to her daughter. She raised her hand and pointed at the person next to her. "Why is there somebody from outside of the palace walls, here, next to you? Is she your shield?" The mother's head moves to glare at the person from beyond the walls, her jewelry moving and making some noise.
Yue looked at the Queen in front of them in fear. "I-I can explain! Plea-" she was cut off by her friend when she stood in front of her.
"I'm Yue's friend! Not her shield!" Yue's friend glared at the Queen as she stood in front of her protectively
"Oh? Her friend? Correct?"
"Yes! I'm her frie-"
"Good, you can become an example of what happens."
Yue watched as her mother snapped her fingers and her friend catch on fire, being burned alive. Her eyes wide in horror while she heard her friend scream in pain, she quickly grabbed onto the Queen's arm and sobbed.
"WA-WAIT, STOP IT MUM! PLEASE STOP IT! SHE'S IN PAIN! PLEASE STOP, SHE'S STILL ALIVE-" She screamed before she got hit back onto the stone path, hearing the screams made her want to crawl into a ball. The smell of burning flesh made her want to throw up, she didn't want this at all.
Her head was forced to look at the burning body as she sobbed louder, trying to look away but the Queen kept making her watch the body burn for 2-3 hours.
Yue could only look at the ashes that was left. She couldn't scream anymore but the tears kept coming out. Her arms were trembling as the Queen let her go, but Yue couldn't do anything besides stare at the ash and cry silently.
"Now, what should we tell her parents Yue? That you decided to bring her inside the castle walls and she had to be burned alive because you didn't want to listen? That it was your fault? Hm?" The Queen watched Yue just stare at the ashes with wide and scared eyes.
Letting out a sigh, she notices Ayumu watching from afar and signals him to come to them.
"Ayumu, dear~" the Queen spoke to him in a soft voice, letting her touch his soft cheek while he stood still and stiff. "Take Yue back to her room and get some guards to clean up the mess then make sure everyone thinks that the child from outside these walls disappeared and we're doing our best to look for them."
Ayumu nodded while he took a steady breath before speaking, "yes mother." He grabbed Yue's arm gently and dragged her back to her room. He looked down at Yue and realized that she won't be the same after that.
He let out a shaky breath as he shoved Yue into her room and slammed the door shut before he walked off. He wished he could've at least saved that person but if he went against the Queen’s wishes then he would be in a lot of trouble.
Their mother was very scary.
-
Eighteen.
She was eighteen when the captain’s chose who they wanted in their squad, everyone was chosen into such amazing squads. Squads that can make her mother so proud of her!
So why did she have to join Black Bulls?
“I can’t believe you’re in a squad that is so disgusting. Ayumu got into Silver Eagles, why couldn’t you join a squad better? Like Golden Dawn? Is you and he that different?” Her mother sounded so disappointed. She wanted her child to be the best after all. Yue wasn’t the best, she was the worst.
“I’m sorry mother… I’ll… I’ll do my best if… if you give me one more chance…” Yue noticed her tone sounding so scared, speaking in such a soft and quiet tone. Staring at the ground almost emotionlessly. “I… I can make you proud… please… please give me one more chance…”
Her mother stared down at her. Before bringing a hand to tilt her face up to make Yue look up at her. “Can you make me proud? Can you truly make me proud?”
Yue watched her mother, eyes glistening in hope before she spoke up. “Yes… yes, I can make you proud. Please… please just give me-”
A loud slap echoed through the air.
“How insolent of you, begging me for one more chance to make me proud. You already know I gave you so many chances to be the perfect goddess! I do not need to give you another chance in anything!”
Yue brought a hand up to where she could feel the sting of the slap. Staring at the ground, shocked and confused as she listened to the Queen’s words that came out of her mouth.
“You were already a disappointment when you were born but now I realize you’re actually a failure. I can’t believe your father had to die for you. I even taught you to stop your stutter and yet you keep doing it! I can’t believe I raised somebody like you.”
She watched her mother walk away, leaving her all alone in the cold and to process her words.
Her chest felt tight and her eyes started to water up.
She didn’t want to cry though, she bit her lip harsh enough that it started to bleed. The tight feeling in her chest was still there. Yue wanted it gone so badly, she didn’t want to cry, it would make her mother disappointed.
Her mother’s love was a lie all along.
All she wanted is her mother’s love and her to be proud.
But now she can’t get any of that.
She’s a failure.
