A frown settled on your face as you stood at the entrance of the school. In front of you was a brand new school that was modern looking and it looked intimidating. Everything just felt wrong and you were nervous as hell.
Your mom just remarried and decided for you and her to go live in a new city. Sure, your new step dad was the nicest person in this world but facing a new change? You didn't like it one bit but you've never seen a happy smile on your mom's face full of love. You just had to suck it up since it was you felt like your mother hadn't been the same since your father passed. Saying goodbye to the town and to your friends was hard. It was everything you've ever known.
Classes had started about two hours earlier and now you were alone at the gate. After pressing a button on the wall (the school also looked rich), you could see a security guard walking towards you.
"How can I help you?" He asked.
"Um," You began. I'm a new student here and-"
He only nodded, interrupting your sentence. Must have noticed your fresh uniform. "Ah, alright." He opened the gate with a click of the button. "The office is just straight ahead and to your left. You should see a sign. Good luck." He pointed in the direction.
"Ok, thank you." You replied. You started off towards the direction, rubbing your hands on your skirt. Yes, this school was prestigious about uniforms. Your step dad also knew the principal here so that meant this rich school was affordable. As you walked towards the office, there were a couple of students loitering the halls and expressed interest at the new student. You ignored their stares and went into the office.
The receptionist looked up from her computer. "Oh hello! Are you the new student?"
You nodded, feeling very nervous. If you spoke right now, you'll probably sound like a frog.
She smiled at you. "Alright, hey, Bruce? Could you grab a copy of the map?" She called out and began shifting through papers. A man from the back came up front, handed her the paper and disappeared once more. She gave you a map of the school, a slip of paper and a paper of your schedule. "Here's your schedule and a map. This slip is to let the current teacher know you're new and to excuse you." She gestured to the small, pink slip. "If you need anything else, don't hesitate to come back."
"Alright. thank you." You smiled and left the office. You took a look at your schedule. Your one class had the number of A-1. Taking a look at the map, you realized your class was on the third floor.
Looks like you were getting exercise for 5 days a week. How fun...
Finding the stairs, you went up three flights. As you walked through the hall, you spotted your class number. Quickly you stuffed the papers in your bag and took a shaky breath. First introductions weren't the best thing for you. Being polite, you knocked on the door, faintly hearing the teacher stop talking, and you opened the door.
Already you could feel all their eyes staring at you. It made you feel highly aware as to what you were doing. If you messed up this moment, the window looked tempting to jump out of. You handed the teacher your slip. The teacher smiled back and grabbed it. "Ok class, looks like you have a new student. Why don't you introduce yourself?"
And now the spotlight was all yours. With all the courage you had, you faced the class. You did not like their gazes on you. Almost as if you were a bug under a microscope. "H-Hello." You cursed at yourself for stuttering. "My name is Park Y/N. Nice to meet you." You smiled a bit. Maybe it eased the nervous look off your face but you're not really sure.
"Thank you." Your teacher said and then pointed towards the back of the room. "There's a seat in the back right there."
You noticed the only empty desk that was at the way back and sort of in the middle of the classroom. Just like two rows in. You quickly went to your seat and sat down. There were a few people smiling at you and mostly everyone faced forward. At least some people were nice.
Silently, you took out your notebook and a pencil, opening it up to a blank page. Though, you felt someone still staring at you. You glanced in that direction only to see no one looking at you. Gosh, you really were paranoid. Or maybe you did something that you were unaware of? Agh, that was probably it. Here's to a new year with new friends. Hopefully.
