Nice And Sweet

"(Y/N)! Wait up"

You quickly stepped to the less occupied space in the hall as you waited for your friend to catch up. It took a second, but Hiro finally managed to walk up to you mildly panting for air.

"How... How do you always leave so early!?" the ravenette huffed as she slowly walked side by side with the (H/C) girl, "I've spent like- twenty minutes looking around the dorms for you!"

"You always sleep in, Hiro." You chuckled, "I don't exactly wanna risk being late to my classes."

You looked (Up/at/down to) Hiro with a lighthearted teasing glint in your (E/C) eyes. Hiro was one of the first students in Wildwood Academy who openly welcomed you. It took a little bit, but the two became almost inseparable. One thing you would always remember was Hiro's bright golden eyes that contrasted her usual dark look.

Hiro huffed once again and crossed her arms, looking at (Y/N) with a proud smug, "Well, I just so happened to wake up early this morning!"

"Any reason why?" You wondered. It was rare for your friend to wake up earlier than she should unless she was motivated by something. The last time you remembered Hiro waking up early was when the school announced the day prior that some sort of prize will be rewarded for the first hundred students who checked in with the dean. Unfortunately, Hiro didn't make it for that.

Hiro's deep black, wavy short hair bobbed up and down as her step suddenly quickened, "You heard of the new students coming in today?"

"No?"

"Eh?" Hiro quirked an eyebrow, "Literally everyone won't shut up about them! Last week, my science group would only talk about who they might be or what they could look like. I couldn't get them to change the subject!"

You simply hummed in response, keeping your gaze ahead. Hiro's little rant did spark a few faint memories of some of your classmates mentioning a few new faces that will be introduced to the school, but you usually tuned them out.

"I don't see why everyone is so..." You gave a few lazy hand movements as you paused for a word, "Interested about them. We get new students all the time."

"Well, one of them is said to be the son of a family friend of the dean." Hiro said, "So when that info got out, some of the others here got curious about the others. One rumor led to another and now we're here." Hiro sighed.

You gave another hum in response.

"You want me to shut up about them, huh?"

"Yes," You chuckled, "Yes I do. Besides, I doubt we'll see that much of them anyway."

"Maybe, who knows," Hiro smirked as she leaned toward her friend.

"Anyway, you headed to Mr. Munter, right?" Hiro asked as her finger pointed in the direction of one of the school's art teachers.

You nodded.

"Cool! Mr. Row's room is close by, so I'll walk you there."

As Hiro said, the two made their way through the marble halls of the school over to Mr. Munter's art class.

"This is me," You turned to face Hiro, "Try not to get into any trouble, 'kay?"

Hiro stuck the tip of her tongue out, "No promises." She then smiled and pointed a lazy finger gun over to the (H/C) girl, "Lemme know if you need anything!" She hummed as she sped-walked over to her class.

You chuckled and finally headed inside the art room. You skimmed over the area only to find a few others already waiting in their seats, and Mr. Munter typing away on his desk. You eventually found an empty table and set out a sketchbook and a few pencils, and your phone to pass the time. The bell rung soon after.

Mr. Munter soon stood from his desk and presented himself before the class. It wasn't long before whispers flowed throughout the class. Curious, you brought your head back up and spotted two guys standing to Mr. Munter's right.

"You two, introduce yourselves and find a seat. Try to make it quick." Mr. Munter dryly said as he headed back to his desk and pulled open a few drawers.

The guy closest to Mr. Munter took a step forward. As he did, the entire class silenced themselves. The boy took a deep breath and clasped his hands together in front of his lap with his ringed fingers intertwined.

"Hello," his voice was soft and sweet, "My name is Loid Viscid. Thank you all for welcoming me here!"

As he finished, his golden eyes darted around the room and landed at the table you sat in.

As Loid sped over to his chosen seat, the boy that was next to him took a step forward, "I'm Solomon." He simply stated before finding an unoccupied seat at the table next to Loid's and yours.

'So much for not seeing them', you thought to yourself.

Mr. Munter returned to the front of the class and set out a few objects on the front table, laying them all out in separate positions, "For today's warm-up, we'll work on perspective." He said, "Pick an object or two and sketch them all in different angles." He then waved everyone off and headed back to his desk.

It didn't take long for everyone to get to work. Of course, plenty of students ignored their task and immediately went over to interact with the two new faces.

Solomon overall ignored everyone's attempts at small talk and solely focused on what he was set to do. Loid, though seemingly uncomfortable, answered most of their questions and gave short responses.

You wanted to disperse the crowd somehow but honestly didn't know how to without coming off as rude or mean. Loid managed to catch your sorry stare and gave you a gentle, closed-eyed smile.

"That's enough. Get back to work." Mr. Munter grumbled. Luckily it did the trick and everyone - Though begrudgingly - went back to their respective seats. It didn't stop the constant whispering though.

You sighed through your nose and simply continued your work. You were so focused on the paper in front of you, that you didn't notice someone scooting ever closer to you.

"A bit dry for an art teacher, huh?" Loid whispered with a small huff of laughter.

Your skin jumped just the tiniest bit at the sudden closeness of his voice. He seemed to notice your little scare, as his eyebrows creased upwards and he brought his hands up slightly to his chest in a surrendering position.

"Oh- sorry!" He yelled in a whisper, "Didn't mean to scare you."

You hummed a bit in response and gave him a weak smile, "It's fine," you said, "and yeah, Mr. Munter's always been like that." You responded to his earlier statement, "He's the least liked art teacher here, and luckily, I've been stuck with him for the past two years." You gave a dry chortle.

"Oh, you're a junior?"

You nodded, "What year are you anyway?"

"I'm a sophomore." His smile twitched a bit as his cheeks tinted the slightest shade of pink.

"Oh, yeah?" You hummed, "I honestly thought you were the same year as me."

"Really?" His voice rose a slight octave and his brows shot up, "Everyone always assumes I'm way younger than I am." He gave a weak huff as his hand reached for the back of his neck.

"I get confused with people's ages all the time, so..." Honestly, everyone just looked the same to you, save for the few people you were close with.

He hummed and your table was quiet again. You were honestly surprised at how much you managed to speak with Loid when you only really knew him for like- what, twenty minutes? Usually, when someone tries small talk with you, it just ends after two or three sentences are exchanged. But with Loid, you'd like to think you had a pretty decent conversation. You guess a big reason was due to how much more comfortable he seemed when talking to only you. Did he not like crowds? You weren't a fan either so you don't blame him if that was it.

When you two were talking, you couldn't help but take note of his appearance, even if you might forget it later. His eyes were gold in color, like Hiro's. But when Hiro's eyes held the energy of lightning and the brightness of the sun, Loids was a lot more calming and sweet, like butterscotch or honey. His cheeks were sunkissed and had a beauty mark under his right eye. He had dusty brown hair with the right side of his bangs dyed a dull pink color. The left side of his bangs was tied back with a beaded hair tie which made a small puff of brown hair on the top of his head.

Overall he appeared nice and sweet, which made you feel at ease. It isn't rare that you encounter a stuck-up kid who thought that being a student here was like winning an Oscar. I mean, you're here, right? You're not rich, nor do you hold any specialty to your name.

As your mind raced with Loid, you couldn't help but wonder about Solomon. He seemed very different compared to Loid. Not as welcoming at least. You might try to satisfy your slight curiosity about the black-haired male, but if he wanted to be alone you'll respect him.

Anyway, class passed by fairly quickly. It usually did, as Mr. Munter usually gave you free rein after the warm-ups he would give (as long as it was art related). You and Loid would occasionally bring back conversation. He was nice to talk to actually. He seemed to genuinely listen whenever you accidentally run your mouth off when the topic changed to whatever you were passionate about, and he also didn't seem to mind when you would get quieter and move to a more listening mode. The silences between you two were also nice.

Other students also tried to talk to him again, but at least they didn't come crowding around him. But he still gave short responses to them.

For once in a long time, the school bell startled you. You lost track of time and you stumbled for your things as soon as you heard the first ring.

"Are you usually this jumpy?" Loid asked with a light-hearted smile.

You gave a small huff of laughter in response, "Sorry. I guess I've just been in my head lately."

He hummed and nodded his head.

It wasn't long before the class was empty, with only Loid, Solomon, and you left. Solomon had all his things gathered, but he was still sitting in his seat, his head held up by his palm as he looked at Loid.

You shrugged it off. Maybe they knew each other before coming here? Who knows. You finally had your things gathered and looked one last time at Loid, who was still taking his time in putting away his belongings.

"It was nice meeting you." You start to make your way to your next class but was stopped by a sudden voice.

"I don't think I ever got your name?" Loid asked hurriedly.

"Oh, sorry!" You chuckle, "It's (Y/N) (L/N)."

Those were your last words to him before you left. Loid stood still as he stared at where you once stood.

'She seemed nice', he thought. Ever since he stepped foot on the school grounds, he's been bombarded with questions from crowds of other students. To say he was a bit overwhelmed by it all was a bit of an understatement. But you didn't seem to care. You just talked and acted like he was your equal. The air around you seemed kind and calm. He wanted to surround himself with your presence. It made him feel so peaceful.

"Loid." Solomon snapped his fingers in front of Loid's face.

Loid shook his head as his thoughts suddenly vanished. His thought process kinda confused him. Why was he getting this attached to you when only knowing you for a little over an hour? He eventually shrugged it off, blaming it on the chaotic morning he had to start the day off.

"Sorry about that, Keeps."

Solomon sighed through his nose and looked at where Loid was so focused for the past two minutes. Loid seemed to like you, so Solomon was somewhat glad his childhood friend found someone he can be comfortable with. But it was still their first day so he can't get too hopeful.

"Let's go," Solomon gently pushed Loid out of the now empty room, "We'll be late for next period."

Loid nodded with a small smile.

Art might end up being his favorite subject now.
