What did Brendon mean I should know what he wants?? I only met the guy...what? Three days ago? And he acts like I've known him for years.

I finished my shift at the coffee shop quickly and cleaned up with Spenc before rushing home despite my friend's words of concern.

I locked all my doors and windows before hiding under my blankets like a scared child. That guy was crazy and there is no way in hell he is getting in here.

My hands shook as I took my phone out for some light. The harsh light made me flinch. I slid my finger across the device, unlocking it and opening messages.

Spencer's name was at the top of the list. I clicked his name and instantly began typing.

D: I'm freaking out

S: what's wrong???

D: some guy is freaking me out

S: who?

I didn't reply. Should I tell him about Brendon? What if he gets involved with all this shit? I don't want him getting hurt.

S: dal?????

I shut my phone off and tried not to hyperventilate under the thick blankets. The lack of air was horribly suffocating along with it being hot enough to cook something.

I escaped the stuffy blankets and gasped harshly, taking in the sweet cold air.

" Hello Dallon. "

I froze, the world froze, I could swear to you that even my heart froze. A scream found its way to my throat but just as is scratched at my esophogas and began to escape, a hand slapped down over my mouth.

" Don't. Scream. " Brendon growled.

His eyes were glowing under the faint moonlight that slid through my window and illuminated my apartment.

I should be resisting. Why am I not resisting?? I began to kick and punch at the man. I screamed despite his hand covering up the sound and tears found their way down my cheeks.

Brendon seemed unfazed by my actions. Every kick sent into his side didn't even seem to pain the man...if you could even call him a man.

He more resembled a monster as his lips spread into a smirk and his eyes turned dark as I struggled.

" If you promise not to scream I'll let you go, " Brendon murmured softly.

Of course I nodded.

He let me go and I ran to the other side of my apartment. I climbed up onto my kitchen counter and grabbed a dirty knife from this morning's breakfast disaster.

Brendon chided my behavior with a smirk.

" Now now Dal... "

" Don't call me that, " I growled at him.

He grinned.

" So ferocious! What would you like to be called then? " he asked.

" I'd like it if you get the fuck out of my house before I call the police! "

" Now why would you do that? When they show up I'd be gone and you, my dear, would look crazy. What would you even say to them? A man broke into my house even though everything was locked? There's no evidence. "

" You're not human, " I stuttered out, fear hiding in my voice.

" Ah...you've noticed then, " he murmured.

He stepped closer to the counter and I held the knife tighter.

" D-Don't come any closer! "

" You're gonna hurt yourself, " he murmured, reaching towards my hand gripping the knife.

I went to stab the knife towards his hand but instead of contact with his arm, I felt a sharp pain in my arm.

I screamed, " What the fuck! "

Blood dripped down my arm and Brendon looked at me with hungry eyes.

" I told you... " he grabbed my arm and squeezed it until the pain got to me and I dropped the knife.

He brought my shaking arm up to hip lips and licked the blood up. I shuddered at the disgusting feeling and looked away from him.

When I looked back, my arm looked like it had never been cut aside from a thin white line that was nearly invisible.

I stared at the...thing...in front of me in horror yet amazement.

" What are you? " I asked curiously.

He grinned, a glint in his eyes as he stared at me.

" Why don't you come find out? " he said before dissapearing into thin air once more.

Once he was finally gone and my heart rate had gone down a bit, I rushed to my computer and began to type in a description of whatever monster was just messing with me.

I typed in, ' demons in the form of humans ' and clicked the first link.

I began to read aloud to myself.

" Demons are creatures that inhabit the depths of hell. Though demons usually cannot simply ' take human form ' without some type of posession, higher level or lead demons can hide their features such as black or red eyes, claws, and horns at will.

The reason behind this is, higher level demons already look mostly human since they were once human and are usually turned into demons by Lucifer.

Since they were once human they can blend into society very well and can even be people you meet in your own life. Subtle differences you might notice between these demons and humans are outbursts of emotion where their eyes or teeth may change from a normal human like look back into their demon features for a split second.

Another difference would be that demons can easily seduce humans, even ones they've only just met, by one look or touch. "

I stopped reading. My stomach churned and my head span as thoughts barreled through my mind.

A demon...

Really?

He can't be a demon right? I mean, heaven and hell aren't real how could he be a demon?

My body shook as I stumbled to my bed without even closing the computer. I crawled into bed and stared at my ceiling, unable to sleep as images of Brendon flashed through my head.

I lay there, my eyes wide open for hours until finally, I fell asleep and was left to my nightmares that plauged me every night.
