I stared out at the soft rolling hills, surrounding a small clearing filled with dandelions. Oh dandelions...so beautiful despite being a weed that simply turns into a spore at the end of its life and gets kicked away into the wind by small children, ready to find a new place to plant themselves and choke the lives out of other plants living near by.

The soft yellow color filled my mind with a calming sense of happiness. I stared down at my hands, the black blood caused by falling while climbing a fence today contrasting greatly to the green and yellow surrounding me.

" Who am I? " I asked myself under my breath.

The blood drips down my hands and lands on a yellow petal of a dandelion. It seems to engulf the small flower and turn it into some amalgamation of its former self. The petals turn black and thorns grow out of the fleshy stem.

" You're a demon Dallon...and that's all you'll ever be " his voice replies.

That's...when I woke up.

-

A beeping sound startled me awake. Ah...alarm clock. I have work today...

I ignored my strange reoccurring dream and sat up, getting ready for my monotonous coffee shop job. I slipped on some clothes and threw my apron over my shoulder before escaping my stuffy apartment.

The fresh air hit me as I stepped out the apartment building and into the cold fall rain. Small droplets sunk into my skin and dissolved almost instantly. Halloween was right around the corner and people were already getting ready for the festive day.

Pumpkins lay on people's doorsteps and decorations covered every yard. Kids were already dressing up and running around and adults were buying candy left and right.

I walked towards the corner coffee shop, going into the warm and welcoming room and stepping behind the counter. I put my apron on and cracked my knuckles.

" Hey Spenc...how's it going? " I murmured to my fellow coworker who was currently making a latte for someone.

" Pretty good Dal! Haven't seen you in a while "

" Vacation " I lied through my teeth.

Of course I hadn't gone on vacation...instead I had gotten someone to cover my shifts for a week while I tried to mentally recover from an anxious episode. But Spencer didn't need to know that...he worries enough about me already.

" Dude...sick, " he replied happily.

He placed the latte on the counter and called out a persons name.

" Well I guess I'll take over the register for now " I mumbled before going over to the computer and putting my work ID in.

A strange man came in the shop and glanced around. He came towards the register and a pang of familiarity struck deep within me.

" Just a back coffee to match my soul please " the man said in a sultry voice.

Even his voice sounded familiar though this was the first time I had ever seen the guy in my life. I replied in affirmation and wrote his order on a cup.

" And what's your name? " I asked in a peppy voice.

" Brendon... " he replied as if I should already know that...but why would I know his name?

I nodded and told him the price before ringing him up and sending the order off to Spencer.

" One large black coffee " I shot to Spenc who immediatly started on the order.

Once it was done I called out Brendon's name and watched him approach me. He smiled and took the coffee gently, almost as if he was trying to not touch me.

I watched the strange man escape the coffee shop, a glint in his eyes that was so familiar to me.

" Dude stop eye fucking the customers " Spencer said with a laugh.

A blush crept onto my cheeks as I turned to glare at my laughing friend.

" Oh shut it Spenc! You do it too! "

" Oh! So you admit that you were eye fucking him! " he said, continuing to laugh.

The blush got darker, " I never said that!! "

Spencer rolled his eyes at me.

" Whatever you say Dal "

-

I continued on with my shift until it was time to close the shop. Spencer had left not too long ago so I was able to close the shop quietly and peacefully.

The sun had barely set and the dim glow of street lights illuminated the area. I left the shop, locking the door and setting forward on my path home.

Leaves blew in the wind at me and children laughed as they ran past. Fall is always such a wonderful season, full of life despite the death surrounding each plant.

I approached my apartment building and climbed up to my little sactuary, unlocking the door before throwing myself onto the bed that took up a great deal of my studio apartment.

Another successful day! Even though I saw so many faces today, the features of that guy Brendon just stood out to me.

What is it about that guy thats so impossible to get out of my mind? I mean, yeah hes hotter than the sun but there has to be something else...

Maybe its the way his every word was like a drop of seduction leaving his lips.

Maybe it was the way he walked, as if no one else exsisted besides him.

Maybe it was his outstanding aura of intensity that was like no other in this small town of boring people.

Well...whatever it was...I'll probably never see him again right? So why does it even matter to me?

No matter how much I tried to get that beautiful face out of my head it stayed with me all night and even crept into my dreams as my eyes slipped shut at the close of another day.
