Part 3: Beneath The Surface

Amethyst's POV

As the last slice of the "Gemini Love Pizza" disappeared from Y/N's plate, a knot tightened in my chest. I had imagined this moment countless times, each one more perfect than the last. But here we were, and I couldn't shake the feeling that I had ruined everything.

Y/N was oblivious, his laughter echoing off the boardwalk, while I trailed behind him, clutching the cheeseburger plushie like a lifeline.

My gaze drifted to him, a bittersweet smile dancing on his lips as he marveled at the vibrant lights around us.

I wanted so badly for him to see me as more than just his goofy best friend, yet the reality hung heavy in the air. Pearl and Garnet could easily steal his heart away, and the thought ignited a fire of anger and desperation within me.

Even if their intentions were innocent and they were just interested in getting closer to him..it hurt me because with how simple it sounds they could.

Why can't he see me?

I let my feelings swirl around like the tide crashing against the shore. I had tried the cliché, the normal romantic gestures, but nothing had worked. I was tired of feeling like I was stuck in the shadows, so it was time to change my approach.

The pulse of my gem thrummed in response to my growing determination. I inhaled deeply, feeling the rhythm in my bones. This was it. If I couldn't capture his attention through sweetness, I'd make him notice me in my own way. I took a step forward, my heart racing, and before I knew it, I burst into song.

---

The world around me faded as I stepped into my own rhythm, heart racing with every beat. The cheeseburger plushie swung from my hand, a symbol of the innocent fun we shared. It was time to show Y/N just how much he meant to me.

---

"We are the crowd, we're c-comin' out."
I twirled, arms outstretched, feeling the magic of the moment.

"Got my flash on, it's true."
I caught a glimpse of Y/N's smile, and it fueled my energy.

"Need that picture of you, it's so magical."
I pretended to snap a photo, striking a pose, the plushie held high.

"We'd be so fantastical."
With a playful wink, I danced in closer, hoping he'd catch my drift.

"Leather and jeans, garage glamorous."
I kicked my legs, letting my body flow with the beat.

"Not sure what it means."
I shrugged, before flicking my hair back and walking by his side.

"But this photo of us, it don't have a price."
I held up the plushie like it was a priceless treasure before squishing it against my chest with a smile.

"Ready for those flashing lights."
I spun around, imagining the spotlight on us.

"'Cause you know that, baby, I."
I leaned in closer, searching his eyes for a sign. But it's just his obliviousness present

---

"I'm your biggest fan, I'll follow you until you love me."
With each note, I moved rhythmically, letting my emotions pour out.

"Papa-paparazzi."
I winked, letting out a playful giggle, before taking his hands and jumping up on a railing

"Baby, there's no other superstar, you know that I'll be."
I pointed to him, dancing as if he was the center of my universe while balancing on the rail.

"Your papa-paparazzi."
I struck another pose, holding the plushie up like a trophy.

"Promise I'll be kind."
My tone softened as I stepped closer, heart pounding. As if I was about to kiss him..before twirling away

"But I won't stop until that boy is mine."
Frustration crept in; I felt the urgency rise within me as I squeezed the plushie harder.

"Baby, you'll be famous, chase you down until you love me."
I leaned in, pulling him closer, feeling his warmth as I cupped his cheeks before pulling away.

"Papa-paparazzi."
My tone turned darker, the dance more intense, the air thick with tension.

---

"I'll be your girl backstage at your show."
I swung my hips, imagining us in a glamorous setting. Him hugging me, carrying me..

"Velvet ropes and guitars."
I gestured dramatically, painting the scene in my mind, before tossing the plushie away.

"Yeah, 'cause you're my rock star in between the sets."
I danced around him, pretending to be in awe of his presence, flicking my hair in his direction.

"Eyeliner and cigarettes."
I flicked my wrist, imagining the edge of rebellion.

"Shadow is burnt, yellow, dance and we turn."
I felt frustration bubble over, my smile slipping as reality hit.

"My lashes are dry."
I conjured my whip, letting it crack in the air, frustration seeping into my movements.

"Purple teardrops I cry, it don't have a price."
I snapped the whip, my expression shifting, a mix of love and desperation.

"Loving you is cherry pie."
I coiled the whip around Y/N's waist, pulling him closer, my heart racing.

"'Cause you know that, baby, I."
My eyes locked onto his, intensity swirling within me.

---

"I'm your biggest fan, I'll follow you until you love me."
I tightened my grip, my voice a blend of sweetness and desperation.

"Papa-paparazzi."
The tension between us thickened as I pulled him even closer. I could see the fear in his eyes...delicious

"Baby, there's no other superstar, you know that I'll be."
My heart raced, emotions twisting as I pressed against him. Batting my eyelashes looking innocent as ever.

"Your papa-paparazzi."
I snapped the whip again, the sound echoing ominously.

"Promise I'll be kind."
I whispered softly, my lips brushing against his ear before I clasped my teeth just missing the earlobe.

"But I won't stop until that boy is mine."
I felt a surge of determination, an unyielding drive to claim him. He began to back away..slowly and then quickly.

"Baby, you'll be famous, chase you down until you love me."
I locked eyes with him, the thrill of the chase consuming me.

"Papa-paparazzi."
I cracked my whip again, conjuring another one before coiling all of it around him tightly making him exclaim in pain.

---

"Real good, we dance in the studio"
I smirked, slowly reeling him in while he shook his head and struggled.

"Snap, snap to that shit on the radio"
I licked my lips, letting go of one of the whips to give him a chance to stand up.

"Don't stop for anyone."
I ran my hands up my cheek, looking at him with a lovesick expression.

"We're plastic, but we still have fun!"
I shook my head, looking up at the sky before smiling from ear to ear as my hands fell to my side.

---

"I'm your biggest fan, I'll follow you until you love me"
My tone softened as my gaze returned to Y/N, and I slowly walked towards him.

"Papa-paparazzi"
As I wrapped my arms around his neck, and felt his around my waist.

"Baby, there's no other superstar, you know that I'll be"
I cupped his face, making him look down at me. His eyes locked into mine..only mine.

"Your papa-paparazzi"
I turned around, my arms above me caressing and reaching up to tangle with his hair.

"Promise I'll be kind."
I let out a breathy moan, his breath hot on my shoulder and collarbone.

"But I won't stop until that boy is mine"
I pressed back against him, feeling his warmth as I ground my hips enticing him. He has to be mine.

"Baby, you'll be famous, chase you down until you love me"
I turned back once more, Leaning forward until he fell back and I climbed up to straddle him.

"Papa-paparazzi."
Before leaning down, my hair falling forward like the curtain call..before finally kissing him...

---

As I pulled away from the kiss, the world around me snapped back into focus, and my heart sank. I didn't just kiss Y/N-I kissed the cheeseburger plushie. A part of me wanted to scream in frustration as I glanced at it, the soft fabric reminding me of everything I wished for but could never have.

We had just returned to the beach house after what I had hoped would be a perfect day, one that would finally make him see me as more than just his goofy best friend.

But for Y/N, it was just another casual outing with the 'best friend.' My stomach twisted with anger and irritation as I watched him smile, completely unaware of my inner turmoil.

I tried to shake off the disappointment, but my gem pulsed a dark purple, the frustration bubbling just beneath the surface.

He had no idea how hard I was trying to make him notice me. To make him feel something deeper. I wanted him to see me as more than just Amethyst, the fun-loving gem who always made him laugh.

But instead, he turned around, smiling like he always did, blissfully ignorant of the storm brewing inside me. I forced a grin back, hiding the pain behind a facade that was getting harder to maintain.

"Just another day," I thought bitterly, following him back inside.

. . . .

Y/N's Pov.

As I stepped into the beach house, a gust of wind swept past us, sending a chill through the air. Dark clouds loomed over the sea, the fading light casting eerie shadows across the room. I shivered a little, but it wasn't just the weather that made me uneasy. Something felt off between me and Amethyst, and I couldn't quite place it.

"Want to watch a movie or something?" I asked, trying to break the growing tension. She had been quiet since we left the boardwalk, and I couldn't shake the feeling that I had missed something important.

"Yeah, sure," she replied, but her tone was distant, her gaze focused on the window as if she were watching the storm roll in.

I flopped down on the couch, the cheeseburger plushie she had been carrying still in her grip. "It'll be just like old times. You know, hanging out and having a chill day," I joked, hoping to lighten the mood. "Just you and me, best friends, living the dream, right?"

She turned to me, her expression flickering for a moment before her smile faltered. "Yeah, best friends," she echoed, but there was a weight in her voice that made me frown.

I grabbed the remote and turned on the TV, glancing back at her. "I mean, I wouldn't trade our friendship for anything. You know that, right?"

"Sure, but it's not like I'm ever going to be more than that," she said, her voice tinged with something that sounded like hurt. I looked at her, puzzled.

"What do you mean? We have a great friendship, Amethyst! I wouldn't change it for the world," I replied, but as the words left my mouth, I saw the hurt in her eyes deepen.

"Right, just a friend," she said, forcing a laugh that didn't reach her eyes. "That's exactly what I am. Just a friend."

I shifted uncomfortably, realizing that maybe I had said too much. "Come on, Amethyst, don't joke like that. You know we're tight."

But she didn't respond. Instead, she clenched the cheeseburger plushie tighter, and I could see her shoulders tense. The room seemed to close in around us, the storm outside matching the turmoil in the air.

"Amethyst, I didn't mean to downplay anything," I said, my heart starting to race. "You know I appreciate everything you do."

"Do you?" she shot back, her voice rising. "Because it feels like you only see me as a joke sometimes. Like I'm just... there. It's like I don't matter."

I stared at her, taken aback. "What? That's not true! I care about you! You're my best friend. I just-"

"Your best friend," she interrupted, the edge in her voice cutting through me. "That's all I'll ever be to you, isn't it? Just a friend, someone to hang out with when it's convenient. You laugh and joke, and I'm just here, trying to get you to see me for who I really am."

The frustration bubbled up inside me. "That's not fair, Amethyst! I care about you. I just thought we were having fun together!"

"Fun?" she scoffed, and I could see the shadows of doubt creeping into her expression. "You think it's fun for me to pretend that I'm okay with just being your friend? I want more than just that, but if you can't see it..." Her voice cracked, and I could see the flicker of pain in her eyes.

"I want you, Amethyst. I care about you more than you know," I said, desperate to reach her, but the words felt weak against the storm brewing inside her.

"Do you?" she challenged, her voice low and fierce. "Because if you can't see me for who I really am, then maybe I need to make you notice."

Before I could process what she meant, the air between us thickened with tension, her gem pulsing a dark purple.

As she stepped closer, I felt a chill run down my spine. There was something about her gaze, something wild and unrestrained, and my heart raced with a mix of fear and intrigue. "Amethyst, please-"

"SHUT UP!" Her voice echoed within the empty space, her hair over he eyes as she stood there. The cheeseburger plushy falling onto the floor and rolling away.

As I stared at Amethyst, my heart raced, a primal instinct warning me to step back. Her entire gem shifted from a playful purple to a menacing dark shade, swirling like shadows. The air around her crackled with energy, and I felt a chill run down my spine.

"Amethyst?" I asked, my voice barely above a whisper. But she didn't respond. Instead, her eyes began to glow, a fierce, radiant light that pierced through the dimness of the room.

With each passing moment, I watched as her form began to shift. She grew taller, her silhouette becoming more slender, yet somehow more powerful. Her white hair flared out behind her, wild and untamed, as if caught in an unseen wind.

Her outfit transformed alongside her, morphing into something fierce and alluring, accentuating her curves in a way that made my breath hitch. This wasn't the playful Amethyst I knew; this was someone else entirely-someone darker, more intense.

Then, without warning, she conjured her whips, the sound slicing through the heavy air like a crack of thunder. She slammed them onto the wooden floor, the impact reverberating through the room. I flinched at the noise, my instincts screaming at me to run, but I was frozen in place.

Amethyst turned to me, a creepy grin stretching across her face, one that sent shivers racing down my spine.

"Don't be afraid, Y/N," she purred, her voice low and sultry. "I'm just going to show you how much I actually feel. I promise not to hurt you too much... yet."

My heart hammered in my chest as I tried to process what was happening. There was a thrill mixed with terror in her voice, and I felt the weight of her gaze pressing down on me, heavy with a promise I didn't fully understand.

"Amethyst, this isn't funny," I managed to say, though my voice wavered under her intense stare.

"Oh, but it's going to be so much fun," she replied, her grin widening as she stepped closer, her whips coiling like serpents around her fingers. "You're finally going to see me for who I really am. No more hiding. Just you and ME."

I tried to open my mouth to reason with her, but before I could even form a word, her whip cracked beside me, the sound like thunder in the enclosed space. It grazed my cheek, drawing blood and sending a sharp jolt of pain through my body. The force shattered the painting behind me, splintering the frame and scattering fragments across the floor.

My body was slow to react to the pain, but as I exclaimed in shock, I stumbled backward, tripping over the rug and falling hard onto the floor. I crawled back, heart racing, watching in fear as she slowly inched closer, her presence overwhelming and terrifying.

I needed to get out. I tried to run, but the only way out was through the front door, and going past her wasn't an option. I glanced at the upstairs, which opened to the outside, but she swiftly blocked my path, her whip coiling around the couch, creating a barricade of debris around the stairs.

I looked around for another way to escape and saw a door behind me past the warp with gems formed in a circular motion and ran towards it but..it didn't open!

Panic surged within me as I banged against the temple door, my fists pounding against it desperately. "Let me out!" I shouted, frustration and fear intertwining as I realized my pleas were futile.

"Y/N," she said, her voice dripping with a twisted sweetness, "that door only opens for gems like me and Steven. You can't escape...so why don't we have some fun?"

With a manic laugh, she opened the door to her room, her dark purple gem glowing ominously. I felt a pull, a force drawing me toward her as the door swung wide open. "Don't be scared, Y/N. Just come play with me!"

I didn't need to be told twice. I dashed inside her room, heart pounding in my chest, the chaotic scene before me a disorganized whirlwind of trash and other discarded items-mountains piled high. But I didn't care. I ran and ran, knowing she was right behind me.

Her manic giggles echoed in the cluttered space, each sound sending a chill down my spine. The sharp cracks of her whips sliced through the air, a constant reminder that this wasn't a game.

"Y/N!" she called, her voice teasing, almost sing-song. "You can't hide forever! I'm right here!~"

I could hear her footsteps growing closer, the thudding rhythm matching the frantic beat of my heart. I darted between the trash, weaving through the chaos in a desperate attempt to escape her grasp.

My mind raced with fear, knowing that if I stopped for even a moment, God knows what she would do to me.

"Amethyst, please!" I shouted, my voice cracking as I turned a corner, barely dodging a lash of her whip that struck the ground beside me, sending debris flying. "Just let me go!"

But she only laughed, a wild, unhinged sound that echoed through the room, filling me with dread. I had to keep moving. I had to find a way out.

"There you are!"

My thoughts shattered as an incredible surge of pain ripped through me. I barely registered Amethyst's movements before her whip struck my ankle, the sharp edge slicing through flesh and taking a chunk out. A scream escaped my lips, raw and desperate, as I tumbled to the floor, clutching my ankle.

Tears streamed down my face, and blood trailed behind me, a stark contrast against the clutter of her room. I tried to push myself up, limping on one foot, but the agony was blinding. Every step felt like a reminder of my impending doom, and I could hear her behind me, the sound of her footsteps growing ever closer.

"Chase you down until..you love me~" she sang, her voice ominously sweet, the line echoing in my ears as I collapsed onto a conveniently placed dirty mattress.

Before I could gather myself, Amethyst jumped on top of me, pinning me down with a ferocity that knocked the breath from my lungs.

Her weight pressed me into the mattress, and I squirmed beneath her, trying to break free. But she was quicker, her whips dancing around my wrists, binding my arms above my head.

"How convenient you found this spot," she said, a twisted grin spreading across her face, her eyes glowing with a dark hunger.

Panting heavily, I held back sobs of pain, my ankle throbbing mercilessly as she leaned in closer. "Oh, don't be like that, Y/N," she mocked, her tone dripping with sadistic glee. "I'm sorry you got hurt... but it's just so much fun."

She conjured a smaller whip, this one coiling around my neck, the cool material brushing against my skin, a chilling reminder of my helplessness. I felt my heart race, panic clawing at my throat as I realized how vulnerable I truly was beneath her.

"You see," she whispered, leaning closer, her breath warm against my cheek. "I just want to show you how much I care."

I couldn't respond, the words caught in my throat, the fear paralyzing me as she tightened her grip, the whip constricting just enough to remind me of my precarious position.

"Just relax," Amethyst cooed, a gleam of excitement in her eyes. "Let me take care of you. This is all for us."

I shook my head to protest but the whip tightened around my neck causing me to gasp sharply, I could feel the air leaving my lungs before her hands ran up and down my chest..

Only for Amethyst to grin once more, then giggle..before that giggle turned sinister and into a full blown manic laughter as if she was possessed.

Followed by her nails digging into my skin as she ripped off my shirt exposing my chest, her eyes drinking in the sight of my chest raising up and down quickly before she stuck out her long tongue..tracing a slow lick from my belly up to my collarbone, and up to my cheek before whispering.

"Finally...I have you"

Warning..a very intense scene coming soon...

(A/N: what do you guys think of the musical scene? First time doing it and since I figured it matches the Steven universe musical vibe I thought why not. Thou I might need help finding songs to fit the next yandere characters. Hope you enjoyed and keep enjoying this book!)
