Part 1: A Reunion Beyond Time

Y/N's Pov

The familiar hum of the warp pad filled the air as light shimmered around me. I turned, surprised to hear my name being called out in unison by voices I hadn't heard in so long.

There they were—Amethyst

, Pearl,

and Garnet. (couldn't find a Steven universe future version fanart of her)

Despite everything, they looked exactly as I remembered—beautiful and timeless.

My heart swelled with happiness, a warmth spreading through me as I watched them approach. Just seeing them here, after all this time, was like coming home.

Before I could even say a word, Amethyst beat the others to it. She rolled toward me in her usual playful style, turning into a purple blur as she launched herself at me.

Mid-roll, she shapeshifted into a small, fluffy cat and leaped into my arms, purring loudly. The suddenness of it made me laugh, the sound joined by Pearl, Garnet, and Steven, who had arrived along with them.

"Amethyst, you haven't changed a bit!" I chuckled, scratching her behind the ears.

She morphed back into her regular form in my arms, a wide grin on her face.

"What can I say? I missed ya, big guy!" Her tone was casual, but the way she clung to me, not letting go for an extra second, told me how much she really had missed me.

We were always close—Amethyst and I, we'd always had that connection.

After a few more laughs, she hopped down, and Pearl stepped forward next, her movements as graceful as ever.

Her hug was warm but reserved, the way you'd expect from someone like her. As she pulled back, her eyes trailed over me, taking in my appearance with a soft smile.

"My, Y/N, you've gotten so much taller... and handsomer," she said, her voice light with a teasing edge. "I can only imagine how popular you must be now.

Do you have a girlfriend? I'm sure the girls are all over you," she added with a subtle wink, making sure the question lingered.

Suddenly, I felt all three pairs of eyes on me, waiting for an answer. Even Steven seemed curious.

I laughed a little, scratching the back of my head. "Well, uh... no girlfriend. Just been keeping busy with... life, you know."

Pearl's eyes sparkled with amusement, though she didn't press any further.

Then it was Garnet's turn. She stepped forward, towering as always, her calm and cool presence washing over the group. But this time, there was something different about her.

She extended her hands, showing off two rings, one on each. Her voice was filled with pride as she said, "Ruby and Sapphire are married now."

I smiled wide, genuinely happy for her. "That's amazing, Garnet. Congratulations!"

Before Garnet could respond, Steven jumped in, grinning ear to ear. "Oh, the wedding was incredible! You should've seen it. Everything was perfect—well, except for that whole 'Diamonds trying to destroy the Earth again' thing."

He laughed nervously, rubbing the back of his neck. "But, hey, everything turned out alright in the end. Heh."

We all shared a laugh at Steven's comment, the mood light and filled with joy. It was as if no time had passed at all, even though everything had changed.

The smell of breakfast filled the air as we all gathered in the dining room. Steven had prepared an interesting mix—a stack of waffles, drizzled with both maple and chocolate syrup, popcorn sprinkled on the side, topped off with a mountain of whipped cream and a single strawberry on the peak. A monstrosity of a meal he called 'Together Breakfast"

He'd made enough for both Amethyst and me, knowing we were the only ones eating—Amethyst, because she loved food, and me, well, because I was human. Pearl and Garnet just sat at the table, watching with amused smiles as we dug in.

Amethyst wasted no time, shoveling mouthfuls of the sugary creation into her mouth, making exaggerated sounds of enjoyment that caused everyone to chuckle. It was just like old times.

As we ate, the conversation shifted to catching up on what had happened over the years. Steven was the first to start, leaning back in his chair as he wiped his mouth.

"So, I've been getting better with my powers—you know, the ones I inherited from my mom, Rose Quartz. It's... still a lot to handle, but I'm getting there. Oh! And you wouldn't believe it, but I actually managed to unite the Diamonds and save Earth. Again. Multiple times, actually," he added with a sheepish grin.

"But I've been thinking... Once I turn 18, I might leave Beach City for a while—maybe go to college. Connie's already getting ready for it, and I think I could learn a lot out there."

I nodded, impressed with how much he'd grown. "That's awesome, Steven. College sounds like a great step."

Next up was Pearl, who had been quietly watching, a fond smile on her face. "You must've noticed more Gems walking around Beach City," she began.

"After the war, we started bringing in Gems who needed help—those who were lost, confused, or had nowhere else to go. We've been rehabilitating them in a settlement called Little Homeworld. It's that big building you saw when you first arrived at Delmarva."

I remembered the structure she was talking about and nodded. "Yeah, I saw it. So that's where they're all staying?"

Pearl smiled, proud. "Yes, it's become a safe haven for Gems who want a fresh start."

Then Garnet took her turn. "My team has been working on other planets, looking for survivors. There are still Gems out there who need help—some are still fighting, some are lost. We've been settling disputes and bringing them back whenever we can."

It was hard to imagine the scope of what they were doing, but I could tell it was important. Garnet's words carried the weight of all the challenges they'd faced, but there was also a sense of hope in the way she spoke.

Finally, Amethyst finished off her towering plate of waffles with a loud, unapologetic burp, grinning as she leaned back in her chair.

"Man, I missed you, Y/N," she said simply, her words carrying more meaning than her casual tone suggested. She looked at me with those playful, yet sincere eyes. "It's just not the same without you around."

I smiled, feeling a warmth in my chest at her words. "I missed you too, Amethyst. All of you."

We sat together in the cozy dining room, the light chatter and laughter bringing back memories of times we'd spent together. Despite everything that had happened, this moment felt like home.

---

We strolled down the boardwalk, the ocean breeze blowing through the air as we passed by the shops and the sounds of the waves crashing against the shore.

It felt good to walk with them again, just like old times. Steven was walking beside me, hands in his pockets as he started talking about the new allies they'd made over the years.

"We've met a lot of new friends," Steven said, glancing at me with a smile. "One of them is Lapis Lazuli. She's a water-controlling Gem—super powerful. You wouldn't believe it, but she once lifted the entire ocean up into the sky. The whole thing! It was... intense."

I blinked, surprised. "The whole ocean? Seriously?"

"Yeah, it was wild." He chuckled, then added, "I had to heal her gem to help her out. Oh yeah, I forgot to mention—apparently, I can heal Gems with my spit, or—well, any fluids, really!" Steven's innocent tone made it sound totally out of context, and I couldn't help but laugh a little.

"That sounds... interesting," I said with a grin. "What's Lapis like?"

Steven thought for a moment, looking out toward the water. "She's complicated. She's got these deep blue eyes, and she wears this flowing blue dress that matches the color of the ocean. She can be really quiet and kind of guarded at first, but deep down, she's sensitive. She's been through a lot, so it takes a while for her to open up. But once she does, she's fiercely loyal."

As we walked, Amethyst chimed in, eager to tell her own story. "Oh! You gotta meet Peridot. She's this little, petite gem who used to work for Yellow Diamond. She came to Earth trying to destroy us and Steven, but then she softened up—thanks to Steven, of course. He gave her a new perspective on things."

I raised an eyebrow. "What's she like?"

Amethyst laughed. "Oh man, she's short-tempered and kinda bossy, but super smart. She's got this small, perky build with green skin and a big yellow gem on her forehead. At first, she was all about logic and orders, but now she's just... well, still a little snarky, but she's family. You'll see what I mean."

Garnet was next to speak, her voice as calm and measured as always. "Then there's Bismuth. She's a warrior through and through—strong, with a build to match. She's got these beautiful rainbow-colored dreadlocks, and she's muscular but curvy, built like a tank. Bismuth used to be one of our best weaponsmiths back in the day. She helped us during the war, but she had this... warped idea about shattering Gems to win."

Steven quickly added, "Yeah, but I helped her see things differently. She was really hurt by the war, but now she uses her skills to help us, not destroy. She's tough, but she's got a soft heart deep down. I think you'd like her."

I nodded, taking it all in as we continued walking. Each Gem sounded unique, with their own stories and challenges. I couldn't wait to meet them all.

Finally, Pearl took her turn. "And then, of course, there are the Diamonds—White, Yellow, and Blue. You probably remember hearing about them. They've changed... a lot. They're actually helping now, trying to undo the damage they caused during the Gem War."

I raised an eyebrow. "They've changed? Just like that?"

"Well," Pearl hesitated, "it's been a process. But yes, they've been assisting in making things right. And, technically... Steven is a Diamond too. His mother, Rose Quartz, was actually Pink Diamond in disguise."

I stopped in my tracks, blinking in surprise. "Wait—what?"

Pearl gave me a sympathetic smile. "It's a long story, but... yes. Steven's connection to Pink Diamond has been a big part of how things have changed."

Steven scratched the back of his head, looking a little awkward. "Yeah... and now the Diamonds won't stop pestering me to come stay with them in Homeworld. They keep nagging me about it, but... I'm not going anywhere. This is my home."

I shook my head, trying to process everything. "Wow... a lot has changed."

Pearl smiled softly. "Yes, but some things stay the same. We're still here, and we're still a team."

As we continued walking along the boardwalk, I found myself lost in thought, reflecting on everything Steven had shown me so far. Beach City had changed a lot.

I glanced around, noticing how familiar landmarks now felt a bit different. Steven had pointed out earlier how Mayor Dewey wasn't running the town anymore.

Instead, he'd been replaced by Nana from Fishstew Pizza, of all people. I chuckled to myself, remembering how much Dewey loved his role as mayor, but apparently, he now worked at the Big Donut.

And then there was Peedee. Fryman's son, who used to help out at the family fry stand, now had his own food truck business. He looked older now, more independent, running things on his own. It was strange seeing him all grown up like that.

His older brother Ronaldo had changed too. He used to be obsessed with silly conspiracy theories, posting them all over his blog. Now, though, he'd traded those wild ideas for something more practical. He was running a new blog called Keep Beach City Cool, sharing real news about the city and its inhabitants with the world. It seemed like everyone had grown, adapted, and moved on in some way.

After a while, we made our way back to the temple. Steven's dad had made a pit stop in his signature van—the same Universe Van I remembered from years ago. He looked up as we approached, giving us his usual friendly grin. "Hey there, kiddo!" he called, waving.

I grinned, calling out, "Uncle Greg!" It had been forever since I'd seen him. As we got closer, though, I noticed something different. His iconic long hair... was gone.

"Whoa, what happened to your hair?" I asked, still a bit stunned. Greg's long, flowing locks were part of his signature look.

Greg chuckled, running a hand over his now-short hair. "Ah, yeah. Had a bit of a run-in with a rogue Gem. Sometimes you gotta make a little sacrifice, you know? But don't worry, I'm still the same ol' Greg Universe."

I nodded, still a bit surprised, but I couldn't help but smile. Even with the haircut, Greg was still the laid-back, cool uncle I remembered.

As we headed inside the temple house, there was someone else waiting there—Connie. She looked just as I remembered, though with a bit more confidence and obviously older.

She and Steven locked eyes as soon as we walked in, and without missing a beat, they hugged each other tightly. I could tell they hadn't seen each other in a while.

It was then that something unexpected happened...

Their forms began to glow, the energy swirling around them in a harmonious light. I watched in awe as Steven and Connie fused into Stevonnie—a tall, graceful fusion, effortlessly combining the best of both of them into one.

Stevonnie had Connie's elegant, poised features but with Steven's warm, inviting presence. Their skin was a perfect blend of their tones, and their long, flowing hair was a striking combination of Steven's dark curls and Connie's straight locks.

The result was breathtaking. Their build was athletic yet graceful, their posture confident but gentle. There was something strikingly beautiful about how each of their individual traits complemented one another, forming a beautiful woman with an air of power and grace.

I couldn't help but stare, completely mesmerized by how natural and seamless their fusion was. Stevonnie stood tall, embodying the perfect mix of both Steven and Connie, their deep, expressive eyes taking in everything around them. It was hard not to be in awe of them.

Stevonnie blinked, looking equally surprised. "Oh! Uh... we didn't mean to do that!" they said, laughing sheepishly. They quickly unfused, and Steven, now back to his normal self, rubbed the back of his neck awkwardly.

"Uh, yeah," Steven said, grinning nervously. "Remember the fusion thing I told you about? Well... I can do it with Connie too, hehe."

To be continued...

A/N: (Technically Stevonnie isn't on the plate of a love interest. But if you crazies want it then what the hell I'll add them too!)
