Ophelia blushes as she grades the biology exam. Every time she closes her eyes, she remembers waking up this morning wrapped in Samantha's arms.
Ophelia begins to stir, the morning light hitting her eyelids. She sniffs, tucking her head back down into the pillow. She tries to go back to sleep, too warm and comfortable to properly function this early. Warm breath brushes the back of her neck, making the hairs stand up and goosebumps rise on her skin. Ophelia opens her eyes, gathering her surroundings as she stays completely still. A beige-painted wall greets her, and the sheer white curtains to the window shine brightly with morning sun rays.
Something twitches on her stomach and Ophelia jumps, startled. When she gently lifts the covers to see what's touching her, Opehlia's eyes widen comically large. She wipes the sleep from her eyes, assuming she's still dreaming. Samantha's arm is wrapped around her, her hand is placed on Ophelia's stomach where her fingers twitch in her sleep.
Ophelia turns her head slightly and is amazed by what she sees. Samantha's usually stern face is open and peaceful. Her eyebrows are relaxed, her mouth is slack, and her shoulders aren't up to her ears. She turns slowly, trying not to wake the older woman. Gently lifting her arm, she swivels around, barely breathing.
Ophelia successfully turns around to face Samantha, their knees bumping together. She grins, swiping her fingers over the woman's bedhead. The arm she tried so hard to detach from her body moves again, throwing itself over her waist. The hand settles at the small of her back, pressing so that Ophelia is forced closer.
She scoots closer, closing the gap between their bodies so that their chests press together. Every breath Samantha takes, causes her breasts to touch Ophelia's. She watches, entranced by the movement of her chest rising and falling. Ophelia breathes deeply, watching as her DD breasts completely overshadow Samantha's. If she had to guess, Samantha had to have A cups, her chest never filled out her shirts. She keeps breathing deeply, finding the action funny.
Ophelia silences her giggles, nausea pooling in her stomach. She tilts her head, just staring at the exam without actually seeing it. The red ink pen leaves red blotches everywhere. "I'm a terrible friend." She mutters, smacking her head with a quiet groan.
She had basically been a creep this morning while she gazed for an hour at Samantha's chest. Her stomach clenches with worry. Did that make her weird?
"Definitely weird. So weird, Ophelia." She says, rubbing her face.
"Uh, Ms. North?" Ophelia shoots up from her slumped position, swiveling around in her roller chair to face the student who stands behind her.
"Yes?"
The student stares at her with a confused expression, "Um...Ms. Hotch said to come to you if we needed help on the diagram." In her hands is a homework packet. "I'm struggling with the DNA strand, I can't connect C to G or A to T."
Ophelia smiles, taking the packet from her hands. "Of course! Let's see here," She opens the packet, and quickly grabs the textbook on her table to find the correct page. "See this here?" She points at the provided picture underneath the chapter. "I'll read this to you and then we can work it out together. Sound good?"
She pulls up a chair, offering it to the teen. "Sit and let's go over it."
Ophelia waits on the outside steps of the apartment building. She clutches her phone in her hands, eyes tracking Erica's smiling photo on the Life 360 app. Erica was currently passing thru the village, meaning she would be here in minutes. She practically radiates with excitement, their entire weekend is planned to the very hour and minute.
A red VW Jetta slowly rolls down the road, making Ophelia squeal. "Erica!" She jumps up from the steps, racing into the road, waving her arms as she jumps around. "Erica here!"
The car pulls to a slow stop beside her, windows down. "Fia, why are you screaming like a maniac?" Erica smiles, eyes hidden behind her overly large sunglasses.
"Because! You're here, duh." Ophelia goes climbing through the window, her excitement too great to be contained. "Come here and let me love you!"
Erica laughs, trying to shove Ophelia back out the window. "Wait, wait. Let me park and then you can hug me."
She huffs but obliges, wriggling back out. "You can drop your stuff here, but you'll have to park your car in the back lot next to the soccer field." Ophelia watches as the trunk unlatches. "Is that you telling me to grab your things?"
Erica pokes her head out the driver's side window, "Would you be a dear and take them for me?" She puts on a fake British accent, laughing when Ophelia responds with "Of course, my lady."
After directing Erica to the back lot, Ophelia races up the stairs to the 3rd floor and drops everything off. When she comes careening back down the stairs, Erica is just coming up the trail leading from the soccer field. She waves, panting. "Hey!"
Ophelia laughs, wiping sweat from her brow. She had to take 2 trips with the multiple bags that Erica had brought. "Long walk isn't it?" She opens her arms as Erica approaches, catching her friend in a much needed hug. "I missed you so much, you have no idea."
Erica wheezes on her shoulder, "I...missed you...too." She pats Ophelia on the back.
Ophelia wraps her arm up with Erica's taking her hand. "Come on, we have 3 flights of stairs to go up,"
Erica whines, shaking her head. "I stand by what I said when you moved in. This place needs a damn elevator."
They reach room 301 after much complaining from Erica and a lot of laughs from Ophelia. She opens her apartment door, sweeping her arm out for dramatic effect. "Welcome to my luxurious penthouse suite." Her tone drips with sarcasm.
"Wow, it looks like it came out of a magazine." Erica waltzed in, kicking her shoes off at the door. She eyes the lack of furniture in the living room. "Fia, if you need a sofa, we can run to Walmart and get you a futon."
"No, it's fine really," She rushes to reassure her, grabbing 2 wine coolers from the fridge. "I barely have guests over. I usually just go to their place."
Erica takes the cooler, walking around the apartment. She enters the bathroom, analyzing everything. She always had a critical eye when it came to anything fashion related. "Your bathroom curtain and bathmats don't match."
Ophelia sucks her teeth, "Yup, and my duvet doesn't match the sheets on my bed."
Erica places a hand over her chest, expression aghast. "How low have you fallen without me?"
"I bet the apartment hasn't been vacuumed since I left." Ophelia sips from her glass, smirking. Her best friend hated to clean. It was her worst enemy.
The woman bounces on the beanbag as she takes a seat. "I hired the old woman next door to clean it."
"Mrs. Nelson?" She sits beside her on the floor. Erica places her feet in Ophelia's lap, nodding.
"Yeah, she does a good job. I pay her $50 a week just to come by and do the easy stuff." She catches the annoyed side-eye that Ophelia throws at her. "She doesn't do my laundry, jeez I'm not that useless without you."
They laugh, knowing that Ophelia did their combined laundry all throughout college. She rubs Erica's leg, "What do you want to do first? I have our entire weekend planned out."
Erica leans over to place her cooler on the floor. "I know, you emailed me a Google Doc with everything." She taps her chin in thought. "We never finished the last few seasons of Grey's Anatomy? You wanna catch up on it and have a lazy day?"
She gets up, taking Erica's empty wine cooler. "Lay in bed and watch tv?" Ophelia throws them away, rummaging around in the freezer. She pops back up with a half-gallon tub of cookies and cream ice cream. "I thought you would never ask."
They take Ophelia's TV from the living room and place it in her bedroom. They move her nightstand to the foot of the bed and set it on top, settling it so that it's centered. Erica and Ophelia quickly jump into their lounge clothes, consisting of a t-shirt and shorts for each of them.
Underneath the covers, Ophelia crosses her leg over Erica's sighing happily. "I really did miss you, video calls aren't the same as physically having you here." She wraps her arms around Erica, who is sitting up in bed with a bag of gummy worms in her lap.
Erica hums, feeding Ophelia a gummy worm. "Missed you too Fia." She points the remote at the TV and presses play for the show to begin. "Season 16, let's hope no one important dies."
"You know, I saw a video that someone leaves this season," Ophelia says, leaning her head on Erica's stomach. "Wanna bet on who it is?"
"I hope it's Meredith, poor woman's been through enough shit." Erica scoffs as the opening scene takes place.
Ophelia snags another gummy worm, "I want Owen to leave, he's so annoying."
"True."

"How dare he!" Ophelia screeches, standing on her bed clutching a pillow.
Erica stares with her mouth open, gummy worms forgotten.
"What? I can't believe it! Karev wouldn't leave Wilson for fucking Izzie!" She throws the pillow at the wall. "Unbelievable."
Season 17 pops up in the queue, waiting to be started. Erica tosses the remote on the floor, standing slowly. She walks to the bedroom door and opens it. "I'm going to the bathroom."
Ophelia waves her away, falling backward onto the bed. She bounces before finally stilling. She stares at the ceiling, shaking her head as thoughts swirl in her mind. "Let's just hope that Deluca and Meredith can work everything out. They're such a cute couple."
She shakes her head one last time, irritated with the show. Now she remembers why she and Erica dropped it. It was utterly terrible! The show killed off characters like Russian Roulette. You never knew which unsuspecting character was next.
Erica walks back in, a water bottle in hand. She comes to the side of the bed, checking her phone. "It's pretty late, you want to start heading to bed soon?"
Ophelia rolls over onto her stomach to check her phone as well. It's past midnight. "Oh man, yeah, we can go to bed now." She climbs off the bed, heading to the bathroom to wash up. It takes about 15 minutes for her to quickly shower and brush her teeth. She chooses not to wash her hair since it was in a braid and she didn't want to unravel it.
She finds Erica in her room, in an oversized shirt and just her panties on. Erica smiles, scooting over from the middle. "I started episode 1 of season 17, you didn't miss much."
Ophelia gets in beside her, sliding toward the middle where she usually sleeps. She has her t-shirt on as well as just her panties. It's how she always sleeps when home alone. They were roommates for the last 4 years together, so seeing each other naked or in their underwear was a common occurrence. It was normal for them.
"You need to shave your legs, it's like Sasquatch is in bed with me." Erica slides her legs against hers, giggling. Ophelia scowls, trying to get away from the uncomfortable feeling of Erica's unshaven legs.
"I have no time to shave. Literally, I work 6 days a week, 12-hour shifts. By the time I get home, I'm dead on my feet and fall into bed." Tears catch in Erica's eyes, "I hate being a nurse."
Ophelia sits up, pulling the other to her chest. "Shh, you're a fantastic nurse Erica!" She holds her tight, rocking them gently. "You can always apply somewhere else?" She lowers her voice, afraid to upset her further. "Somewhere you're not taken for granted."
"I'm a first-year nurse, I'm supposed to get the shitty shifts and hard patients." She huddles closer to Ophelia, "I just wish I had more time to myself. This is the first weekend I've had off since August." She raises her head, wiping her tears. "It's October Fia! October! Why did it take 2 months to have a weekend off?"
"They must be really short-staffed or hate you because there's no reason for that." Ophelia lays them down so that Erica's head is pillowed on her chest. She smooths her hair down, sighing.
"Enough about me." She sniffs, "Let's watch the show."
A bit of a short one here. The next one will be longer. I promise!
Question:
Do you prefer 2k word chapter lengths or 5k word chapter lengths?
Preferably when I read fanfiction online I like it to be 4k-6k long a chapter. Anything over 10k a chapter makes me bored. Although, I'll devour a 100k fic in an entire day. Like a single 10k update will make me bored but if I have 2 chapters that are 5k each, I'm not bored. IDK if that made sense to anyone.
BASICALLY...I wanted to know a ballpark of what the lengths should be for y'all.
