Chapter Thirteen: Just a fan.
They get back just in time for Jim to go to his table. They were so late that no one even had time to scald Jim and they just pointed to his table. Jim went with a quick apology while Sherlock went to the room where the YouTubers waited. Molly and John were already there and Molly immediately pulls out her phone when Sherlock enters so he assumes Victor got bored of being a fifth wheel and was just waiting for him to get back. He's seen exactly how Molly and John are snatched away by Sebastian and Irene and isn't surprised at all that Victor wondered off.
"He says he's made a new friend and will meet us later." Molly tells them.
"Slut." John coughs.
Sherlock chuckles while Molly scalds him for constantly having his mind in the gutter.
Soon, the three of them are messing around on the air hockey table. Molly and Sherlock vs John because according to him, he's "awesome and don't need any help" to beat them. As usual, Sherlock and Molly made sure to show John that underestimating them will forever be a mistake. It's times like this that Sherlock wondered how dense John truly is. It's like he forgets that Sherlock can recall things perfectly like all the games of air hockey John has had over the past few days, from which he can easily pick up on John's techniques.
The scores end up being 12-8, to Molly and Sherlock obviously. John goes off to sulk in the corner while Molly and Sherlock go to the kitchen area to get some drinks.
"Sherlock! Sherlock!" Molly hisses as he's getting two 7 Up's from the fridges, her finger nails digging into his arm.
"Ow, fuck, Molly!" Sherlock whines. "What?"
"Look!" She giggles, eyes fixed on something across the room.
Sherlock looks up to see Sebastian sitting by John, poking him and saying something. It doesn't even take twenty seconds for John to break into laughter and stand, happily moving to the sofa to sit and talk to Sebastian about something on the YouTubers phone.
A frown appears on Sherlock's face and he looks to Molly. "How the hell did he manage that?" He asks.
Molly raises an eyebrow at Sherlock. "You're not serious, are you? There's no way Jim is that distracting!"
Sherlock looks to Sebastian and John and then looks back to Molly, frown deepening. "I'm confused. Start explaining."
Molly sighs. "You're such an idiot. I think it's pretty clear that those two" she gestures to the pair on the sofa "are crushing on each other. John is definitely crushing on Sebastian at least. None of us and not even John's mother are capable of getting him to stop sulking that quickly without the aid of food or some kind of bribe."
Sherlock blinks, shocked. He hadn't thought that there could actually be anything between them. He'd just assumed that John and Sebastian had connected on some kind of "male" level that Sherlock isn't as in sink with. Molly's right, though, he does feel like a bit of a pratt for not realising just how much the pair are getting along.
Sighing, Sherlock looks to Molly again. "What time is it?"
"Why?"
"I'm bored and want to know when Jim will be back."
Molly huffs and shoves him. "Nice to know that you think I'm such good company." She murmurs sarcastically before checking her watch. "And you still have a few hours before he's done."
Nodding, Sherlock hops up to sit on the side and open his drink. Molly joins him, not having anyone besides him to talk to as Irene was also out entertaining her fans.
"Oh!" She suddenly exclaims and turns to Sherlock, almost flying off the side as she does but managing to stay on by grabbing hold of Sherlock's arm.
"Careful, idiot." Sherlock chuckles, amused by the shock on Molly's face.
"Yeah, yeah, whatever. Anyway, what I was going to say is that I forget to tell but Victor is going to let us stay here with him in London for a month. If our parents are okay with that. They can visit and stuff so hopefully they'll say yes." She smiles at him.
Sherlock's eyes widen and he wraps his arms around the girl, squeezing her tightly. "Oh my God!" He exclaims. "This is great! That means I'd get a whole month more with Jim!" He can't stop the squeal that escapes his lips.
Laughing, Molly pulls back and nods. "Yep, that's the plan. If our parents agree."
"Even if they don't, I'm staying. I always planned to move to London eventually."
Molly frowns, her mother-hen side appearing. "Sherlock, I know that you... really like Jim but don't do anything crazy, all right?"
Sherlock sighs and nods, knowing that she's right. He'd applied for a university closer to home and he hasn't got any kind of job or money. Staying home throughout university is probably for the best, especially considering that if he did move here now, he'd be bugged by Mycroft every other day because of their mother calling him to demand he look after Sherlock. The thought makes Sherlock shiver.
Then there's the fact that Jim isn't really anything to him yet. Sure, they went on a date but that doesn't mean Jim wants to commit to him or even has deep feelings. The same can be said for Sherlock, really. He's still getting to know Jim as a person and not as a YouTuber.
Sherlock smiles at Molly then and sips his drink. "They'll probably say yes, anyway. Well, I'm sure that my parents and John's will. Your mum may take some persuading."
Molly nods and gives a sad, small laugh. "Yeah... But she trusts me and you guys. Also, she can come and visit during the time we'll staying here and we're able to go home at any time. I'll persuade her."
Nodding, Sherlock slides off the container. "Shall we go find Victor?" He asks.
"Sure, it'll kill some time - and we get to meet this new friend." Molly says, having to jump off the counter as she doesn't have the height Sherlock does that allows him to slide off.
"I bet it's a pretty boy." Sherlock laughs.
"And blonde."
Sherlock nods, still chuckling to himself. "Definitely blonde."
Victor's always been predictable with the guys he goes for. They're often blonde, pretty, boy-next-door types that he slowly corrupts with his deviance. He doesn't mean to get anyone in trouble, it just seems to be a natural skill of his. It was always Victor (and John, too, usually) getting the four of them in trouble when they were younger. Sherlock's wasn't a golden child like Molly but his bad behaviour was more to do with the way he treats people rather than causing havoc.
Sherlock hooks his arm with Molly's and then they head out of the room, going in search of Victor.
It doesn't take them too long to find him - he's one of few people not lining up to see a YouTube. Sherlock and Molly can't help but burst into laughter when they enter the cafe area and see Victor sat with a young man that could be the very definition of his type.
Still laughing, they head over to the table.
"Can we join you?" Molly asks Victor, having difficulty smothering her giggles.
Victor narrows his eyes at them, clearly wondering what the pair are laughing about. He nods and looks across at Liam, who is shifting uncomfortably in his chair. "These are my friends. Sherlock," he gestures to Sherlock "and Molly." He nods to the girl.
Liam nods and flashes a brief smile. "Nice to meet you."
Sherlock smiles back. Molly manages to stop laughing before she grins at him. "You too... uh..."
"Liam!" He supplies, blushing. "My name is Liam."
"What are you doing hanging around with this weirdo when there's plenty of interesting YouTubers out there?" Sherlock asks, yelping when Victor kicks him for calling him a weirdo. Sherlock glares at him briefly before he looks back to Liam, awaiting his answer.
"Oh, erm, I'm an old friend of one of the YouTubers. Jim Moriarty, he's called, um..."
"Moriarty. His YouTube name is just Moriarty." Sherlock tells him.
Liam nods. "Right. I was never really interested in all the YouTube stuff. He enjoys it but I guess it's just not that big a deal to me..." He shrugs and chuckles nervously.
Sherlock looks as if he's taken personal offence to that - and he probably has, Molly thinks. After a moment, though, the look disappears and he asks "How do you know Jim?"
"Um." Liam blinks, looking at Sherlock. "Not to be harsh or anything but.. It's none of your business. You're just a fan."
Sherlock glares at Liam. The anger shows clearly on his face. "If I were just a fan, wouldn't I be lining up right now?"
He knows that he's only been on one date with Jim and it hasn't been that long since they met but he's confident that Jim doesn't view him as "just a fan". He's sure that they're friends, at the very least.
"I don't know." Liam replies, lowering his eyes. "I didn't mean to upset you... I don't know how well you know Jim."
Sherlock doesn't reply, just nods.
Sebastian clears his throat. The tension is suffocating. No one wants to be on the bad side of Sherlock - especially not when it's something he's passionate about. He's a force only the foolish dare to face.
The conversation eventually turns to lighter topics. Sherlock stays quiet but the other three chat away until Liam checks his phone and stands eagerly. He blushes as all eyes of those nearby turn to him.
"Jim's time will be finishing soon."
They all stand and head out towards the main area again. Molly, Sebastian and Liam are still happily chatting but Sherlock walks behind them, watching Liam closely. He's got an uncomfortable feeling in the pit of his stomach. He doesn't have any claim over Jim or any say in who his friends are but he's got a feeling that he's not going to like Liam at all. He feels like he's competition and Sherlock doesn't like losing.
He won't lose Jim. The YouTuber is someone that he'll fight for with all he's got. He's just started to venture into the area of more than friends and he'll die before letting this Liam take the chance away for him and Jim to become closer.
